Obituaries - Clarence J. Taylor 
Clarence J. Taylor, 160 West Ave., died this morning in Thompson Hospital.  A native of Canandaigua, Mr. Taylor's parents were John Taylor and Catherine Barrett.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Linehan Taylor, and one brother, George Taylor, San Francisco, California, and his nephew, Rev. Francis Taylor, pastor of St. Boniface Church, Rochester, and several cousins.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Obituaries - Elmer L. Knopf

STANLEY -  Elmer L. Knopf, 74, retired Stanley farmer, died Friday in Clifton Springs Hospital.  Mr. Knopf was born in Batavia and spent most of his life in the Stanley area.

He leaves two sons, Elmer Jr. of Stanley, Arthur of Rushville, five daughters, Miss Elaine Knopf of Stanley, Mrs. James Eleanor Gould of
Bemus Point, Mrs. Samuel Marian Cimino of West Webster, Mrs. Charles Delores Paywer of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Robert Kathryn Joyce, of
Palmyra, one brother, Adrian of Canandaigua, two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Maley, of Wayland, and Mrs. Mabel Nonweiler, of Toledo, Ohio, and 18
grandchildren.
Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church tomorrow at 8:30 and burial in Calvary Cemetery.

 Obituaries       J. H. Brahm Sr. 
John H. Brahm Sr., 72, of 200 Center Street, died today in Thompson Hospital after an illness of three weeks. 
A lifelong resident of Canandaigua, Mr. Brahm owned and operated the Glant Trucking Service, and later operated a dairy here. He was also
in the livestock business.
Mr. Brahm had a lifetime membership in the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Barber Brahm, two sons, John Jr. and Vernon L., both of Canandaigua, one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Betty
Fletcher of Canandaigua, two brothers, Clarence of Alexandria, Va., and Irving of Canandaigua, two sisters, Mrs. Albert Hilda Smithem of
Clearwater, Fla., and Mrs. Elsie Liddiard of Canandaigua, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Obituaries    Mrs. John Erdle
Mrs. Jennie M. Erdle, 73, of Middle Cheshire Road, died yesterday in Thompson Hospital.
She was born in Allen's Hill, the daughter of the late James and Mary McGreevy Meehan.  Mrs. Erdle was a member of St. Mary's Church. She and her husband John S.,  celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 1971.
Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Miss Marian Erdle, of Canandaigua and Mrs. William Genevieve Chritiansen and Mrs.
Charles Jean Langbrein, both of Rochester, eight sons, Edward of Victor, Carl of Phelps, James, Leo and Robert, of Canandaigua, John and Morris,
both of Rochester, and Gerald of Holcomb, and 26 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the McElwee Funeral Home today and tomorrow, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. followed by a
Mass at St. Mary's Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Woman Forfeits Bail, Jailed - A woman who had forfeited bail on a charge of criminal possession of stolen property was returned to Victor justice court at 5 am, last Friday, on a bench warrant, issued by Town Justice Charles ROSEDorothea BROWN of 131 York Street, Rochester, was originally arraigned before Town Justice Raymond PHILLIPS of Farmington, and at that time posted $100 bail and asked for a free lawyer.  According to the assigned lawyer, the defendant never met with him when requested.  Neither did she appear on the adjourned day of court.   The woman was committed to Ontario County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.  She told the court that this time, she would get her own lawyer.

Obituaries  -   Mrs. Genevieve Tanea, 62, of 365 Gibson Street, died unexpectedly Saturday at her home.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Gordon VanGelder and her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Long, both of Canandaigua, two sisters, Mrs. Ethelbert Seiler of East Bloomfield and Mrs. James Neenan, of Lima, a brother, J. P. Long, of West Delford, N.J., and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

 Obituary -  Mrs. Helen I. Andrews, 58, of 94 Willys Place, died unexpectedly yesterday in Thompson Hospital where she had been a patient for a week.  Her husband, Kenneth A. Andrews Sr., died February 1.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Jr., Penn Yan and William A. of Canandaigua, four daughters, Mrs. John Shirley Polmeri, of Canandaigua,
Mrs. Leonard Beverly Mortensen, of Painted Post, Mrs. Floyd Barbara Badger of Canandaigua and Mrs. Delos Joanne Curtis of Naples, her
father, Earl Brown of Elmira, a sister, Marie Prosser of Canandaigua, 23 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Kennedy Funeral Home, Bristol Street today and tomorrow. Services will be conducted there Thursday at 11 a.m. with
burial in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

 Republican Candidates:  Robert P. Kennedy
Kennedy, a 51 year old native of Canandaigua became a Supreme Court Justice on May 5, succeeding Dominic Gabrielli of Bath, who was elected
to the State Court of Appeals.
A graduate of Georgetown University Law School in 1949, Kennedy was admitted to the State Bar in 1950. Two years later he became assistant
district attorney in Canandaigua and held the position until 1968 when he stepped up to DA.
Later that year he was appointed County Judge when the incumbent died in office; he was elected to the post in November. He also worked
in Family Court and on assignment in the State Supreme Court until his appointment last May. He is a former president of the Ontario County Bar
Association, and lives at 124 W. Gibson Street in Canandaigua.   He is single.

Mrs. Alta Rogers of Middlesex - Funeral services for Mrs. Alta Rogers, 78, of Middlesex, were Tuesday in the New Funeral Chapel, Rushville. The Rev. Craig Graham, pastor of the Middlesex Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. Mrs. Rogers died Saturday, Feb. 23, 1974 at F. F. Thompson Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua. Mrs. Rogers had lived in the Middlesex area for many years. During the past year she resided with a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Bolansky, Town of Middlesex. She was a member of the Middlesex Baptist Church. Besides Mrs. Bolansky, surviving are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Leta Clark of Rochester, 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Valley Ambulance Fund.

DEATHS -  Irving A. Brahm
Irving A. Brahm, 67, of 5 Bristol Court, died in Thompson Hospital yesterday after a brief illness.  He was born in Gorham, the son of the late Julius and Barbara Kuntz Brahm.
Mr. Brahm was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Canandaigua, the Shriners, The Odd Fellow and The United Church.  He was retired from the Finger Lakes Dairy. He was a member of the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Association and the Mutual Hook and Ladder Co.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Fox Brahm, of Canandaigua, one brother, Clarence J. Brahm, of Alexandria, Va., two sisters, Mrs. Albert Hilda Smithem, of Florida and Mrs. Elsie Liddiard of Canandaigua, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call tomorrow at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday.
An Odd Fellow service will be held at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow followed by an 8 p.m. Masonic service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Obituaries - Mrs. Helen C. Breen 
 Mrs. Helen C. Breen, 77, of 215 Park Street, died yesterday.  Mrs. Breen was employed at the VA Hospital for 16 years prior to her retirement in 1963. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Canandaigua Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John Mary Decker of Pittsford, a sister, Margaruite Hill of Canandaigua, and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home today and tomorrow. A prayer service will be held there Saturday at 9:30 followed
by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Obituaries  -  Leonard Monaghan
 Leonard W. Monaghan, 83, of 112 Park Ave., died today in Thompson Hospital.  A lifelong resident of the Canandaigua area, Mr. Monaghan was a retired rural mail carrier.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Holy Name Society, the Rural Carriers Association and the National Associat6ion of Retired Federal Employees.
His parents were John and Ella O'Connor Monaghan.
Mr. Monaghan graduated from St. Mary's and the Canandaigua Academy. He served in the US Army field artillery World War I.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth C., two sons, L. Edward of Canandaigua and John R. of Mansfield, Pa., two daughters, Miss Jean
Monaghan, of New York City and Mrs. Robert Mary Guinan, of Lancaster, Ohio, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers,
Emmett and Frank of Canandaigua, George and David of New York City, and William of Clarksburg, Md., two sisters, Sister Marian of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Rochester, and Mrs. William Ann Cross of Canandaigua, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 A.M. at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Obituary -  Earl  W.  Johnston 
Earl W. Johnston, 51, of 86 Ellis Place, died unexpectedly yesterday at Thompson Hospital.
He had formerly worked for Canandaigua Express Co. and at the time of his death he was employed by Seneca Dairy Company.
A life member of the Canandaigua Elks Club, he twice served as exalted ruler of the fraternal organization. He also had served as
co-chairman of the cerebral palsy program, chairman of the national foundation, and was a trustee.
Mr. Johnston was also a member of the American Legion Post 256 in Canandaigua and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A graduate of Canandaigua Academy, has served with the US Army in the India-Burma-China Theater in World War II from 1943 to 1945. 
Mr. Johnston is survived by his mother, Irene Johnston, one sister, Mrs. Stillman Alma Simmons, and one brother, George F. Johnston Jr., all
of Canandaigua, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home, where services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be an Elks Club service Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Obituaries -  Cloid A. Sprankle
Cloid A. Sprankle, 92, died yesterday.    He owned and operated a grocery store on South Main Street for many years. He was a 32d Degree Mason.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward Stiles, of Holcomb, one son, Kenneth, of Sumner, Md., three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home tomorrow evening at 7:30. Funeral services will be held there Wednesday at 2 P.M.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

CANANDAIGUA, NY -   Justice Robert P. Kennedy, of Supreme Court, injured in a tractor accident on his farm, remained in critical condition today.  His brother, Mayor T. Hamilton Kennedy of Canandaigua, said the 54 year old jurist was working on the tractor Friday night when it suddenly moved and ran over him.  Kennedy crawled to his automobile and drove to a nearby house in Bristol, where he collapsed the owner said.

Charlotte A. Breen, of Hamlin, formerly of Canandaigua, NY, died Sunday. 

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Breen, one brother, E. Edward, and one sister, Mrs. Kenneth Barbara Belkirch, all of Rochester, John Strassler of Hamlin, several nieces and aunts and uncles, Mrs. Katherine Lapham, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henderson, Mrs. William Fogarty, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Coyne, and Mrs. Roy Chapman, all of Canandaigua.
Friends may call at the Bartholomew Funeral Home, Lexington Avenue, Rochester today and tomorrow. A funeral service will be held Wednesday

Margaret B. Meath, 78, of 32 Perry Place, died yesterday at her home.  Mrs. Meath was the widow of P. Howard Meath, who died in 1972. She
had lived in Canandaigua for 62 years.
Mrs. Meath was a member of St. Mary's Church where she was an active member of the Rosary Society, the Vicent DePaul Society and the
mission group.
Mrs. Meath is survived by five sons, Edward H. and Howard F. of Rochester, Paul J. and G. Barry and David G. of Canandaigua, 16
grandchildren and one great grandchild, three sisters, Anna McCarthy, Julia Barry and Sister Gabrielle, Carmelite Order, all of Boston, and
several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call the F. H. McElwee Funeral Home today, where a funeral service will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Hanleys Celebrate Anniversary
The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. R. Milton Hanley, 114 Granger Street, was celebrated Friday with an 8 A.M. Mass at St.
Mary's Church, Canandaigua, at which time their wedding vows were renewed.
The mass was con celebrated by Father David Gaeser of St. Mary's and Father James Callan, Corpus Christi Parish, Rochester, formerly of
St. Mary's.
Mr. Hanley and the former Meryl VanDenbergh of Rochester were married by the late Father Florack in St. Peter's and Paul's Church, Rochester, on Friday, September 2, 1927.
Mrs. Hanley worked as a bookkeeper for many years and Mr. Hanley was a linotypist at the Daily Messenger and the Democrat and Chronicle
in Rochester until his retirement 11 years ago.
They have lived the majority of their lives in Canandaigua and have three children, Miss Meryl Hanley, of Fairport, Mrs. William A. Donna
Andrews, of Canandaigua and R. Ronald Hanley, of Henrietta. They also have 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A family dinner was held at the Town Pump Friday evening for 28, hosted by their children and their spouses. Guests were from Rochester,
Henrietta, Fairport, Victor, Newark, Geneseo, Ithaca, Manchester and Canandaigua.
 During the Mass at St. Mary's, Milton and Meryl's Son-In-Law, William Andrews, their Grandson, Thomas Hanley Andrews, and their son,
Ron Hanley, all sang both together and solo, several hymns and song favorites of the couple.  "Amazing Grace", "The Lord's Prayer",
"Memories", and "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing", were some of the selections.

CANANDAIGUA  - John Ryan,  age 73, St. John's Court, died Tuesday, June 9, 1987, at Clifton Springs Hospital
Mr. Ryan owned and operated Ryan's Liquor store for more than 23 years. He was a member of the Arena Hose Company, the Geneva Elk's Club, and St. Mary's Church. 
He was the husband of the late Kathryn McNerny Ryan, who died in 1984. He is survived by three sons, Edward Patrick of Pittsford, John Robert Jr., Canandaigua, Timothy Michael, IN, three daughters, Constance Thornton, GA, Carol Miller, Honeoye Falls, Patricia Walker, GA, one sister, Madeline McCumber, Canandaigua, 14 grandchildren.
 
Friends may call Thursday and Friday at McElwee Fuller Funeral Home, 200 Buffalo St., Canandaigua. A prayer service will be held Saturday 9:30 a. m., at the funeral home followed at 10 a. m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church.   Burial Calvary Cemetery.

VETERAN MAYOR DIES 
CANANDAIGUA---   T. Hamilton Kennedy, a former mayor of this Ontario County city, has died at the age of 67.
Kennedy, who died Sunday at his home, served seven consecutive terms as mayor, from November 1963 to January 1978. He was known for
instituting the city manager form of government in the late 1960's.
A native of Canandaigua,  Kennedy came from a family devoted to public service. His brother, State Supreme Court Justice Robert P. Kennedy, died in 1985. Their father, Thomas D. Kennedy, was city treasurer for 29 years.
Kennedy retired in January as a traffic manager for Xerox Corp., where he worked for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his mother, a sister, a daughter, four sons and   a grandson. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Canandaigua.

CANANDAIGUA  -  Edward P. Joyce of West Lake Road, a former employee of the U. S. Postal Service, died Wednesday February 27, at Thompson Hospital after a brief illness. He was 72.
A lifelong resident of Canandaigua, Mr. Joyce retired in 1981 after 45 years with the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of the
Canandaigua Centerpointe Country Club, American Legion Post 256, and St. Mary's Church.
During World War II, Mr. Joyce served with the U. S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theater during World War II and later served in the Korean War.
Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, John T. and Kathleen Joyce of Newark and Robert W. and Katherine Joyce of Palmyra.
Friends may call tomorrow at the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home, 13 Bristol St. and Sunday. A prayer service will be held Monday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary's Church  at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Newark  -  Kathleen Wade Joyce died yesterday July 23, 1994 at Clifton Springs Hospital. She was 58.

Mrs. Joyce was born on December 6, 1935, the daughter of George and Lyola Wise Wade of Canandaigua. A graduate of Canandaigua Academy and Alfred State, she was employed as a reading aide at the Lincoln School in Newark.

Mrs. Joyce was a communicant of St. Michaels's Church in Newark, and a member of the Newark Garden Club. She was also a member of the Newark Country Club and the Newark - Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, John T., two sons, John W. Joyce of Buffalo and Stephen M. Joyce of Rochester, her parents, brother Richard G. Wade of Canandaigua, sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Sheldon Rogers of Birmingham, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call tomorrow at the Parker Rayfield and Murphy Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a. m. at St. Michael's Church in Newark. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.

'Big John' Haight Dies
CANANDAIGUA-Well known Canandaigua businessman JOHN A. 'BIG JOHN' Haight of Brook Street died yesterday [March 23] at Thompson Hospital. He was 55. "He was certainly a person who loved is community and did a lot to reach out to individuals who needed help," Mayor Ellen Pollimeni said.  Former City Councilman Dick Reed , an uncle of Mr. Haight, said his nephew was a warm person who especially enjoyed brightening the lives of underprivileged children.
During the Christmas holidays, Mr. Haight played Santa Claus at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Hillside Children's Center,
the Moose Club, Elm Manor, Masonic Lodge and the Migrant Children's Center in Bloomfield.
"It was just his general makeup. He was a people person." Reed said. 

Mr. Haight , who was born Sept. 2, 1938 in Canandaigua, was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and served in the Marine Corps from 1956 to 1962.  He was a partner in Big John's and Sergeant Major's Bar and Grill on Phoenix Street and operated Easy Moving Company.  He also worked for various trucking companies over the years, including Purdy Express in Flint, Howard Expressin Geneva, and K.J. Transportation in Farmington. He also worked for Tony's Pizza, Farmers Inn, the old Gleasons Bar and the Pickering Hotel.
Ed Woodard, a bartender at Wally's Pub - which is next door to Big John's and Sergeant Major's Bar and Grill--said he remembers Mr. Haight as a nice person.  "He was a jolly guy, heck of a good guy," Woodward said. "You just couldn't say a thing bad about him".
Mr. Haight's sister, Mary Russell of St. Joseph, Mich. said her brother had a "heart of gold."  "He was always the backbone of our family. We all looked up to him and he held us together, kept us smiling and laughing." Russell said.
Mr. Haight was a member of the United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 1048 and 294. Elks Club,American Legion, Cooper Marine Post, Erina Hose, Vintage Auto Racing Club and the Canandain Motor Racing Historical Society. He was also a charter member of the Williams Grove Old Timers and the Atlantic Coast Old Timers Club.
In 1981, Mr. Haight was declared a "world champion doughnut eater" by Guinness Superlatives, Ltd. - the company that publishes the Guinness Book Of World Records- after he consumed 52 ounces of Bavarian cream doughnuts in 361.5 seconds. The contest was sponsored by Dee's Donuts in Parkway Plaza, which is now owned by his brother, James Haight.
He is survived by his parents, Henry and Anne  Haight of Canandaigua; former wife, Winfred; a daughter, Cynthia Sulzener
of Canandaigua; a son, Sidney Haight of Florida; a stepson, Joe Seager of Canandaigua; two brothers, Robert Haight of South Carolina and James Haight of Canandaigua; three sisters, Anne Wells of Farmington, Sandra Haight of Adams center, and Mary Russell of St. Joseph, Mich; and 10 grandchildren.
Friends may call tomorrow at the McElwee-Fuller Funeral Home,200 Buffalo St., from 2 to 4 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made in his memory to Camp Good Days and Special Times Inc.  1332 Pittsford-Mendon Road, Mendon, NY 14506 0r to the Canandaigua Emergency Squad.

RUSH, ROY  H. - Canandaigua: age 93. Nov. 18, 1999. Survived by his wife of 58 years,  Elaine (Billy) SMITH RUSH; a sister, Helen BRUST of Albion; 4 children, Carol (Walt) LOYAL, N. Fort Myers, FL., Joan CAPRON, Canandaigua, Lee (Bish) RUSH and Lynn (Debbie) RUSH all of Shortsville; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. 
Predeceased by 3 brothers, LeVern, Luther and Harold; son-in-law, James CAPRON.  He lived most of his life in Manchester. Retired in 1971 from Comstock Foods, where he was Plant Superintendent. A Veteran of U. S. Coast Guard.  Calling hours Sat. 1 p.m. at the Sainsbury Funeral Home, 78 W. Main, Shortsville, followed by a Funeral Service. Burial at Brookside Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the House  of John.

John  T.  Joyce - NEWARK
John T. Joyce, 75, died Sunday March 16, 2002, at his home on  Highland Avenue.  Friends may call on Monday, March 18, at the Paul L. Murphy and Son Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Prayers will be at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a 9 a. m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Church, with the Father Peter Clifford officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua.
Memorials in his name may be made to St. Michael's Church, 401 South Main St., Newark, NY 14513, or the Genesee Regional Hospice, 513 W. Union St., Newark, NY.
Mr. Joyce was born January 14, 1927 in Canandaigua, the son of Edward H. and Katherine Buckley Joyce. He graduated from Canandaigua Academy, attended Clemson College in South Carolina, and was a graduate
of the Rochester Business Institute.
For many years, he was affiliated with C. H. Stuart and Company of Newark. He was one of the pioneers of the growth and development of the Sarah Coventry organization and served as president of the C. H. Stuart Company.
John was involved in many facets of the community. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. He had served on various committees for the Newark Wayne Community Hospital, on the Lincoln First Bank advisory board, and was a member and past president of the Newark Country Club. John was an active member of Ducks Unlimited, the 1249 Hunting Club, the Newark Rod and Gun Club and the Newark Elks Lodge.
He was also a member of the Canandaigua American Legion Post. During World War II, John served in the U. S. Army Air Force. He was a control tower operator with the 133rd Airways Communications Squadron in Germany as the war ended and during the post war era.
John is survived by two sons, John W. of Canandaigua and Steven, Sandy, of Irondequoit, and a brother, Robert, Katherine, of Macedon. He is also survived by his mother, and father-in-law, George and Lyola Wade of Canandaigua, his brother-in-law, Richard Wade of Canandaigua, his sister-in-law Marilyn Rogers of California, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
John was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen, "Kathy", in 1994, and a brother, Edward, in 1991.

Roger W. AVERY, Esquire, on January 19, 2005 , peacefully at age 66, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carole E. Avery; devoted sons, Brian Dr. Susan Yorks Avery of Pittsford, NY, and Bradley Michelle Avery of Alexandria, VA; grandsons, Griffin and John Avery; mother, Lois Avery of Canandaigua, NY; sisters, Carol Robert Lampe of Ballston Spa, NY, and Constance Joseph Bellanca of Rochester; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
He was predeceased in death by his father, Roger C. Avery of Canandaigua.
Roger was born and raised in
Canandaigua , NY , graduated from Canandaigua Academy , Miami University of Ohio and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Syracuse University College of Law.
He was a well-known, highly regarded trial lawyer in
Rochester and Western New York for 40 years. He was a member of the Monroe County, New York State, and American Bar Associations. During his career he served as a Trustee of the Monroe County Bar Association, Trustee of the Monroe County Bar Foundation, and on numerous committees of the Bar Association.
Outside the law, Roger had many interests, but his devotion to his family and church always came first. He and Carole were active members of both Reformation and
Incarnate Word Lutheran Churches for nearly 40 years. If the law was his vocation, then singing was his avocation. Roger sang for years in the choirs of both churches and was a member of the Eastman Rochester Chorus. His love of both classical and sacred music brought him much comfort, joy, and peace.
He played softball for many years with his beloved Leagle Eagles, loved the game of golf, and was an avid supporter of
Syracuse University athletics. Roger and Carole loved spending summer weekends with family and close friends at their cottage on Keuka Lake-- boating, swimming, kayaking and hiking.
Calling hours Friday, January 28,
2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. 2305 Monroe Ave. . Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, at 10:30 A.M. at Incarnate Word Lutheran Church , 597 East Ave. , Rev. David Roppel officiating.
    Interment Woodlawn Cemetery , Canandaigua , NY .

Sprentall, Dorothy Higgins  CANANDAIGUA: 1917 - 2005.
 
Dorothy Higgins Sprentall, most recently of Ferris Hills at West  Lake in Canandaigua, NY died July 31, 2005. 
Dorothy Elizabeth  Higgins was born in Granville, NY, January 10, 1917, the youngest of four children of Henry and Belle Huber Higgins. She was raised on Pearl Street in  Canandaigua and graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in English.
Dorothy taught briefly in Port Byron, NY, before marrying H. Robert Sprentall,  also of Canandaigua, in 1939. The couple resided in the Rochester area where he  was an executive at Kodak for over 40 years and together they raised three boys.
Dorothy was an avid gardener, always known for her immaculate, beautiful  flowerbeds, and abundant vegetable gardens. Throughout her life she was active  in the Methodist  Church, loved the out-of-doors, horses and classical music. After returning to Canandaigua in  1994, she generously volunteered her time in the community at Sonnenberg Gardens and through church activities.

 

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband  in 1986 and is survived by her three sons, Robert of New Buffalo, MI, Richard (Barbara) of Newfield, NY, and David  (Karen) of Phoenix,  AZ. She is also survived by 6  grandchildren, Peter, Cyndi Sprentall Gray, Robert, Karl, Erik and Sarah Kate;  brother-in-law, Tom Sprentall, formerly of Canandaigua; niece, Helen M. Ellis  of Canandaigua; 3 great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 5, 2005 at 12:30pm at the  First United Methodist Church, Canandaigua, the Rev. Hal Mohler, officiating.
Arrangements are made through Kennedy & Son Funeral  Home, 15 Bristol  Street, Canandaigua. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pearl Street in  Canandaigua, directly behind her childhood home, truly home again. In lieu of  flowers, please consider memorial donations to the First United Methodist  Church, 100 North Main Street, and to Sonnenberg Gardens, 151 Charlotte  Street, both in Canandaigua, NY  14424.

Canandaigua - : Mr. Martin J. Wyffels, Jr., age 82, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007, at Aaron Manor Nursing Home in Fairport. Mr. Wyffels attended Cheshire Schools. He married Marge Lush of Clifton Springs in 1947. He worked on his family's dairy farm, on Middle Cheshire Road, for 40 years. Later he worked as a carpenter and builder until 1986. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. He is survived by his former wife, Marge Wyffels of Manchester; his daughter, Sandy Vistocco, of Webster; his sons, Jeff (Karen) Wyffels of Birmingham, AL, and Dan (Patty) Wyffels of Williamsburg, VA; his grandchildren, Michael Harris (Christopher Haupert) of Hudson, NY, Michele (Kevin) Salva of Fairport, Mark Harris (T.J. Snyder) and Erin Quon, all of San Francisco, CA , Jodie, Tommy and Lisa Wyffels all of Williamsburg, VA; his great-grandchildren, C.J. and Kacie Salva and Tatum Quon; his brothers, Albert Wyffels of Canandaigua, Donald (Mary Lou) Wyffels of Canandaigua, and sister-in-law, Peggy Wyffels of Canandaigua. He was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Adeline, his daughter, Deborah Wyffels, and his brothers, Dick and Bob Wyffels. Friends may call on Sunday from 7-9 pm at the Kennedy & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 15 Bristol St., Canandaigua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 o'clock at St. Mary's Church, 95 North Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Avery, Lois W. -  Canandaigua: Passed away
September 12, 2008 , at Monroe Community Hospital . She was 95. Lois was a lifelong resident of Canandaigua.
She is survived by daughters, Constance  Joseph  Bellanca and Carol  Robert  Lampe; daughter-in-law, Carole  David  Webster; brother-in-law, Hiram  Peggy Avery; sisters-in-law, Loretta and Virginia Avery; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews.
Lois was predeceased by her husband, Roger C. Avery; son, Roger W. Avery; brother, Stanton Webster; brothers-in-law, John, Theodore and James.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Grande Vie Care House and
Monroe Community Hospital for the loving care they gave Lois.
