WEDDING
Baker - McCallum
At
the North Presbyterian church last evening took place the marriage of Emma
Margaret Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Baker, of Geneva, to Olin
Edgar McCallum, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. McCallum of Oaks Corners. The
ceremony was performed by the Rev. David H. Craver, the ring service being used.
The young couple were attended by Miss Olive Baker, sister of the bride,
and Joseph McCallum, brother of the groom.
The bride wore a suit of blue chiffon broadcloth, with white
hat and veil. The bridesmaid wore a suit of blue serge with a black hat. Mr.
and Mrs. McCallum left amid a shower of rice on the train for a wedding trip
to Rochester, Buffalo and other points. After December 15th they will be at 23
Godelle Terrace. Among the prenuptial events was a china shower given by Miss
Glenora McCallum, and a variety shower by Miss Olive Baker.

Mrs. Louise Nellis, 69, widow of Byron Nellis, died
Wednesday night, May 27, 1942, after a long illness. She was born in New York City, the daughter of Jacob Baker,
July 12, 1872, and came to Lyons to live when a girl.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Augusta Rockwell of Indiana, Mrs. Richard Kleinhenz of Lyons, and Mrs. B. Grendeau of Rochester, four sons, Byron, a patient in a veterans hospital, Raymond and Deo Nellis of Lyons, and Harold Nellis of Newark, two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Baker of Lyons, and Mrs. Katherine Brock of Newark, also 14 grandchildren. The funeral will be held today in the home of the daughter, Mrs. Kleinhenz, 50 Montezuma Street, with the Rev. Norman W. Ross of the Broad St. Lutheran Church officiating. Her body was interred 1942 Lyons, New York, Lyons Rural Cemetery.

Lyons
- Byron Nellis, 72, for 47 years an engineer with the New
York Central Railroad until his retirement four years ago, died in Lyons
Hospital Friday night after a brief illness.
Born
in St. Johnsville, Mr. Nellis also worked for the railroad in Geneva and
DeWitt. He leaves his widow, Louise
Nellis, three daughters, Mrs. Bernard Gendreau, Rochester, Mrs.
Richard Kleinhenz, Canandaigua, and Mrs. Robert Rockwell, Winter
Haven, Fla., four sons, Byron, Raymond, and Deo Nellis, Lyons, and Harold
Nellis, Newark, three brothers, Bruce, St. Johnsville, Charles,
Little Falls, and Ernest Nellis, Philadelphia, and three sisters, Mrs.
William Montgomery, Orville, Mrs. Daniel Ruller, Buffalo, and Mrs.
Elmer Walwrath, Syracuse. The Rev. Norman W.
Ross, First Lutheran Church will conduct services in 19 Jackson St,
with burial here.

Ells, of England. It also states she was a widow, and came to the US 33
years ago.

Mrs.
Anne M. Rannie died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Alexander
Grieve, Chapin Street on Saturday after an illness of 10 weeks. Mrs.
Rannie was born in Devonshire, England 84 years ago. She had been in this
country about 33 years. Two
daughters survive her, Mrs. Alexander Grieve and Mrs. W. M. Smith, Gorham
Street.
Her death record shows her father to be William Ells, but her
grave marker shows Bales as a surname.

OBITUARY - RANNIE
Mr.
John Rannie, an old and well known citizen of Palmyra, dropped dead at the
Cumming House in that place on Sunday evening at about nine o'clock.
Mr. Rannie had been in his usual health, although he sustained a
severe fall on the icy pavements about two weeks ago.

HANLEY - BALL
In St. Mary's Catholic Church, Saturday morning, June 15,
1944, took place the wedding of Miss Lena Louise Ball, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William G. Alexander of Waterloo, formerly of Canandaigua, and
Private Albert F. Hanley, Jr., USA, Camp Clairborne, Louisiana, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Albert F. Hanley of South Mains Street. The Rev. J. M. O'Beirne,
assistant pastor, performing the ceremony.
Attendants
were Miss Liza E. Ball, Waterloo, twin sister of the bride, Miss
Dorothy Felelys, of Seneca Falls, and Miss Genevieve Erdle,
Rochester, and Albert F. Hanley, Sr., father of the bridegroom, Charles
J. Cowan and Robert Hanley. Following
the ceremony a reception to about 50 guests was held at the home of the
bridegroom's parents.
After a brief wedding trip, Private Hanley will return
to camp and his bride will remain in Waterloo. Both are graduates of Canandaigua
Academy.

In
St. Mary's rectory Thursday morning took place the marriage of Miss Pauline
E. Barber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer E. Barber, and Edward C.
McCarthy, son of Mrs. Helen F. McCarthy, all of this city.
The Rev. Michael C. Wall, rector, performed the ceremony.
The
bride who was attended by her sister, Mrs. John D. Cotton, wore a navy
blue and white ensemble with matching accessories.
She carried a shower bouquet of white roses.
Mrs. Cotton wore an ensemble of pale orange plaid organza with
white accessories. She carried
yellow gladiolas.
Thomas D. Kennedy acted as best man.
A
wedding breakfast was served in Wenna Kenna, East Lake Shore.
The bride is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 25, and Cortland
Normal School, class of 29. For two
years after her graduation she taught in the Geneva schools, and for the past
four years has been an instructor in the city schools. Mr. McCarthy attended
the Academy, and is employed at Hanley's garage. After a short trip, Mr. and Mrs. McCarthy will reside
for the present with the groom's mother in Center Street.

by his wife, Pauline Barber McCarthy, 2 daughters, Mrs. Carl Carol
Cimino of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Emmet Ellen Monaghan of Walnut Creek,
Ca., 5 grandchildren. Prayer
service will be held at the Kennedy and son Funeral Home, 13 Bristol St,

CANANDAIGUA
- Services were held today at the Kennedy and Son Funeral Home for
Canandaigua businessman Ralph H. Barber, who died Friday, September 23,
at Rochester General Hospital. Mr.
Barber, 70, lives on West Lake Road. Mr. Barber owned and operated H.
E. Barber and Son Plumbing and Heating Co. on Coach Street, which was founded by
his father in 1911.
"He
was a great guy who loved to play
golf and to hunt", said Raymond Read, former owner of West Side
Electric Shop in Cheshire, who said he knew Mr. Barber for 50 years. We were in the same business but we were friendly
competitors, and we played a lot of golf together.
Mr.
Barber was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and attended Syracuse
University. He was a member of the
Baptist Congregation of the United Church, the Kiwanis and Elks clubs, the
Mutual Hook and Ladder Co., Canandaigua Country Club, and Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret C. Barber, two sons, Don Gary, of Westchester, Pa., and Daniel R. Barber, of Williamsburg, Va., a step daughter, Bonita Mincer of Canandaigua, three sisters, Gertrude Brahm, and Pauline McCarthy, both of Canandaigua, and Janis Foland Rodriguez, of Las Vegas, Nev., and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
