DRAKE - DUKELOW

Lt. Samuel4 Drake  was born 1746.  He married Eunice Carpenter in Goshen, Orange Co., New York, June 17, 1790.  First Presbyterian Church at Goshen, New York.

                           Eunice was born 1773.  Eunice was the daughter of Richard Carpenter and Abigail.  Eunice died July 14, 1814 Canandaigua, New York, at 41 years of age.[i] [i]. Ancestry.com information.

    Eunice Drake    was born 1803.  Eunice died August 20, 1811 Canandaigua, New York, at 8 years of age.

Elizabeth5 Drake was born in Dutchess Co., New York May 15, 1792. Elizabeth died August 18, 1874 Canandaigua, New York, at 82 years of age.

                     DIED  - ANDREWS  

In this town, August 18, 1874, Betsey Andrews, consort of Harris Andrews, aged 81 years. Her body was interred 1874 Hopewell, New York, Dillon Cemetery.

                     Harris Andrews was born Mass. October 07, 1789.  Harris was the son of Samuel Andrews and Ruth Blackmer .  Harris died October 04, 1873 Canandaigua, New York, at 83 years of age.

Sarah Drake was born 1796.  Sarah died June 17, 1880 in North Cohocton, New York, at 83 years of age.

BLOODS -  Mrs. Sally Andrews, wife of Smedley Andrews, died at her home about two miles west of this village, Thursday June 17th. She had been in poor health for some months for the past few weeks very low, and therefore her death not unexpected. Her disease was dropsy of the heart. Funeral Saturday, June the 19th from the house, her late residence. Sermon by Rev. S. T. Dean from words of her own selection.

  Her remains rest in the family grounds, beside her relatives, in the cemetery at North Cohocton. She was born at Newtown, now Naples, in the year 1796, consequently at her death was 84 years old. Her maiden name was D rake .

 She married Smedley Andrews in 1816 at the age of 19, who still survives her. She was the mother of eleven children, nine of whom are still living, all of whom occupy useful and honorable positions in society. 

She joined the Methodist church when only twenty three years old, since which the long period of sixty one years has lived a devoted Christian life. She fulfilled well all the relations of life. A good woman has departed, deeply mourned not only by relatives, but a large circle of friends and acquaintance.

                                The NAPLES RECORD 

Mrs. Sarah Andrews, mother of Mrs. M. Monier of this village, died at her residence, near Blood's Depot, on Thursday, June 17th, at the advanced age of 83. Mrs. Andrews was one of the oldest residents of that vicinity, and very highly esteemed by all who knew her. 

For sixty years she had been a faithful, consistent Christian, and dying, as she did, in the full possession of her faculties, she manifested a perfect willingness, rejoicing even, to commit herself to her Savior's keeping. To her, death was a welcome guest, and she has entered upon her rest. 

All of her daughters now living, five in number, were present at her funeral, which took place on Saturday, June 19, Rev. Mr. Dean of Bloods, officiating, of whose church she was a member. Her husband still lives to mourn his loss, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Her body was interred 1880 in North Cohocton, New York, Old Clearview Cemetery.               

                                She married Smedley Andrews December 01, 1816. Smedley was born Canandaigua, New York August 09,1793.  His obituary states that he was born in 1795. Smedley was the son of Samuel Andrews and Ruth Blackmer.  Smedley died January 25, 1882 in Bloods, New York, at 88 years of age.

                           THE NAPLES RECORD  January 27, 1882

Mr. Smedley Andruss, of Cohocton, the father of Mrs. Millard of this village, died quite suddenly yesterday morning, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Solomon Woodward. The funeral is today.

Uncle Smedley Andrus, residing with his daughter, Mrs. E. Woodard, was taken dangerously ill with pneumonia on Saturday last. Dr. Woodard, who was immediately called, has been in almost constant attendance. At this writing the old gentleman is some better. Fears are entertained lest his great age, 87 years, and extreme debility preclude recovery.

                        Death of Smedley Andurs  The Bloods Correspondent of the Neopolitan says,

Smedley Andurs, one of the oldest and most noted citizens of this place, who recently departed this life at the advanced age of 87 years, was born at Canandaigua in 1795.

He was educated at the old academy of the same place, and after acquiring a preliminary education, commenced the study of law and was about to be admitted to the bar when the war of 1812 broke out Mr. Andurs being then a strong and vigorous boy and full of patriotic zeal, he was one of the first to enlist in the service. He also drove the first load of provisions from Canandaigua to Buffalo, where the army was then contesting.  He served the life of a brave soldier, many times being the last man to retreat.  After the war he came back to his father's home, and at the age of 23 years was married to Sally Drake. 

 Starting then for himself, laboring with the disadvantages of those days and disturbed by the howling of wolves and other animals. After all this, acquiring a good fortune, and being blessed with eleven children, nine of whom are left to mourn the loss of their aged father.  

Hannah C. Drake was born Canandaigua, New York July 13, 1809.  Hannah died June 14, 1897 New York City, New York, at 87 years of age.

                                Remains Brought From New York 

Phelps, June 18,   The remains of Mrs. Benjamin F. Hawks were brought here from New York yesterday for burial in Phelps cemetery. The funeral was held from the Methodist Church.

Hannah, wife of the late Benjamin F. Hawks, a former resident of Phelps, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martin Brush, of New York, last Monday. The remains were brought to Phelps yesterday for the burial in the family plot in the Phelps Cemetery.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church, the deceased being one of the oldest members of that church. Her age was 87 years. Two sons and three daughters survive her.

HAWKS, Hannah D. 156  W. 81st Street  Age 87,  died on the 14th. Her body was interred 1897 Phelps, New York. 

                           Benjamin Franklin Hawks was born Phelps, New York December 28, 1799.  Benjamin was the son of Eleazer Hawks and Anna Aylesworth.  Benjamin died April 07, 1878 Phelps, New York, at 78 years of age.

                        DIED    -   HAWKS

At his residence in Phelps, NY, early Sunday morning, April 7, 1878, suddenly of heart disease, Mr. B. F. Hawks, aged 78 years.

Jerry1 Driscoll  was born Ireland 1845.  Jerry died October 28, 1919 East Bloomfield, New York, at approximately 74 years of age.

Jeremiah Driscoll, aged 74 years, died at his home Tuesday night.  He was born in Ireland, and came to this country when eight years of age.  He had spent most of his life in this town in agricultural pursuits.  Mrs. Driscoll died last December.

He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Morgan of Fulton, and Mrs. William Lyons of East Bloomfield, also three sons, Michael of East Bloomfield, Daniel of Rochester Junction, and Private Timothy of Camp Green, Charlotte, NC.  Funeral at St. Bridget's Church Saturday.  Interment in church cemetery.

He married Catherine O'Leary.  Catherine was born Ireland 1844. Catherine died December 07, 1918 East Bloomfield, New York, at 74 years of age.

                NEWSPAPER  OBITUARY 

           DRISCOLL     December  1919

Mrs. Catherine Driscoll died at her home northwest of East Bloomfield, Friday afternoon, December 7th, aged 74 years. Mrs. Driscoll had been a resident of this town for several years, and was well and favorably known. 

Her husband, Jerry Driscoll, and five children, two daughters, and three sons, survive her. The funeral took place Monday morning, December 10th, with burial in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Rev P. A. Neville officiated.

Jerry Driscoll and Catherine O'Leary had the following children:

                           NEWSPAPER  -  OBITUARY

LYONS -  Mrs. Helen Driscoll Lyons died suddenly, Saturday, April 10, 1943, in her home in Michigan Street after several years of ill health.  

She is survived by her husband, James Lyons, and one daughter, Miss Marion Lyons of East Bloomfield, three brothers, Michael Driscoll of West Bloomfield, Timothy Driscoll of Victor, and Daniel Driscoll of Canandaigua.  Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Bridget's Church.  Rev. George W. Doud, rector, celebrated the mass. Burial was made in St. Bridget's Cemetery. 

Daniel R.2 Driscoll was born West Bloomfield, New York 1879.  Daniel died May 10, 1944 Willard, New York, at 64 years of age.

                              OBITUARY      DRISCOLL 

Daniel Driscoll, 64, Pleasant Street, died Wednesday, May 10, 1944, at Willard State Hospital, after a long illness.  He was born in East Bloomfield, a son of Jeremiah and Catherine O'Leary Driscoll, and was a retired farmer. He had been a resident of Canandaigua for ten years.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Redfern Driscoll, survivors are two sons, Private Raymond D. Driscoll, technician with the Army Medical Corps,  Lordsburg, NM, and Edson J. Driscoll of Detroit Michigan, two brothers Michael Driscoll of West Bloomfield, and Timothy Driscoll of Victor, also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday from McElwee funeral chapel, and from St. Mary's Church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.

                                          He married Elizabeth Redfern Canandaigua, New York, June 02, 1909. Elizabeth was born in Cullin, Ireland January 14, 1883.  Elizabeth was the daughter of George Redfern and Anne Hamilton.  Elizabeth died April 14, 1968 Canandaigua, New York, at 85 years of age.

Mrs. Elizabeth Driscoll, 85, of 226 Pleasant St., died Sunday. A native of Ireland, Mrs. Driscoll was born January 14, 1883, the daughter of the late George and Ann Hamilton Redfern. She was a member of St. Mary's Church. 

Survivors are two sons, Ray D. Driscoll of Canandaigua and Edson J. Driscoll of Tampa, Fla., a sister, Mrs. Sarah Southworth of Rochester, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the McElwee Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held Wednesday. Requiem Mass will follow at 9 AM in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. 

 

 James Dukelow and Susan Williamson had the following child:

Ursula2 Dukelow  was born France March 12, 1845. Her death record states that here birthplace was Ireland, which is where her parents were also born. Ursula died April 12, 1920 Canandaigua, New York, at 75 years of age.[i] [i]. Canandaigua City clerk office record number 84 on Page 226 states that she lived at 89 West Gibson Street, and the informant was Mrs. Ursula Edgett. Stated also that she was married to William Tracey

The death of Mrs. Ursula D. Tracey aged 75 years, wife of William Tracey Sr., occurred at her home on West Gibson Street early Monday morning. Death was due to pneumonia and complications. 

She leaves her husband, five daughters Mrs. G. A. Brown of Hopewell, Mrs. Ursula Edgett, Miss Katherine Tracey, and Mrs. Earl VanDenbergh of Rochester, Miss Isaphine Tracey of Canandaigua, William Tracey Jr. of Canandaigua, and James Tracey of Buffalo. Interment at Woodlawn.

William Tracey, aged 83 years who had been a resident of this city practically his entire life, died at his home on West Gibson Street Sunday morning following several years of illness. He was a member of Canandaigua KOTM.

He leaves two sons and five daughters, James D., of Buffalo, William Jr. and Miss Isaphine of this city, Mrs. G. A. Brown of Hopewell, Miss Katherine Tracey, Mrs. Ursula T. Edgett, and Mrs. Earl VanDenberg, all of Rochester. Presbyterian Church service, Interment at Woodlawn.
