BRIGGS - CALKINS
Miss
Esther Calkins, daughter of Mrs. Sophia Calkins of N. Bloomfield, and
a former resident of Victor, and Donald Briggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elnathan
G. Briggs, of East Bloomfield, were united in marriage, Tuesday, September
1st, at the home of the bride's mother. The
ceremony was performed by Rev. J. H. Herendeen, an uncle of the bride, in
the presence of 85 guests.
The
attendants were Miss Alice Calkins, sister of the bride, and Rodney
Briggs, of Rochester, brother of the groom.
The bride's wedding dress was a family heirloom, which was embroidered by
her great grandmother.
Mr. and Mrs. Briggs returned from a wedding trip to the Thousand Islands, and are residing with his parents on their farm South of East Bloomfield Village.

Paul C. Camp of Manchester, died Friday, January 6, at the
V. A. Medical Center in Canandaigua. He was 86.
Mr. Camp was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
Canandaigua, a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and attended advanced accounting
courses at the American Institute of Banking.
He
worked for Ontario County Trust for 11 years and in 1971 retired from Eastman
Kodak after 29 years. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the US
Navy. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Esther Johnson Camp, his
daughters, Suzanne Wass and her husband, Ernest, of North
Syracuse, Virginia Youtzy and her husband Gerald, of Geneseo, and
Donna Boudreau and her husband, William, of Plymouth, Mich., his
sister, Bertha Elkie of Phoenix, Nev., 10 grandchildren, and nine great
grandchildren. Memorial service at First United Methodist Church, burial in
Woodlawn Cemetery.

WEDDING BELLS
CAMP - JOHNSON
The
wedding of Miss Esther W. Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray W.
Johnson of this city, to Paul C. Camp, son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Camp, of Orleans Road, took place in the Methodist Episcopal church,
Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The ceremony was performed in the presence of a
large gathering of relatives and friends, by the Rev. S. G. Houghton,
pastor of the church. The altar was
banked with palms, asparagus fern, and hydrangaeas.
Miss
Isabelle Johnson of this city, cousin of the bride, presided at the organ
for the wedding marches. Another cousin, Miss Dorothea Douglass of
Rochester gave a piano recital before the ceremony, and accompanied Mrs.
Lewis Brahm of this city who sang "I Love You Truly" and "O
Promise Me".
The
bride who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin with
long tulle veil arranged in cap effect, and caught with orange blossoms.
Her bouquet was of bride's roses with a shower of lillies of the valley.
Miss Mildred Johnson, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, was
in pink sheer crepe with picture hat to match.
Karl Camp, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and the ushers
were Raymond Camp and Gordon Johnson, brothers of the couple.
Following
a reception at the church, a buffet luncheon was served to 30 relatives and
friends in the home of the bride's parents, 44 Perry Place. Mrs. Fred
M. Douglass, aunt of the bride, was in charge, assisted by Misses Ruth
Douglass and Evelyn Martin, all of this city.
Seasonable flowers formed the table and house decorations.
After
a week's motor trip Mr. and Mrs. Camp will live at 46 Perry Place. He is
a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and a member of the Ontario County Trust
Company staff. His bride was graduated from the Academy and from Geneseo Normal
school, class of 1932. She has
taught the past year in the Shortsville High School.
Her traveling costume was an ensemble of navy blue with white
accessories.

- Esther Camp,
age 87, of Fort Hill Apartments, died May 2, 1998 at the Clifton Springs
Hospital. Mrs. Camp
was born in Canandaigua, on October 25, 1910, and was the daughter of Mr. Ray
W. and Waity Douglass Johnson. She was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and
Geneseo Normal School. Mrs. Camp taught in Shortsville and had been a
librarian for the Rochester Public Library and the West Irondequoit School
System. She retired in 1970.
She
had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canandaigua.
The widow of Paul C. Camp, who died in 1995, she is survived by
three daughters, and sons in law. Suzanne and Ernest Wass, North
Syracuse, Virginia and Gerald Youtzy, Geneseo, and Donna and William
Boudreau, Plymouth, Mich, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two
great great grandchildren.
She
is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Gordon and Virginia
Johnson, Pittsford, her sisters in law, Eleanor Johnson, Florida, Bertha
Elkie, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

- DALTON
In
St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Eureka, California, Sunday, January 20, 1946,
took place the marriage of Miss Marion L. Dalton, daughter of Mrs.
Walter Henry Dalton and the late Mr. Dalton, to Thomas Hamilton
Kennedy, son of the City Treasurer and Mrs. Thomas D. Kennedy of this
city. The vows were heard by the Rev.
Fr. James J. Corcoran.
Given
in marriage by her uncle Harry J Quill, the bride was attended by her
sister, Miss Jean Dalton, of San Francisco, as bridesmaid.
Thomas Walsh was best man and ushers were Jack Dalton,
brother of the bride, Martin Kramer and John Cooper, all of
California.
A
wedding breakfast was served at the Eureka Inn for the bridal party and 30
guests. A reception followed from 3 to 5 PM in the home of the bride's mother.
After a brief honeymoon in Humboldt County and San Francisco, Mr. and
Mrs. Kennedy left by plane for this city where they are making their home
with his parents until their apartment at 64 Bristol Street is ready for
occupancy.
The
bridegroom who is connected with Capital Finance Corporation, served nearly four
years in the US Marine Corps, with two years of duty in the Pacific. He received
his discharge October 30 last. He is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. His
bride holds an A.B. degree from San Francisco College for Women.

Dalton Kennedy. Survived by 4 sons, Thomas D., Michael P., both of
Canandaigua, Mark R., of Tokyo, Japan, and Pete J. of Rochester, a
daughter, Kathleen A. Kennedy, a sister, Helen Kennedy, and his
mother Roby Kennedy, 1 grandson, Daniel Sterling, all of
Canandaigua.
Mr.
Kennedy was a United States Marine Veteran of WW II, serving in the 1st
Marine Division in Guadalcanal in the South Pacific. He received a Letter of
Commendation for saving his company commander's life, and Mr. Kennedy was
the recipient of the Purple Heart.
He
was the Mayor of the City of Canandaigua from 1964 to 1977. Mr. Kennedy retired
from Xerox in Dec. 1987. Calling hours Tuesday at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home at
47 N. Main Street, Canandaigua. A
Prayer service will be held Wednesday at the Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 1 AM at St. Mary's Church.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Former
Canandaigua Mayor T. Hamilton Kennedy died yesterday, July 24, at his
home. Mr. Kennedy, 67, was a
life long resident of Canandaigua and a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. A
former employee of Kordite Corp., he retired in 1987 from Xerox Corp.
Mr. Kennedy was a United States Marine Veteran of World
War II, serving with the 1st Marine Division in Guadalcanal in the South
Pacific. He received a Letter of Commendation for saving the life of his Company
Commander and he also received the Purple Heart.
He
was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion,
Post 256, the Elks Club, and the Erina Hose Company.
Surviving
are four sons, Thomas D. and Michael P. Kennedy, both of Canandaigua,
Mark R. Kennedy of Tokyo, and Pete J. Kennedy of Rochester, a
daughter, Kathleen A. Kennedy, a sister, Helen Kennedy, his
mother, Mrs. Roby Kennedy of Canandaigua, and a grandson. Mr. Kennedy
was predeceased by his wife, Marion, who died in January. Burial in
Woodlawn Cemetery.
At 37 years of age Thomas
became
the father of Michael P. Kennedy

Mrs. Lovetta Cappon Bacon, 77, widow of Orin S. Bacon,
formerly of Canandaigua, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Melvin
W. Leon, Binghamton. Born in Canandaigua, April 3, 1887,
Mrs. Bacon was the daughter of the late Abram C. and
Ella O'Brien Cappon. She attended local schools and in 1907, was married to
Mr. Bacon who died in 1954. They moved in 1925 to Florida and since her
husband's death, she had made her home in Canandaigua and for the past year in
Binghamton.
Besides
her daughter, survivors are four sons, Orin S. Bacon Jr., Charlotte, NC,
John S., Canandaigua, George D., Tampa, Fla., and Jean F. Bacon,
Belle Glade, Fla., a sister, Mrs. W. Donald Johnson of Canandaigua, 14
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The
marriage of Miss Lovetta Cappon and Orin S. Bacon Jr., was quietly
solemnized at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cappon,
Bristol Street, yesterday morning at 11. Only
the immediate families witnessed the ceremony which was performed by the groom's
uncle, Rev. A. F. Bacon of Niagara Falls.
A wedding breakfast was served, the guests being seated at one
long table. Mr. and Mrs. Bacon left at 1 PM for the wedding
journey and upon return will reside on the Bacon farm known as the Henry Metcalf
place.

Miss
Lovetta W. Cappon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cappon, and
Orin S. Bacon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orin S. Bacon, were united in
marriage at the home of the bride's parents, in Bristol Street, Thursday
morning. Only the immediate families were present at the ceremony which was
performed by the groom's uncle, Rev. A. F. Bacon, of the First
Presbyterian church, of Niagara Falls.
The
bride and groom were unattended. The bride was attired in a princess gown of
point d esprite over white silk and carried a bouquet of white lilacs. After the
ceremony a wedding breakfast was served in the dining room, the decoration of
which were carried out in white and pink. Covers were laid for twenty four.
Mr.
and Mrs. Bacon left for a trip through Ohio and Indiana and upon their
return the will reside at the Bacon farm in East Street.

DIES IN MIAMI
Orin
Stebbins Bacon, 69, a native Canandaiguan, died Saturday, July 3, 1954, at
his home in Miami, Fla., after a year's illness. Son of Orin Stebbins and
Minnie Gallup Bacon, he was born here Mar 10, 1885.
He attended the local schools, and was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy. He engaged in farming for some years on the Bacon property, now part of the VA Hospital Reservation. Active in Boy Scout work, he was county executive and director of Camp Tarion, Scout camp on the East Lake Shore, before going in 1925 to the Greer School, near Poughkeepsie, where he served about 10 years as boys director. Since that time he had made his home in Florida.
On Mar 21, 1907 Mr. Bacon married Miss Lovetta Cappon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cappon, Canandaigua. Besides his wife he leaves one daughter and four sons, Mrs. Melvin Leon, Binghamton, Orin S. Jr., and Jean, Miami, George, Poughkeepsie, and John S. Bacon, Canandaigua, three sisters, Mrs. Thompson M. Scoon, Geneva, Mrs. Carl H. Shiebler, and Mrs. Arthur R. Munson, Canandaigua, also 12 grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Sheriff Harold G. Bacon. Interment in Miami.

Charles VanGelder of Palmyra, a brother William of Canandaigua, a
sister, Mrs. Michael Falon of Canandaigua, seven grandchildren, seven
great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Schafer and Halstead
Funeral Home, services from St. Dominick's Church, and burial will be in St.
Rose Cemetery.

The bride who is a graduate of Shortsville High School was
attired in a gown of green organdie with a large picture hat of cream lace.

However in a ONTARIO COUNTY TIMES newspaper, Wednesday, August 22, 1928. The article explains the plight of a man attempting to locate ancestors in an overgrown cemetery, with hay like grass being found cut and left for drying. A complete list of 166 listed inscriptions was printed in two separate editions.

Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM Rev. J. T. Dougherty united in marriage, Miss
Cora Freda Engert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Engert, of Buffalo
Street, and William Patrick Carroll, son of Mrs. Patrick Carroll,
Charlotte Street.
The bride and groom were attended by the groom's sister, Miss Jennie Carroll, and Christopher Russell, of Boston, Mass. The bride wore a traveling costume of blue and carried a white prayer book. Her bridesmaid wore a tan suit and her flowers were pink carnations. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll left at once for their wedding journey. Upon their return they will reside on Lisk Avenue. Mr. Carroll is employed in the New York Central freight office.

CANANDAIGUA - Lena St. Angelo, 86, of Camelot Court,
died yesterday April 16, at Thompson Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. St. Angelo, formerly of West Lake Road, was a graduate of
Thompson Hospital Nursing School and worked as a private duty nurse in the
Canandaigua area for many years. She
was a member of the Thompson Hospital alumni Association and the Senior Citizens
Action Council.
Surviving are her husband, George St. Angelo, a brother George Catlin of Lakeland, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. No prior calling hours, burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
