CORSER - CROSBY

Henri Spencer² Corser was born in Rocky Creek, Australia October 21, 1874. Henri died August 04, 1949 in Los Angeles, Ca., at 74 years of age.

He married Grace Amenia Totman Manchester, New York, July 23, 1897. Grace was born Bristol, New York December 10, 1879. Grace was the daughter of Levi W. Totman and Zylphia Marinda Moore. Grace died January 02, 1957 Canandaigua, New York, at 77 years of age.

BRISTOL VALLEY - Mrs. Grace Totman Corser, 77, died at Thompson Hospital Wednesday, January 2, 1957, where she had been admitted earlier in the day. She had been ill for a long time.

Born in Bristol, December 9, 1879, the daughter of Levi and Zilphia Moore Totman, she was the granddaughter of Ward and Irene Totman, pioneers of the area.

Survivors include Mrs. William Metherell, Canandaigua Road, brother Joel W. Totman, Mercedes, Texas. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

BRISTOL CENTER - Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church in the Valley for Mrs. Grace Totman Corser, 77, who died last Wednesday after a long period of failing health. The bearers included Kenneth Morse, Charles Gelder, Francis Hatch, Floyd Hatch, Dean Long and Hollis McPherson. Mrs. Corser belonged to one of Bristol's oldest families and she was deeply interested in the background of the area and of her own family.

She was born in Bristol, December 9, 1879, a daughter of Levi and Zilpha Moore Totman. She was the granddaughter of Ward and Irene Totman, pioneers of the area. She was a member of the Bristol Valley Methodist church, Bristol Valley Grange 1080, and an honorary member of the Bristol Historical Society.

Survivors are three children, Levi S. Corser of Bristol Valley, Mrs. Gaylord Herendeen of Bristol Valley, and New York, and Mrs. William Metherell of Canandaigua RD, eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one brother, Joel W. Totman, of Mercedes, Texas, a sister, Mrs. Louis Mayer, New York City.

James Costello and Mary had the following child:

Mary² Costello was born Ireland May 1841. Mary died February 17, 1926 Canandaigua, NY, at 84 years of age.

Died February 18, 1926, Mrs. Mary Breen aged 85 years, widow of Jeremiah Breen, died at her residence on Bristol Street Thursday PM.

Mrs. Breen was born in Ireland and came to this country when 18 years old, settling in Hopewell, where she resided until 1909. In 1860 she was married to Mr. Breen who died in 1910, a year after their removal to this city.

Mrs. Breen leaves two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Frank Gillespie, Miss Mollie Breen, and Cornelius Breen all of Canandaigua, and Michael Breen of Hopewell, and Maurice of Rochester. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua, NY.

She married Jeremiah Breen Canandaigua, New York, 1862. Her death notice in Ontario County Times states 1860 as a marriage date.

Jeremiah Breen was born Ireland January 1835. Jeremiah died December 10, 1910 Canandaigua, New York, at 75 years of age.

OBITUARY BREEN

Death came as a welcome release to Jeremiah Breen, at his home on Main Street South on Saturday. He had been ill for several months. Deceased was born in Ireland 77 years ago, came to America 53 years ago, and settled in Hopewell.

He was a successful horseman and farmer and as a breeder of fine horses acquired more than a local reputation. He married Mary Costello, of this town, in 1862, who with five of their ten children survive. They are Cornelius and Morris Breen, and Miss C. Mollie Breen, of this village. Michael Breen of Rochester, and Mrs. Frank Gillespie of Hopewell. Solemn high mass was celebrated at the funeral services on Tuesday. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Peter² Coyne was born Kings County, Ireland May 16, 1847. Information taken from the Naturalizatiion records found at the Ontario County Archives in Hopewell show him to be age 65 in 1900. He was then living in Gorham, Ontario County. It also shows that he was born in 1839 in the Kings County of Ireland, and immigrated to the US on or about the 15th day of May, 1896 arriving at the port of New York. Peter died July 08, 1912 Canandaigua, New York, at 65 years of age.^[i] [i]. Canandaigua City clerk office record number 433 on Page 76, states that he worked on the railroad. The informant for the death record was Margaret Ryan.

Peter Coyne - The death of Peter Coyne who for years served as flagman at the Main Street crossing, occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Regan, Wood Street, Monday.

Two other daughters, Clara and Mary, of this village, and two sons, Peter of Detroit, and John of Canandaigua survive. The funeral will be held from St. Mary's church tomorrow morning at nine, and interment will be in Calvary cemetery.

He married Margaret McLaughlin. Margaret was born Ireland 1850. Margaret died March 13, 1908 Canandaigua, New York, at 57 years of age.

At Canandaigua, March 13, 1908, Mrs. Margaret Coyne, wife of Peter Coyne, aged 60 years.

The death of Mrs. Margaret McLaughlin Coyne, wife of Peter Coyne, occurred at the family home on Ontario Street on Friday morning. Mrs. Coyne had been ill several months with heart trouble. She was 58 years of age. Two sons, John and Peter and three daughters, Misses Margaret, Mary, and Clara, all of this village survive. The funeral was held from the St. Mary's Church on Monday morning and interment made in Calvary Cemetery.

Peter Coyne and Margaret McLaughlin had the following children:

Peter E. Coyne was born 1888. Peter died January 19, 1964 in Chillicothe, Ohio, at 75 years of age.

CANANDAIGUA DAILY MESSENGER January 25, 1964

Peter T. Coyne, 76, a native of Canandaigua, died last Thursday at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was employed at the VA Hospital until his retirement in 1956.

Besides his wife, Jessie M., he is survived by three daughters, a sister, Mrs. Mary Meyers of Rochester, and two nephews, James and John Coyne of Canandaigua. Mr. Coyne moved from Canandaigua to Dayton, Ohio 33 years ago.

John P. Sr.³ Coyne was born Elmira, New York 1871. John died May 01, 1946 Canandaigua, New York, at 74 years of age. Died at Thompson Memorial Hospital. His obituary stated that he had a sister, Mrs. Fred Meyers of Irondequoit, and a brother Peter of Chillicothe Ohio. His body was interred 1946 Canandaigua, New York, Calvary Cemetery.

He married Anna J. Ryan Clifton Springs, New York, April 20, 1908.

At Clifton Springs, April 20, 1908, John Coyne of Canandaigua, and Miss Anna Ryan, of Clifton Springs.

Anna died April 12, 1943 Canandaigua, New York, at 71 years of age.^[i] [i]. Canandaigua City clerk office record number 70 on Page 275, shows the residence at 76 Howell Street, Canandaigua, and the informant was J. P. Coyne. Her mother's first name was given as Catherine.

OBITUARY - COYNE

Mrs. Anna Ryan Coyne, wife of John P. Coyne, 76 Howell Street, died Monday night, April 12, 1943, at Thompson Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

She had been born in Clifton Springs, but lived 35 years in Canandaigua. She is survived by her husband, two sons, John J. and James P. of Canandaigua, one brother, Thomas P. Ryan of Abenal Cal., and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday morning from St. Mary's Church. Burial was made in Calvary Cemetery.

John J. Coyne was born New York 1911. He married Geraldine K. Dietz Canandaigua, New York, June 30, 1938.

MARRIED COYNE - DIETZ

Miss Geraldine K. Dietz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Dietz, North Main Street, and John J. Coyne, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Coyne, Howell Street, were married Thursday morning at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. Michael C. Wall performing the ceremony.

The altar was banked with Madonna lilies. The bride was gowned in white chiffon with a pleated bolero jacket. Her halo veil was of Chantilly lace, and she carried a bouquet of bride roses and baby breath.

She was attended by a sister, Miss Mary Jane Dietz, who wore aqua chiffon voile with a heart shaped pink hat and pink accessories and carried Talisman roses. William Coyne was best man for his brother and Leo Donohue of Canandaigua, and Paul Sherry of Geneva were ushers.

The bride's mother wore an ensemble of black and white with black accessories. The groom's mother was unable to be present because of illness.

A wedding breakfast was served to 40 at Miller's Colonial Inn, where the bride's bouquet, Madonna lilies and the bride's cake formed the table decorations. A reception to 200 guests followed at the home of the bride where seasonable flowers and lilies were used in profusion. Out of town guests were from Buffalo, Rochester, Geneva, Syracuse, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ocean Grove, NJ.

After a short trip Mr. and Mrs. Coyne will live at 141 South Main Street. The bride's going away costume was a pink and blue ensemble with pink accessorieMr. Coyne is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and his bride attended Nazereth Academy, Rochester, and St. Joseph's Academy, Coral Gables, Fla.

Geraldine K. Dietz - Geraldine was born 1915. Geraldine is the daughter of John Frederick Dietz and Sarah Jane Quinn. There is a picture on Page 1 of the Ontario County Journal, Friday, June 28, 1929. of the graduation Class from Canandaigua Academy. John is pictured here.

In a Times Journal front page article in June of 1949, the article speaks of the class of 1929 at the Academy. John Coyne resides at 15 Dailey Avenue in Canandaigua and is associated with the Parkway Drive In Theatre. He has four children including a pair of twin sons. Mrs. Coyne is the former Miss Geraldine Dietz.

James P.⁴ Coyne was born Canandaigua, New York August 24, 1910. James died January 21, 1980 Canandaigua, New York, at 69 years of age.

CANANDAIGUA DAILY MESSENGER

JAMES P. COYNE - James P. Mutt Coyne, 69, of 190 Parish Street, died in Thompson Hospital this morning. He was born in Canandaigua where he lived all his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Knights of Columbus, and Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Association.

Mr. Coyne is survived by his wife Marion Breen Coyne of Canandaigua, two sons, J. Robert and William G., both of Canandaigua, one brother, John J., Canandaigua, and seven grandchildren. Burial in Woodlawn.

Lewis W. Cronk was born Victor, New York May 24, 1819. Lewis died August 18, 1899 Victor, New York, at 80 years of age.

Louis W. Cronk, of this village, died this morning at about 5 o'clock. Mr. Cronk was 80 years of age, and had been a resident of this town since his birth. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon, in the Grove at the residence of the deceased. Rev. T. Whiffin of Oswego will conduct the services.

THE GRIM REAPER - LEWIS W. CRONK

Lewis W. Cronk was born May 24, 1819 in this town, and had lived here all his life, with the exception of 15 years. He was the youngest of three boys, there being eight children in the family, five girls and three boys. Only two of the family are now living.

Mr. Cronk was converted in the old M. E. Church in this village, February 1843 under the labors of Zina J. Buck Pastor. He was married July 4, 1843 to Angeline Benson, daughter of Johnathan Benson. He was licensed to exort in October 1843, his license being renewed from time to time until 1852 when he received a license to preach.

In 1857 he was ordained Deacon in Canandaigua acting as a suply. He was a member of the M. E. church for 29 years, then joined the Free Methodists church in 1872 and Free Methodist Conference in 1873, on probation, and in full connection in 1876. Mr. Cronk was then ordained Elder, his first appointment being Alton, Wayne Co., and after preaching there one year, was sent to Frankfort, one year, Edmonston, two years, and Bushnells Basin for two years.

At the close of his work in Bushnells Basin, he located in Victor, moving upon the farm where he resided until his death. Mr. Cronk was very decided in his way, and opinions, and was a strong prohibitionist. He was always upright and honest in his dealings with his fellowmen.

He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, two sisters, Mrs. Delevan Cline of Jackson, Michigan, and Mrs. Mary Nelson, of Rochester, NY, and one adopted daughter, Mrs. P. M. Skuse, of this place, two grandchildren, Mrs. C. A. Saunders, Despatch, NY, and Mrs. Carrie Bowers of this place, and three great grandchildren, besides nephews and nieces. The funeral will be held in the Maple Grove in front of the residence of the deceased, one half mile east of East Victor, and was largely attended. Interment in the Village Cemetery. His body was interred 1899 Victor, New York, Victor Village Cemetery.

He married Angeline Benson Victor, New York, July 04, 1843.

Nancy Jane Cronk was born March 12, 1828. Nancy died May 14, 1900 in Jackson, Michigan, at 72 years of age. She married Delevan Cline.

CLINE - At Jackson, Michigan, May 14, 1900, Mrs. Nancy Jane Cronk Cline, wife of Delevan Cline formerly of Victor, aged 72 years, 2 mos, 19 days.

Ebenezer CROSBY married Rachel Chapman Bristol, New York, 1822. Rachel was born Conn 1787. This is probably her second married name, Ebenezer Crosby was her husband and he died in 1843. Rachel was the daughter of John Chapman and Sally.

She married Henry Hampton Kingsbury . Rachel died April 06, 1867 South Bristol, New York, at 79 years of age.

Exeury¹³ Crosby was born Bristol, New York 1830. Exeury died February 08, 1908 Bristol Center, New York, at 77 years of age.

BRISTOL CENTER - On Saturday occurred the death of Exeura Crosby at the home of his son, William Crosby, after a short illness of pneumonia. The funeral was held from his son's home on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W. W. Daily officiating.

Deceased is survived by four son's, William, Benjamin, Aaron, Ebenezer Crosby, and two daughters, Mrs. Edward Dunn of Avon, and Mrs. Henry Fox of this place

He married Adelia Chapman Bristol, New York, 1860. Adelia was born Ohio 1832. Adelia was the daughter of John Chapman and Lydia Crosby . Adelia died January 14, 1905 Bristol Centre, New York, at 72 years of age.

The Ontario County Journal gave her name as CHATHAM, aged 78 years. The Ontario County Times said she was 76 years of age.

Exeury Crosby and Adelia Chapman had the following children:

Lewis N. Crosby was born June 1871. Lewis died May 05, 1875 Bristol, New York, at 3 years of age.
