HOMER E. BARBER,  RETIRED BUSINESSMAN DIES AT 70
 
Homer E. Barber, 70, dies at his home, 216 Center Street, yesterday, March 7, 1951, after a long illness.
He was a retired heating and plumbing contractor, in business here over 40 years.
Son of Henry and Addie Shirley Barber, he was born in Avon, July 27, 1880 and came to Canandaigua more than 50 years ago. In 1911 he entered partnership with Simeon F. Orman and conducted plumbing business under the name of Orman and Barber. The firm later dissolved and became the present concern of H. E. Barber and Son. When Mr. Barber retired in 1947, his son Ralph H. Barber continued the business.
Mr. Barber was a member of Canandaigua Lodge F and AM. He was married in 1898 to Miss Ada Hotchkiss, they having celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary three years ago.
Besides his wife and son, he leaves four daughters, Mrs. John D.Cotton, Mrs. John H. Brahm and Mrs. Edward C. McCarthy, all of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Robert H. Foland, of Geneva, a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Edward Baily, Avon, Henry J. Barber, Canandaigua, and Harrison Barber, Battle Creek, Mich., nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.  Interment will be in Woodlawn, with Masonic rites.

 Meryl A. Hanley Gets BS Degree
Miss Meryl Adele Hanley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Milton Hanley, Chapin Street, received her bachelor of science degree yesterday at Geneseo State Teacher's College commencement exercises.
A graduate of Canandaigua Academy, 1946, Miss Hanley has been identified with many college activities. She has taken a position as third grade teacher in Ruben-Dake school, Irondequoit, for the coming year.
Mr. and Mrs. Hanley, Mrs. R. C. VanDenbergh and Albert F. Hanley Sr. attended the exercises. Miss Hanley went on to Conecius Lake for a
house party of her sorority, Alpha Clio.

GEORGE W. PIERCE, Nonagenarian, Dies at Home

George W. Pierce, 91, retired superintendent of Brigham Hall farms, died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon, Aug 5, 1951, in the home of his son, Irmin L. Pierce, 76 Perry Place, with whom he resided.  Although he had been in frail health, he had not been ill.

Born in Bristol April 19,1860, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pierce.  He was married April 25, 1883 to Miss Fannie Francis of Bristol, who died in 1947.  They lived in that town 10 years before moving to Canandaigua, where he served for 38 years as head of the Brigham Hall farms.  He retired about 16 years ago.  Mr. Pierce had been trustee of All Souls Universalist society for over 35 years and was always active in that denomination.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Louis B. Cartwright and Mrs. Earl F. Case of Rochester, Mrs. George F. Conyne of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Marion P. Cade of Manchester. Two sons, Irmin L. and Howard S. Pierce of Canandaigua.  Also 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday from the Curtice Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, where friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening.  The Rev. Donald B. F. Hoyt, pastor of the First Universalist Church Rochester, will officiate. 
The courtesy of no flowers has been requested by the family.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 MRS. ADA BARBER - 
Funeral services for Mrs. Ada. A. Barber, 73, who died Tuesday,  December 4, 1951, were held today at 2 p.m. from the G. M. Kennedy and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. David W. Ayers, pastor of the Federated Church, officiating.
Bearers were Vernon Brahm, John Brahm Jr., Kenneth Fletcher, Ellsworth Pool and George Pool, all of Canandaigua, and Paul Hotchkiss of Rochester. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

DEATHS
George Leo Linehan, 62, of 17 Perry Place, died suddenly Friday night, June 20, 1952, in the Knights of Columbus rooms. 
He was born May 10, 1890, in Canandaigua, son of the late Thomas and Nora Maley Linehan. He had been employed as a motorman for the
Rochester and Eastern Railway for many years and conducted a trucking business until his retirement several years ago.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Veteran of World War I.
Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Clarence Taylor of Canandaigua.
Friends may call at the F. H. McElwee and Son Funeral Home today and tomorrow. Services will be held from the funeral home at 8:30 A.M.
Tuesday and from St. Mary's Church at 9 A.M. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

DEATHS -  MRS. ANNA KENNEDY
 
Funeral services were held today from the F. H. McElwee and Son Funeral Home and from St. Mary's Church for Mrs. Anna Broughall Kennedy,
85, who died Wednesday, November 12, 1952, after a long illness. The Rev. William J. Gaynor officiated. Bearers were Fred Hauber, William Hanovan, Wendell Toomey, Raymond Tanea, Francis Welch and George Doyle, all of Canandaigua. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.

DEATHS -  MRS. ANNA KENNEDY
 
Mrs. Anna Broughall Kennedy, 85, widow of Thomas J. Kennedy, former police commissioner of Canandaigua, died this morning, November 12, 1952, at the Canandaigua Health Home after a long illness.
Formerly making her home at 36 Brooks Street, she had been a resident at the health home for the past year and one half.
She is survived by one son, Victor T. Kennedy, Canandaigua, two grandchildren, John Kennedy, of Canandaigua, and Miss Marion Kennedy, of Geneva.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the F. H. McElwee and Son Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's Church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

FIRM HONORS  A.  F.  HANLEY,  JR.
 
A young Canandaigua life insurance agent has been honored for an outstanding sales record during 1952.  Albert F. Hanley Jr., broker for the J. B. Patterson and Son agency, representing the Rochester district office of the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, will take his wife for a one week stay at the Vasper Park Lodge in the Canadian Rockies as a guest of Penn Mutual.
Hanley is one of the three members of the Rochester district agency who qualified for the "400 Club", their sales having topped the $400,000
mark during 1952. The district includes most of Central and Western New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Hanley will stay at the lodge with others who are being honored by the firm during the week of June 24. The 500 mile round trip and their sojourn there will take about three weeks.

DEATHS - Charles J. Cowan
 
Charles J. Cowan, 53, died of a heart attack at his home, 151 Chapin Street, Canandaigua, Sunday February 8, 1953.
Born September 3, 1899, he was the son of the late James F. and Delia Long Cowan. He was a charter member of the Canandaigua Elks Lodge,
and present chaplain of the lodge, also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's Church and of the Holy Name Society of which he was
a past treasurer.
For more than 25 years he had been employed in Canandaigua as a clerk in the Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation.
Services will be held Wednesday at the home on Chapin Street at 9 a.m. with services from St. Mary's at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

 Mr. and Mrs. Luther Robinson, Lyons, were overnite guests at the Arthur Andrews cottage, East Lake Road, to attend the Hanley-Andrews
wedding today.

DEATHS -  MRS. NETTIE BREEN
Mrs. Nettie E. Breen, wife of Maurice Breen, 173 Mulberry Street, Rochester, died Sunday October 18, 1953 at her home in Rochester.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert B., of Utica, two sisters, Mrs. Laurie Smith and Mrs. Minnie Madden, both of
Rochester, and two grandchildren, Thomas and Lynn, of Utica.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from the home and 9 a.m. from St. Boniface's Church, Rochester. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua.

DEATHS -  MISS BESSIE KANE
 
Miss Bessie Kane, 360 Gorham Street, died this morning, May 1, 1954, in Thompson Hospital after a short illness.
She was born in the town of Hopewell, the daughter of the late James and Anna Herbert Kane, and had been a lifelong resident of Canandaigua and vicinity. She was a member of St. Mary's Church.
She is survived by one sister, Miss Anna Kane, of Canandaigua, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 from the Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in Calvary.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Milton Hanley and son Ronald, 180 Gibson Street, moved yesterday to the home of Mrs. Mabel P. Davis, 114 Granger Street, which the recently purchased.
Mrs. Davis and daughter Miss Nancy Davis are occupying the apartment vacated by the Hanley's.  Miss Meryl Adele Hanley, Rochester, will spend the weekend holidays with her parents.

40  YEARS  AGO       June  3,  1914
 
At the session of the board of supervisors this morning, an oil portrait of the late William T. Schley, Esq, of New York City, was
presented to the county and will be hung in the courtroom as part of the valuable collection there.  The painting was obtained and presented by Mr. Schley's children, Reeves Schley, and Mrs. William M. Shackford, both of New York City.
 
William T. Schley was born in Canandaigua on August 19, 1840. He was educated at Canandaigua Academy, and practiced law in the office of Hon. Elbridge G. Lapham, afterward United States Senator. He died July 1, 1912 after a distinguished career in Rochester and New York City.

DEATHS - Miss  Margaret  C.  Farrell
Miss Margaret C. Farrell, 73 W. Gibson St., died Saturday, August 7, 1954, following a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Canandaigua, she was the daughter of James and Ellen McGarry Farrell, and was well known in Canandaigua, where she served as a nurse for many years.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, and Canandaigua Academy, and a member of St. Mary's Church, and the Rosary Society of that church.
Survivors include six sisters, Misses Alice and Kathryn Farrell, Mrs. Hugh Smith, Mrs. Gerald Lynch and Mrs. Howard Lynch, all of Canandaigua, and Mrs. George Law of Rochester.  Interment in Calvary.

DEATHS -  MISS MARGARET FARRELL 
Funeral services for Miss Margaret C. Farrell, who died Saturday, August 7, 1954, were held at 8:30 A. M. today from her home, 73 W. Gibson Street, and at 9 A. M. from St. Mary's Church. 
The Rev. Paul Lynch, Fort Siocum celebrated the Solemn High Mass, the Rev. Robert Keleher, Rochester, was Deacon, and the Rev. William J. Gaynor, assistant pastor of St. Mary's, was sub Deacon. Students at St. Andrews Seminary, Rochester, filled the minor offices. 
Bearers were Robert Law, Richard Law, and Hugh Smith, all of Rochester, Donald Smith, Washington, D. C., John Hurley, Schenectady, and James Hurley, Geneva. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.

DEATHS -   Mrs. Jesse O. Knapp
 
Mrs. Elizabeth Knapp, 76, 14 and one half Atwater Place, died Monday, August 30, 1954, in Thompson Hospital after a long illness.  The widow of Jessie O. Knapp, she was born March 7, 1868, in Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Babcock, and had lived in Canandaigua for the past 72 years.  Mrs. Knapp was active in the community affairs, a member and past
President of American Legion Auxiliary, a member of Canandaigua Grange, and of the Home Bureau.
 
Survivors include one son, James F. Knapp, Canandaigua, one daughter, Mrs. Frank Roy Lord, Wilmington, Delaware, one grandson, Edward H. Knapp, Canandaigua, two Great Grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Charles Aylesworth, Godfrey, Ont., Canada. Two brothers, George A. Babcock, Verona, Ont., Canada, Fred Babcock, Spencerport, and several nieces and nephews.  Interment at Woodlawn.

William B. Dannahe, 87, died last night, October 20, 1954, in the Canandaigua Health Home following a long illness. 
Born January 31, 1867, in Geneva, he made his home in Canandaigua for the past 20 years with his daughter, Mrs. Michael DeLea, superintendent of Thompson Hospital. 
He was a retired blacksmith, and a member of St. Mary's Church. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. DeLea, Mrs William F. Steinbugler, Garden City, L. I., Mrs. Frederick Burke, Geneva, Mrs. William F. Regan, Brooklyn, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.   Interment in Calvary Cemetery.

Most Rev. Lawrence B. Casey, DD, Auxilliary Bishop of the Rochester Catholic Diocese administered the Rite.
Children of the Parochial School who received the rite, marched to the procession from the school to the church, the girls in white gowns
with white veils, the boys in white shirts, red ties, and dark trousers.

OBITUARY -  Maurice Breen
Maurice Breen, a former Canandaiguan, died Monday at the home of his son, Robert B. Breen, Utica.
Mr. Breen was the brother of the late Cornelius Breen, of the firm Ahrens and Breen, and had worked most of his life at the State Hospital at Willard and at Industry.
Survivors include the son, two grandchildren, Thomas and Lynn Breen, Utica, and two sisters, Miss Mollie Breen, Canandaigua, and Mrs. Frank J. Gillespie, Rochester, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the Murphy Mortuary, Rochester, and at 9 a.m. from Blessed Sacrament Church,
Rochester. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua.

Miss Hanley Enjoys Unique European Tour
 
Miss Meryl Adele Hanley, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Milton Hanley, Granger St., has returned from a two months' hitch-hiking trip in Europe with an associate Miss Mary Nash. 
Starting out with bicycles, the young women found the pedaling too tiring, so stored their machines and started hitch-hiking. They
reported courteous treatment in all but one country, with no laws against this method of travel, "We made some wonderful acquaintances and were entertained overnight." 
Sailing from Montreal Miss Hanley and Miss Nash visited the English lakes country, spent a week in London, crossed the Channel to Calais, visited Belgium, Holland, and followed the Rhine Valley to Switzerland and the Alps. From the Black Forest of Germany, they went to Milan and Venice. While in a gondola on the Grand Canal there, they met a classmate from Geneseo State Teachers College, on the Isle of Capri saw Gary Moore of TV fame, and in Rome had a glimpse of the Pope.  Following the Italian and French Riviera, they spent two days in Paris where they viewed the famous Eiffel Tower soon to be dismantled.  They sailed from Belfast, Ireland, August 21, on the SS Roonagh Head, a flagship of a fleet of 62 freighters, arriving August 28.   Miss Hanley will resume her duties next week as a teacher in the Reuben Dake School, Rochester.

RAY E. DOUGLASS' CELEBRATE 50th ANNIVERSARY
 
Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Douglass, 104 Park Ave., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a quiet family dinner at the home of Mrs. Douglass sister, Mrs. Sherman Haberg, Country Club Rd., East Rochester, Tuesday evening. 
Mrs. Douglass, the former Miss Florence Perkins, Batavia and Canandaigua, and Mr. Douglass, a native Canandaiguan, were married March 22, 1905. The Rev. Ward Mosher, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated at the bride's home. 
The couple have one daughter, Mrs. Karl Camp, Arlington, Texas, two grandchildren, Edward and Sharon. 
Mr. Douglass is with the Arthur L. Young Realty Company. Both are in excellent health, and Mrs. Douglass replied to a question concerning hobbies, "I am enjoying old age by taking life easy.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday from Kennedy Funeral Chapel by Rev. Elroy D. VanDyke DD, pastor of the Methodist Church, and the Rev. Robert Ketchum, pastor of the Cheshire Community church, for William Everett Douglass, 73, of Canandaigua RD 5, who died Thursday, April 21, 1955, after a long illness.  Bearers were Alfred H. Dewey Jr., Robert D. Dewey, Richard J. Dewey, Ward E. Dewey, Donald C. Read, and Martin Barnim. Interment in Woodlawn.

 Locals - Miss Meryl Adele Hanley, 114 Granger Street, and Miss Irene Porrey, Newark,  teachers in the Rochester city school system, expect to leave Tuesday for a four weeks major trip through the West.
They will be accompanied to Cleveland by Miss Hanley's mother, Mrs. R. Milton Hanley, and Mrs. Josephine Deck, Victor, who will visit Mrs.
Deck's sister, Mrs. Alan J. Donovan, and Mr. Donovan, a former Canandaiguan.

Law School.  Mr. Hanley was sworn in July 14 as a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Obituary -  Louis H. Brown
 
Louis H. Brown, 68, of 253 Mason Street, died in Thompson Hospital after an illness of three years.  He was the husband of the late Mrs. Mayne Fogarty Brown, who died in 1938.
Born May 6, 1896, Mr. Brown was the son of Charles E. and Elizabeth Little Brown, West Bloomfield. He had been a retired employee of the
Johncox Dairy Products Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Surviving are two sons, Vincent E. Brown and LaVerne L. Brown, one brother, Harry Brown, all of Canandaigua, one sister, Mrs. George
Thompson, Clifton Springs, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Kennedy Funeral Home Thursday and Friday from where funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and followed
by a Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

FRANKLIN  GRAY  JOINS  LOBDELL
 
Announcement was made today by Robert L. Lobdell, local insurance agency, that he had secured the part time services of Franklin J. Gray,
former Secretary of the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Gray who has been inactive since illness forced him to resign from the Chamber of Commerce post, will be on duty in the office  every
afternoon of the week. This will free Mr. Lobdell, who acquired the office June 1, for outside work.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Barry Long, 78, wife of John J.Long, of 205 Prospect Street, were held this morning from McElwee
Funeral Home and from St. Mary's Church. Mrs. Long had died at her home on Monday May 11, 1956.
Bearers were Ray Tanea, Ethelbert Seiler, East Bloomfield, William Kirkmire and Lyle Kirkmire and John Long, all of Rochester, and Gene
Brown, Alcott.
The Rev. John V. Rossi, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church officiated at Mass and the Rev. Alphonse P. Crimmons, pastor, officiated
at Calvary Cemetery.

+  Rites for Mrs. QUICK Thursday - A funeral service will be held at 9, Thursday morning at St. Mary's church, for Mrs. Frances Wade QUICK, 56, well known Canandaigua resident, who died Monday evening at Thompson hospital, after a long illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Canandaigua.  she was born Sept 24, 1899, a daughter of John and Nellie Clancy WADE.  She was a member of St. Mary's church and had been active in the Rosary society of the church.  She is survived by her husband, Cecil F. QUICK; two daughters, Mrs. Jesse R. SAUNDERS and Mrs. James H. LYNAUGH, both of Canandaigua; a sister, Miss Madeline WADE, Canandaigua, and three brothers, Edward, Charles and George WADE, all of Canandaigua.

Obituary -   John Long
John J. Long, 76, of 205 Prospect Street, died Friday June 15, 1956, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Dawson, Canandaigua RD 2,
following a long illness.
A life long resident of Canandaigua, he served as chauffeur for the Willis M. Tuttle family. His wife, the former Miss Jessie Barry, died
last month.
Besides Mrs. Dawson, he is survived by two other daughters, Miss Jessie Long and Mrs. William Doane, all of Canandaigua, one son John A.
Long, Marcellus, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the McElwee Funeral Home tonight from where funeral services will be held Tuesday 8:30 a.m. and St. Mary's Church at
9 a.m.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Miss MULHERON Is June Bride

Miss Mary Joanne MULHERON, daughter of Mrs. W. H. MILES and the late William F. MULHERON, 156 Telyea street, became the bride to Vincent Parker MURPHY, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter MURPHY of Canandaigua, in a pretty summer ceremony held Saturday morning at St. Mary's church, in Canandaigua.  The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Alphonsus P. CUMMENS, pastor of the church, followed by a nuptial high mass celebrated by Rev. William GAYBOR, assistant pastor of the church.

The bride, given in marriage by her brother, William F. MULHERON, chose a gown of white silk fastened with a portrait neckline.  she carried a bouquet of white roses.  Mrs. Harry JONES III of Rochester was matron of honor and wore a ballerina length gown of yellow crystallette with a headpiece of matching flowers and carried a cascade bouquet of yellow and white carnations.  The two bridesmaids, Mrs. Mark STERNIN of Brockport and Mrs. Mary L. MOWITZ of Tonawanda, wore similar gowns of lilac crystalette with lilac headpieces and carried matching bouquets.  James MURPHY was best man for his brother and the ushers were the bride's brother, Robert E. MULHERON, and James ROTH, both of Canandaigua.  

The bride is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and of Brockport State Teachers College.  She will teach in the Syracuse public school system in the Fall.  Mr. MURPHY is studying at LeMoyne college in Syracuse.  He served for four years in the United States Marine Corps.

Mrs. Arthur ROOD has been spending 10 days with her son, Rev. J. Henry ROOD and family of Groton.

Mrs. Jennie S. DURAND Dies - Mrs. Jennie Supplee DURAND, 169 Gibson street, died Tuesday night at Thompson hospital after a long period of failing health.  Mrs. DURAND suffered a hip fracture in a fall at her home Sunday night and was brought to the hospital.  She was the widow of Seymour E. DURAND and was a member of one of Canandaigua's old families.  She had spent her entire life in this area and was widely known in musical circles in the community.  She was organist at the First Methodist church for many years.  She is survived by two daughters, Miss Katharine L. DURRAND and Miss Margaret J. DURAND, and one sister, Mrs. Harriet LATTER, who resides on the west coast.

Miss RUSSELL Is Pretty Bride - (picture)  Miss Laura Jane RUSSELL, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. RUSSELL, 110 North Main street, Canandaigua, became the bride of Dr. Norman R. LOOMIS, Ontario, son of Mrs. Leon C. LOOMIS, Forest Hills, L.I., and the late Mr. LOOMIS, Saturday afternoon (July 21) in the Methodist church.  Rev. Dr. Elroy D. VAN DYKE, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony before an altar of palms, gladioli and candelabras.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a ballerina length gown of white nylon tulle fashioned with a fitted bodice of Chantilly lace, decorated with satin rosettes.  She wore matching mitts and an elbow length veil and carried a bouquet of white albium lilies.    Miss Barbara RUSSELL, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, wore a white organdy ballerina length gown embroidered with yellow flowers and having a cummerbund of yellow taffeta.  She carried a colonial bouquet of Pinocchio roses.

Bridesmaids were Miss Marjorie LOOMIS of Forest Hills, sister of the bridegroom; Mrs. Robert DUGAN of Syracuse and Miss Linda CROSS of Canandaigua.  They wore similar gowns embroidered in blue with blue cummerbunds and carried colonial bouquets of Demure and Garnett roses.  Mary GLERUM, Canandaigua, was flower girl and carried a white basket of Demure and Garretn roses.    Lloyd VAN HOOVER, Ontario, was (cut off)

John Joseph Long III, Rochester, grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Long, Canandaigua, has enrolled at the University of Detroit to

continue his electrical engineering studies after completing two years at St. John Fisher College.

 Scott L. Gerould, 83, 172 N. Main Street, died this morning January 21, 1957 in the Thompson Hospital following a long illness.  He was the husband of Gertrude G. Potter Gerould.  He was born in the town of Gorham, March 13, 1873. He was the son of the late Horace and Olive Griswold Gerould. He was a retired cattle dealer and farmer, a member of the Methodist Church and Canandaigua Grange, and past Supervisor of the Town of Canandaigua.
 
Survivors besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. A. Morrise Gifford of Canandaigua, two grandsons, Robert G. Gifford, of Smithtown, LI, and Wesley A. Gifford, Canandaigua, and two granddaughters. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.

FARRELL -  Mr. and Mrs. William Farrell Plan 50th Anniversary Gathering
 
East Bloomfield - Mr. and Mrs. William P. Farrell will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday, June 15, from 2 to 5 p. m. in the home of their niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Webb, in Maple Avenue.
 
At St. Bridget's church in East Bloomfield, June 17, 1908, took place the marriage of Miss Jane Mahoney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Mahoney of East Bloomfield, and William P. Farrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Farrell of Victor. The marriage vows were heard by Rev. Patrick A. Neville, and attendants were Miss Carolyn Mahoney, a sister of the bride, and Joseph Farrell, brother of the bridegroom.
 
Most of their married life has been spent in East Bloomfield township. For three years they resided with Frank Cannan, a
brother-in-law, in the northwestern part of town and assisted in the care of his six small children. They have been residents of Maple Avenue for the past 35 years.
 
Both have been active in civic and community affairs. Mr. Farrell has served as constable and dog warden. He was a house painter
and decorator for several years. Mrs. Farrell is a member of the cafeteria staff at Bloomfield Central school and this season is employed week-ends in a similar capacity at the 4-H club camp in the Bristol Hills. She is a member of Court Isabella, CDA, and the T Bridge club. She has one brother, Frank Mahoney, Rochester, and Mr. Farrell has a sister, Mrs. Eugene Wilkinson of Victor.
 
They will be honored at an anniversary mass at 7:30 Tuesday morning, June 17, at St. Bridget's church, East Bloomfield.

Howard D. Herendeen, 71, 15 Howell St., died Saturday, July 12, 1958, at Thompson Hospital following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of this city, Mr. Herendeen was born July 29, 1886, the son of the late Lewis D. and Minnie Power Herendeen. He attended schools in Canandaigua and Victor, and received business training at the Rochester Business Institute.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Canandaigua Lodge, and Odd Fellows. He was also a member of the board of trustees,
Woodlawn Cemetery Association. 
For twenty five years he conducted a confectionary and news store at 65 S. Main St. being associated with Walton G. Lapham until 1928 when Mr. Lapham died. In 1933 Mr. Herendeen sold the business and purchased the Lewis W. Johncox store at170 South Main St., which he operated for two years. For 20 years he operated a summer store at Cottage City on East Lake Shore, where he made his home during these years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen G. Spangle Herendeen, a son, Edward L. Herendeen, Johnson City, and 2 grandsons and a granddaughter.  Interment was made in Woodlawn Cemetery.

McKechnies Mark 25th Anniversary
 
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick A. McKechnie Jr., 152 Howell Street, entertained 90 guests at a buffet supper Wednesday evening at their summer home, Glenburn, Seneca Point Rd. The occasion marked their 25th wedding anniversary.
 
Mr. McKechnie and Miss Mary C. Kirkham, both of this city were married in the Congregational Church, June 9, 1934. They have two children, Frederick A. McKechnie III of Brooklyn, and Miss Mary McKechnie, a student at Hood College. 
Guests were from Albany, Elmira, Rochester and Canandaigua.

Obituary - Arthur Andrews
Funeral service for Arthur Andrews of the North Road, who died Friday, June 26, 1959, was held this afternoon in the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Ross Whetstone, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Bearers were Leslie Gifford, Arthur Middlebrook, Canandaigua, Paul Wlaker and Lloyd Kotteker, Chapin, Paul Camp, Rochester, and John A.

Obituary -
Arthur James Flood, 54, former Canandaigua resident, died at his San Francisco home yesterday, Nov. 19, 1959, after a long illness.
 
He was a native of Canandaigua, a son of John and Clara Engert Flood, and lived here during his youth and young manhood. He had been a
San Francisco resident for the past 18 years. He had been engaged in the restaurant business on the West Coast.
 
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Roland Hughey, Waterloo, and Mrs. Gray Skutt, North Rose, two brothers, Gilbert, Pueblo, Col., and
John, Canandaigua.   Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
