 Obituary - Patrick H. McCarthy
 Patrick H. McCarthy, 82, of 135 Washington Street, died Monday in Thompson Hospital following a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Canandaigua, he was born August 5, 1878, son of Daniel and Bridgett Sullivan McCarthy. He was a lifelong member of
St. Mary's Church, and an honorary life member of Canandaigua Council Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Henry C. Helen Matthews, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Mrs. Raymond R. Elizabeth Rodney, of
Canandaigua, four grandchildren, one great grandson, three brothers, Cornelius of Canandaigua, Dennis of Monroe. La., and Daniel of
Pittsburgh, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.    Interment in Calvary Cemetery.

DOUGLASS 
Fred M. Douglass expired in Canandaigua yesterday, October 7, 1960. His home was 47 Perry Place, Canandaigua. He died at his home.
He is the husband of Elsie Sanney Douglass. He was 74. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Frank MacAllister of Lansdowne, Pa., Mrs. James Flint of Westerville, Ohio, and Miss Virginia Douglass, of Macedon, one son, F. William Douglass, Canandaigua, four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ray W. Johnson, and Miss Emma Douglass of Canandaigua, three brothers, Samuel M., Ray E. and R. C. (s/b Ira C.), all of Canandaigua.
 He was a member of the Civil Service Engineers Assn. Mr. Douglass was a retired civil engineer of the State of New York, and retired in 1956 having offices in Rochester.
 Friends may call at the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home, 13 Bristol St., Canandaigua. Funeral service will be held Monday at the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jean WALKER, Nurse, dies at 88 - Canandaigua - Jean Sangster WALKER, 88, widow of George Walker of 48 Chapin St., died Monday night (Dec 12, 1960) in the Canandaigua Health Home.  Mrs. WALKER was a lifelong resident of this vicinity, born Sept. 11, 1872 in Hopewell, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Anne Benzie SANGSTER.  Before her marriage to Mr. WALKER, who died here in 1957, she was head nurse in the operating room at Genesee Hospital, Rochester.  Mrs. WALKER was a registered nurse.  Surviving are one brother, George H. SANGSTER of Canandaigua and several nieces and nephews.  Friends may call a the Kennedy & Son Funeral Home, Bristol Street, today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A service will be conducted in the funeral home tomorrow at 2 pm, Rev. David W. AYERS, pastor of the Federated Church of which Mrs. WALKER was a member, will officiate.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.

Freida Buerman Becomes Bride of John Mulheron
 
St. Mary's church was the scene August 19 at 11 A.M. of the marriage of Miss Freida Buerman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H.
Buerman, of Clyde, to John F. Mulheron, son of Mrs. Witt Miles, Tampa, Florida. The Rev. Joseph M. Sasso performed the double ring ceremony in a setting of white Gladioli.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white taffeta and lace. Her fingertip veil fell from a crown and she carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and stephanotis..
Mrs. Nelson Saeger of Canandaigua was matron of honor. She wore a street length gown of turquoise taffeta and carried a bouquet of white and turquoise carnations.
William Mulheron, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Another brother, Robert Mulheron and James R. Coyne, all of Canandaigua, acted
as ushers.
The bride's mother wore a pink lace dress with white accessories and a pink rose corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore blue silk with white accessories and a pink rose corsage.
The ceremony was followed by a buffet reception at the Canandaigua Country Club attended by approximately 275 guests. A four tiered cake
and the bouquets of the bride and her attendants decorated the serving table.
Following a trip to the New England States Mr. and Mrs. Mulheron will live at 114 Adelaide Avenue.
The bride, a graduate of the State University College of Education at Brockport, is a member of the Phelps Central School faculty. The
bridegroom, a Navy Veteran, is employed at the Veterans Hospital.
Prenuptial events included a shower given by Mrs. Edward Walsh, Mrs. Robert Mulheron, Mrs. William Mulheron, and Mrs. Vincent Murphy, at
the home of Mrs. Walsh, and by Mrs. Nelson Saeger and Mrs. Gordon Buerman, in Rose. Mr. and Mrs. William Mulheron entertained at a rehearsal party at their home, Chapin Street.

Obituary -  Mrs. Ralph W. Arnold
 
Mrs. Cora Hoag Arnold, 87, of Chapin Road RD Canandaigua 2, died today at her home following a brief illness.
Mrs. Arnold was born in Rome, NY, April 24, 1875, the daughter of the late William and Estella Sherman Hoag. She had lived in this vicinity since 1916. Her husband, Ralph W. Arnold died in 1953.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred O. Yerkes, two sons, Lyle R. and Wesley C. Arnold, all of Canandaigua RD, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday at the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home where funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, the Rev.
Ross E. Whetstone, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Obituaries -  Mrs. Hugh Smith   [Teresa]
 
Mrs. Hugh Smith, 7 Elm Street, Geneseo, died early today in Thompson Hospital where she was admitted Tuesday night.
She was visiting relatives here when taken ill. She was the widow of Hugh E. Smith and had spent most of her life in Canandaigua.
Mrs. Smith was born in Shortsville, the daughter of the late James and Ellen McGarry Farrell. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society
of St. Mary's Church and the Catholic Daughters.
She is survived by three sons, J. Hugh Smith, of Rochester, Dr. Gerald A. Smith of Geneseo and Donald E. Smith, Washington, DC, 12
grandchildren, five sisters, Misses Alice R. and Kathryn B. Farrell, Mrs. Gerald Lynch and Mrs. Howard Lynch, of Canandaigua, and Mrs. George
Law, of Rochester, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call tonight and Thursday at the McElwee Funeral Home. The Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home Thursday at 8 pm, to
recite the rosary. A prayer service Friday at 9 am in the funeral home to be followed by mass at St. Mary's Church at 9:30 am. Interment will
be in Calvary Cemetery.

Social Notebook -  Miss Meryl Hanley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Milton Hanley, 114Granger St. received her Master's Degree in science and education Sunday from Syracuse University. She has been on sabbatical leave for a year from West Irondequoit School Dist. No. 1, where she will return in September.
Miss Hanley was graduated from Geneseo State University in 1951. Her parents attended the commencement exercises in Syracuse.

BRISTOL  VALLEY -  MRS.  LEVI  W.  TOTMAN     -     Mrs. Mary Totman, 94, of Middlebury Center, Penn., died Sunday in a hospital in Wellsboro, Penn.  Mrs. Totman was born December 10, 1868. In 1907 she was married to Levi W. Totman. They spent all their married life in Bristol Center.
Mrs. Totman was a member of the Bristol Methodist Church. Since the death of her husband in 1920, Mrs. Totman lived in Middlebury Center.
 She is survived by a step daughter, Mrs. Louis Mayer of New York City, and several step children. Service and interment in Middlebury Center.

Marion I. Case, age 77, of Canandaigua, died November 8, 1963, at the F. F. Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua.

 
He is survived by four sons, George K., Robert W., Burrell L., of Canandaigua, and Donald R. Case of Indianapolis, Indiana, three daughters, Mrs. Donald Marx of Canandaigua, Mrs. Raymond Mumbry of Sodus, and Mrs. Isobel A. Mincer of Canandaigua, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Henry C. Burgess of Canandaigua, a brother, Edson I. Case of Bristol Beach, Ontario, several nieces and nephews.
 
Friends may call at the Kennedy Funeral Home Sunday. The Merrill Hose Co. will meet at the funeral home Sunday. A Masonic service at the funeral home Sunday. Services 2 PM Monday in the funeral home, Rev. Harold Avery of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating.  Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 Knopf - Joyce Troth Announcement
Announcement is made of the engagement of Miss Katherine Knopf, daughter of Elmer L. Knopf, of Stanley, to Mr. Robert W. Joyce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Joyce, 208 Gorham Street. 

The bride-elect is a graduate of Gorham Central School and State University College at Brockport. Her fiancé, a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and Niagara University, is a member of the faculties at Pittsford High School and the Rochester Institute of Technology Evening College.   The wedding will take place June 20.

George GUNNISON - Canandaigua - George GUNNISON of Canandaigua died Saturday (May 1, 1964).  He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Theodore H. TOWNSEND of Waterville and Mrs. William MILLARD of Canandaigua; a son, George, of Penfield, 13 grand children and 14 great grand children.  Services were to be held at the Canandaigua Methodist church at 2:30 pm today.  Burial was to be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 Obituary - Mrs. Raymond Rodney
Mrs. Elizabeth McCarthy Rodney, wife of Raymond R. Rodney, of 135 Washington Street, died Tuesday evening in Thompson Hospital.
Mrs. Rodney was born June 1, 1904, the daughter of Patrick H. and Catherine Morris McCarthy, and had always lived here. She was a member
of St. Mary's Church and the Rosary-Altar Society. 
Besides her husband, Mrs. Rodney is survived by two sons, Maj. Richard M. Rodney, US Army, stationed at Heldleberg, Germany, and
Raymond R. Rodney Jr., Canandaigua, a daughter, Mrs. (Bernard) Mary Anne Knopf, Canandaigua Road, four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Henry Matthews, Baltimore, Maryland, and one niece.
 A prayer service at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home will be followed by a requiem mass at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.   Burial will
be in Calvary Cemetery.

R. C. VanDenbergh, formerly of Canandaigua, celebrated his 90th birthday anniversary Sunday at IOOF Home, Lockport, where he has resided for a year.
His granddaughters, Miss Meryl Hanley, Rochester and Mrs. William A. Andrews, and children, Thomas, Rebecca, Melinda, Todd and Ellen,
North Road, spent the afternoon with him, also his sons, Karl and Raymond VanDenbergh, Rochester.
He received a shower of cards from Canandaigua Senior Citizens, Odd Fellows and other friends.

Obituaries - Miss Catherine Donnelly of Victor
 
Miss Catherine E. Donnelly, Victor, formerly of Canandaigua, died Sunday in Thompson Hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks.
A native of Canandaigua, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Alice Morris Donnelly. She had lived in Victor the past 40 years.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Theresa B. Ryan and Mrs. Alice M. Brady, both of Victor, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today at the funeral home of Victor J. Tiescher 90 E. Main Street, Canandaigua, where a prayer service will be held Tuesday
at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 9:30 at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua.

Obituaries -  William J. Fogarty
 
Requiem Mass for William J. Fogarty was held today in St. Mary's Church. Mr. Fogarty died Friday at his home, 20 West Gibson Street.
For 18 years Mr. Fogarty serviced as office manager and treasurer of Roseland Park.
A lifelong resident of this city, he was the son of James S. and Sarah Phipps Fogarty. He attended local schools and was employed for 24
years as a postal  clerk at the former Lisk Manufacturing Co. In 1941 he operated the former Webster Hotel here and three years later joined the
Roseland staff. He retired in 1962. 
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Blanche Forman Fogarty, two sons, James E. and Ronald W. Fogarty of Canandaigua, a daughter, Mrs. Paul J.
McGuane of Interlaken, seven grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Charles Henderson and Mrs. Katherine Lapham of Canandaigua and Mrs. Edward M. Breen, of Rochester, and several nieces and nephews.        [buried in Woodlawn Cemetery]

Obituary -  Mrs. Harry Pimm
Mrs. Emma G. Pimm, 87, of
183 North Pearl Street , died Tuesday in Thompson Hospital following a long illness.
A native of
Farmington , Mrs. Pimm was born July 11, 1880 . She came to Canandaigua 44 years ago. She was the widow of Harry Pimm.
Mrs. Pimm was a member of the
United Church , the DH Society, Rochester Road Sewing Society, and the Senior Citizens.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Roger Lois Avery and a son, Stanto Webster, both of Canandaigua, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today and Thursday at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Frederick Magley, pastor of the
United Church , will officiate at the funeral service Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Farmington Friends Cemetery .

 CANANDAIGUA -   EDWARD  H.  JOYCE
 The funeral will be tomorrow for Edward H. Joyce, former alderman and merchant who died Wednesday night, December 13, 1967.  A prayer service at 8:30 a. m. in the McElwee Funeral Home will be followed by requiem Mass at 9 a. m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Joyce was born in Farmington and was graduated from Victor High School. He moved to this city many years ago and conducted a grocery business for more than 30 years on Coach and South Main Streets.
Serving three times as a city alderman, Mr. Joyce later was commissioner of dog licenses in the State Department of Agriculture and
Markets. He also served as chairman of the Ontario County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
Mr. Joyce was past president of Canandaigua Democratic Club, and exempt member of Erina Hose Fire Company and member of St. Mary's Church. In recent years he engaged in sale of real estate.
Mr. Joyce and his wife, the former Catherine Buckley, observed their 59th wedding anniversary here in 1966.
Surviving besides the widow are three sons, Edward P. of Canandaigua, John T. of Newark and Robert W. of Palmyra, and three
grandchildren.

Obituary  -   Mrs. Jane F. Skutt

Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Flood Skutt, of Ithaca, was held this afternoon at the Farnsworth Funeral Chapel in North Rose. Burial
was in Rose Cemetery.
Mrs. Skutt, a former resident of Canandaigua, died Sunday in Tompkins County Hospital, Ithaca, from injuries suffered Thursday,
August 1, in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Skutt was the daughter of the late John and Clara Engert Flood of Canandaigua.  Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. John Roberts, a son, Alex Skutt, a sister, Mrs. Rowland Hughey, Geneva, and a brother, John Flood, Geneva.

this city.

Obituaries -  Mrs. Mildred A. Buck
Mrs. Mildred A. Buck, of 28 Dungan Street, died unexpectedly Sunday in Thompson Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Canandaigua, Mrs. Buck had been employed for many years at the Veterans Administration Hospital. She was a member of
the Unified Methodist Church and the Tuesday Bridge Club.
Survivors are a son, Eugene L., of Winter Park, Fla., two brothers, Arthur Andrews, of Penfield and Melvin Andrews, of Miami, Fla.
Friends may call Tuesday at the Kennedy Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. The Rev. A. Allison
Childs, pastor of the United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Lillian Long Brennan, 75 Stewart Street, Rochester, died Wednesday. She was a former resident of Canandaigua.
Survivors are her husband, James E. Brennan and several cousins including Mr. and Mrs. R. Milton Hanley, Mrs. Edward Hanley and Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Hanley, all of Canandaigua. Friends may call at the Byrne Funeral Home, 1256 Mt. Hope Ave, Rochester, where a Requiem Mass will be said Saturday at 10 A.M. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester.

Sm. John E. Rayburn, US Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rayburn, Albany, formerly of Canandaigua, recently visited his grandmother, Mrs.
John F. Southworth, 237 Center Street,his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Finagan, Lafayette Highway, and other relatives in Holcomb. On
ten day leave, he returned Monday to his base at Norfolk, Va.
