Philenzo P. Bliss of Bristol, died as the sequence of a fall on
the ice on February 9, which broke his hip and caused a severe shock. Had he
lived until June 16 of this year he would have reached the 84th year.
He
was born in Kankake County, Ill. June 16, 1839, the son of Philenzo P. Bliss whose
ancestors came to America from the Eastern part of England. The mother of Mr.
Bliss was Caroline Andrews. James Gooding was the third male white
child born in Bristol. Mr. Bliss was a farmer and lived for a
considerable period in Ill. and Missouri.
He
married Catherine L. Totman, born in Jefferson Co., a daughter of Ward
Totman. She died October 29, 1921.
He leaves Mrs. William Andrews, Mrs. Winifred Flanders, Mrs. Alfred
Hennish, L. P. Bliss, Gooding H. Bliss, and Mrs. John Wilder of Cleveland,
Ohio. One son, Harry W. and one daughter, Edith S. Bliss died a
few years ago. He also leaves 25 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He
was a member of the Congregational church in Bristol, of which he was a deacon
for many years and was also much interested in the welfare of the community in
which he lived so long.

On
Saturday morning occurred the death of Mrs. P. P. Bliss at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Winifred Flanders after a serious illness of six
months. Mrs. Bliss was the daughter of Ward and Irene Totman, of
which family her sister, Mrs. Sophia Luther of California is the only
survivor.
She
was 82 years old and was married to Phelan P. Bliss when she was 21.
Eight children were born to them, six of whom survive. She is also survived by
her husband and 25 grandchildren. She was a member of the Congregational church
and until her heart failed was an active worker.
The
funeral was held from her old home, now occupied by her daughter and husband, Mr.
and Mrs. Alfred Hennish. C. A. Paile officiated at the services by her
request and he read many passages of scripture eloquently expressing her life.
Among the many beautiful floral tributes was one from the parish to which she
belonged.
The children who survive her are, Mrs. William Andrews, Mrs. Winifred Flanders, Mrs. Alfred Hennish, of Bristol, Mrs. John Wilder of Cleveland, Ohio, Lester Bliss of Canandaigua, and Gooding Bliss of Rushville. The sympathy of the community is with the bereaved family, especially to the husband who has lost his companion of 61 years. Burial Evergreen Cemetery, Baptist Hill. Mrs. John Wilder of Cleveland has been with her people here the past week called here by the illness of her mother, Mrs. Bliss.

VALLEY - The funeral of Mrs. Irene Bliss Andrews, wife of William
R. Andrews, was held from the home on Wednesday afternoon. Her death
occurred the previous Monday after a long illness.
She
was the eldest daughter of Philenzo and Katherine Totman Bliss, born in
Missouri 63 years ago. When a child she moved with them to this town where her
life was spent. Two children were born to them, Maurice, who lives at
home, and Malvina, wife of Irwin Hicks of Cheshire.
She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Winifred Flanders, Mrs.
Alfred Henish of this place, and Mrs. John Wilder of Cleveland, two
brothers, Gooding H. Bliss of Shortsville, and Lester Bliss of
Canandaigua town.
There were many beautiful floral tributes.
Interment made in Andrews Cemetery. Her
body was
interred 1925 Bristol, New York, Andrews Cemetery.

Winifred Catherine Bliss was born July 31, 1863. Winifred died January 29, 1933 in Jamestown, New York, at 69 years of age.

FLANDERS
Funeral services for Mrs. Winifred B. Flanders, formerly of
Canandaigua, were held from the home of her sister, Mrs. Alfred Henish in
Bristol, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Flanders died at the home of her son, Rev.
Myron E. Wilder in Jamestown, Friday.
Besides the son, Mrs. Flanders is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Nudd of Canandaigua, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Henish and Mrs. John Wilder of Cleveland, Gooding Bliss of Shortsville, and Lester Bliss of Canandaigua, and four grandchildren. She married Charles H. Wilder Bristol, New York, July 08, 1886.

WESTERN NEW YORK DEATHS - Harry W. Bliss Canandaigua Oct 23 - the death of Harry W. Bliss occurred at the Canandaigua Hospital this morning as a result of peculiar affections. He had been under treatment at the hospital for a month or more, and had been in ill health for a long time past. Mr. Bliss was 53 years of age and resided in Bristol.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs.
Clarence Pierce of Holcomb, Miss Florence Bliss of Martisco, Miss
Dorothy Bliss of Bristol, and two sons, Rolland Bliss and Leslie Bliss
both of Bristol.
He also leaves his parents Mr. and Mrs. P. P. Bliss of
Bristol, four sisters, Mrs. Irene Andrews of Bristol, Mrs. Winifred
Flanders of White Plains, Mrs. Mabel Henish of Bristol, and Mrs.
Alice Wilder of Cleveland, Ohio, and two brothers, Lester Bliss of
Canandaigua, and Gooding H. Bliss of Shortsville.
The
funeral services will be held privately from the home in Bristol with Rev. W
Searles pastor of the Bristol Congregational Church officiating. Interment
in Bristol.

BLOOMFIELD - Funeral service for Mrs. Addie Hallock Bliss, 74, who died
Friday, Oct 10, 1958, was held Sunday afternoon at the Wheeler Funeral Home in
East Bloomfield, the Rev. Hardy Lumb of Canandaigua officiating.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Baptist Hill.
A native of the town of Richmond, she was the daughter of
Frank and Margaret Hallock. For many years she and her husband, the
late Gooding H. Bliss, resided in Shortsville. They were active members
of the Shortsville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Glen Bliss of Islip, LI, two daughters, Mrs. Albert Bishop of Gowanda, and Mrs. J. Charles Bennett of East Bloomfield, a brother, George Hallock of Bristol, a sister, Mrs. Ethel Fisher of Allen's Hill, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Living in Shortsville when sister died in 1925.

Bostwick, a lifelong resident of this town,
died on Saturday, April 1, after a lingering illness. A wife and five
children, two sons and three daughters, survive him. The funeral was held from
his late residence on Tuesday.

BOSTWICK
- Herman C. Bostwick, 76, native of West Bloomfield, died Sunday
evening, May 23, 1943, in Genesee Hospital,
Rochester.
Born in the town of West Bloomfield, he was the son of William and Ann
Wheatley Bostwick.
He spent his early life on a farm in the township, later being employed for many years at the Atlantic Stamping Co in Rochester. He retired four years ago. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Pitts Short, Ellensburg, Wash., and two nieces, Mrs. Clifford Hartford of Avon, and Mrs. Leonard Appleton of Rochester. Funeral services were conducted in the W E Wheeler Funeral Home, this village, Rev. Walter C. Shaeffer, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. Burial was in East Bloomfield Cemetery.

husband. His wife Jennie is not at the residence. William died April 21, 1926 Canandaigua, New

Death of William H. Bostwick at Canandaigua, April 21, 1926, of Holcomb, aged 55 years.
The
death of William H. Bostwick occurred at Memorial Hospital last Wednesday
afternoon following an operation for appendicitis. He was born in E. Bloomfield
55 years ago and had always resided in this section.
He
had been a mason foreman for the NY Central RR for the past 16 years. He is
survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Appleton of Holcomb, with whom he
resided, and Mrs. Clifford Hartford of Avon, also by a brother and two
sisters, Herman Bostwick of Rochester, Mrs. Ralph Short and Mrs.
Pitts Short, both of Seattle Washington. Interment at East Bloomfield. His
body was interred 1926 East Bloomfield, NY,

The
funeral of Mrs. Wm. Bostwick was held from the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Leonard Appleton in the North Eastern part of the town Wednesday PM at 2
o'clock, being conducted by Rev. W. D. Robinson, and interment was made
in the village cemetery.
Mrs.
Bostwick had been an invalid for many years and her death occurred at
Willard, Sunday April 13 at the age of 42 years. Survived by her husband
and two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Appleton of this town, and Mrs. Ada
Hartman of Lima.

birth year around 1882. His grave marker has 1877. Leonard was the son of
Robert Appleton

- Leonard Appleton,
82, died in his home in Main Street yesterday, September 7, 1960, after several
weeks illness. A native of the town of East Bloomfield, he was the son of the
late Robert and Frieda Beutler Appleton, and always had resided in this
community. For many years he was a cook for the maintenance crews of the New
York Central Railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad
Maintenance Men.
He
leaves his wife, Mrs. Anna Bostwick Appleton, two daughters, Mrs.
Edward Rhode of Mantua, Ohio, and Mrs. Robert Hinds of Holcomb, a son
William of Rochester, a sister, Mrs. Emmett Finagan of
Canandaigua, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends
may call at the Wheeler Funeral Home in East Bloomfield where a service will be
conducted by the Rev. Alton Davis of the East Bloomfield Methodist
Church. Burial in East Bloomfield Cemetery.

BLOOMFIELD - On Saturday were held the funeral services of Mrs. Braman,
who died on Thursday, after an illness of about two weeks. Mrs Braman has
been a resident of this place for over twenty years, having moved here from
Victor.
She
is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lowell Smith, of Oshkosh, Wis., and Mrs.
Frank Munson, of this place, with whom she lived at the time of her death.
Mrs. Braman was 67 years old.

Mrs.
Isadore Braman Munson, 82, widow of Frank Munson, died suddenly
Sunday afternoon at the Health Home in Canandaigua where she had been ill for
the past six weeks with heart trouble.
She was born in Farmington, October 7, 1857, and upon her
marriage to Mr. Munson, came to this village where she has since resided.
For many years she was proprietress of Locust Lawn, a popular eating
place. Two years ago she sold her home to SEEL, INC., who conduct the Holloway
House, and moving several houses to the West, continued to conduct a tea room on
a smaller scale known as the GRIDDLE CAKE HOUSE.
For many years she assisted her husband in their store, the
TRADING POST, during the holiday season. A
great lover and authority on flowers, her gardens were admired by many.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church, and was a member of
the choir for many years, member of the various church organizations, a charter
member of the Fortnightly Club, and a former member of the bridge club.
For many years she taught boys classes in the Congregational Sunday school. The only surviving relatives are nieces, Mrs. Sidney M. Hull of Western Springs, Il., and Miss Louise Munson of Brooklyn, and a nephew, Dr. Warren B. Smith of Danville, Il. Interment in East Bloomfield Cemetery.

- At Canandaigua, January 28, 1940, Mrs. Isadore Braman Munson, 82,
of East Bloomfield.
Mrs. Frank Munson - Mrs. Isadore Braman Munson, 82, widow of Frank Munson of East Bloomfield, and well known in this town, died yesterday afternoon, January 28, 1940, in the Canandaigua Health Home, after a six week illness of the heart.
She
was born in Farmington, October 7, 1857, since her marriage has lived the
village of East Bloomfield. In her home for many years she conducted Locust
Lawn, a popular eating place, specializing in squab dinners, sold to Seel Inc.,
two years ago. Moving several doors west, on a smaller scale, she operated the
Griddle Cake House until her illness. Her husband, who died 12 years ago,
formerly operated the Trading Post general store, in which she assisted at
holiday time.
Mrs.
Munson was a lover of and an
authority on flowers, her gardens being admired by many. She was a member of the
First Congregational church, both she and her husband singing in the choir for
many years. She was a member of the church organizations and taught classes of
boys in the Sunday school.
Two years ago on her 80th birthday, special invitations were sent to many
of her pupils for a reunion, one returning from California, and others also from
long distances. She was a charter member of the Fortnightly Club, and a former
member of the Bridge Club.
Surviving
are two nieces and a nephew, Mrs. Sidney M. Hull, Western Springs, Ill.,
Miss Louise Munson, Brooklyn, and Dr. Warren B. Smith, of Danville,
Ill.
Funeral
services will be tomorrow from the W. E. Wheeler funeral home, East Bloomfield,
the Rev. W. Heber O'Hara of the Congregational Church there officiating.
Interment will be in the East Bloomfield Cemetery. Her
body was
interred 1940 East Bloomfield, New York, East Bloomfield Cemetery.

EAST BLOOMFIELD - The death of Frank Munson occurred suddenly at his home in this village Sunday morning. Mr. Munson was born in this village in June 1851, the son of Fredric and Olive Buell Munson, and had passed his entire life in this village with the exception of a few years spent in New York City.
He
was proprietor of F. Munson and Company's store in this village for 52 years,
being associated with in the early part with William Higinbotham, now
president of the Victor Bank.
Deceased is survived by his wife, Isadore B. Munson, one niece and two nephews, Miss Louise, Fred and Buell Munson, all of New York. Funeral services were held from his late home on Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM, Rev. Walter Bailey pastor of the Congregational church officiating. Burial was in the East Bloomfield Cemetery.

was born in Indiana July 1864. State
of birth is shown on East Bloomfield 1880 Census. Nina died September
30.
SMITH - Mrs. Lowell C. Smith, a former resident of East
Bloomfield, died September 30th, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sidney M.
Hull, in Western Springs, Ill., after a long period of failing health.
She leaves a sister, Mrs. Frank Munson of this village, the
daughter, Mrs. Hull, and one son, Dr. Warren B. Smith of Danville,
Ill., and four grandchildren.
Burial
was at Wankesha, Wisc, her former home. She
married
