FORMAN - GAUSS

James S.¹ Forman birth date unknown (1865 per headstone). James died February 19, 1932 Canandaigua, New York.

Funeral services for James S. Forman, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Fogarty, Gorham street, Friday night, were held from the Fogarty home, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Hardy Lumb of the Presbyterian church officiated and the burial was made in West Avenue cemetery.

Mr. Forman was 66 years of age. He leaves four daughters and five sons, Mrs. Fogarty, Mrs. Lillian Sage, and Barton Forman, of Canandaigua, Mrs. Harrison Sawyer, Miss Leona and Emerson Forman, of Geneva, Levin Forman, of Rochester, M. L. Forman, of Panama, and Reed Forman, of Buffalo.

Elizabeth P. Forman was born in Monmouth Co., New Jersey October 14, 1818. Elizabeth died December 03, 1889 Bristol, New York, at 71 years of age.

She married Richard Buckelew in Menolapan, New Jersey, December 26, 1838. Married by Rev. Betts. Richard Buckelew was born in Monmouth Co., New Jersey November 05, 1817. Richard was the son of Richard Manley Buckelew and Sarah Ann Johnson. Richard died February 25, 1896 Bristol, New York, at 78 years of age.

Frank George² Freer was born August 18, 1874. Frank died June 12, 1934 Newark, New York, at 59 years of age.

Suddenly in Newark Hospital Tuesday morning June 12, 1934, Frank G. Freer, age 59 years.

He leaves surviving his wife, Maude Phillips Freer, four sons, seven daughters, seven grand children, his mother, and one brother. Funeral services from the home on Palmyra Marion Road, Thursday June 14. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Williamson. His body was interred 1934 Williamson, New York, Lakeview Cemetery.

He married Maude Phillips . Maude was born February 18, 1878. Maude was the daughter of David Phillips and Martha Sarah Case . Maude died January 06, 1974 in Huron, New York, at 95 years of age.

Mrs. Maude Phillips Freer of Lake Bluff Road, town of Huron, died Sunday, January 6, 1974, at Myers Community Hospital, age 95.

She leaves six daughters, Mrs. Agatha Bills of W. Walworth, Mrs. Mable Wickens of Warsaw, Mrs. George Florence Lawrence of Palmyra, Mrs. Robert Frances McDowell of Wolcott, Miss Eva Freer of Wolcott, Mrs. Helen McDowell of N. Tonawanda, three sons, Floyd, Russell and Harley, all of Wolcott, besides her children she leaves 24 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.

Call at Farnsworth Funeral Home North Rose. Burial at Pultneyville Cemetery. Contributions to Huron Presbyterian Church or North Rose Ambulance.

Her body was interred 1974 in Pultneyville, New York, Pultneyville Cemetery.

Agatha Freer was born April 13, 1899. Agatha died June 16, 1976 in West Walworth, New York, at 77 years of age.

Survived by her daughters, Mrs. Bryant Esther Parsons, Mrs. Gerald Beth DeMoff, of West Walworth, sons, Howard of West Walworth, Donald, of Carmel, NY, sisters, Mabel Wickens of Warsaw, Florence Lawrence of Palmyra, Eva Freer Frances McDowell of Wolcott, Helen of Buffalo, brothers, Floyd, Harley, and Russell, all of Wolcott, 21 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Nulton Funeral Home, Saturday. Interment West Walworth Cemetery. Donations to West Walworth Baptist Church in her memory.

She married Glenn Charles Bills. Glenn was born May 19, 1890.Glenn died August 09, 1961 West Walworth, NY, at 71 years of age. Wednesday August 9, 1961, Glenn C. Bills of W. Walworth, NY.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Agatha F. Bills, two daughters, Mrs. Bryant Parsons, Mrs. Gerald Demoff, four sons, Howard, Marvin, Donald and Charles Bills, 15 grandchildren, one nephew. Laushey Funeral Home, Ontario, NY. Interred in W. Walworth.

A. Hamilton French and Nancy S. had the following children:

Bertha L. French was born 1857. Bertha died 1932 at 75 years of age. Her body was interred 1932 Victor, New York, Boughton Hill Cemetery

She married Charles Lewis Simonds November 26, 1879. Charles was born Victor, New York 1858. Charles was the son of Albert Simonds and Caroline Mansfield. Charles died February 25, 1927 Victor, New York, at 68 years of age.

OBITUARY - SIMONDS

Charles Lewis Simonds, son of the late Albert and Caroline Mansfield Simonds, died at his home on Maple Avenue, Friday night, February 25th. He had been in poor health for several months suffering from heart trouble, but throughout his illness had been about his home and had occasionally made a brief visit to the "Old Stone Store", with which he had been identified for 50 years.

Mr. Simonds was born in Victor, his father having been associated with the mercantile business here since about 1835. He received his education in the Victor school, the Brockport Normal School, and the Rochester Business College. For 47 years Mr. Simonds had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church and for 45 years he had been an elder in the church. He was a quiet upright, kindly citizen and stood high in the esteem of his fellowmen.

On November 26, 1879, Mr. Simonds was married to Miss Bertha French of Victor, who survives him. The other surviving relatives are three daughters, Mrs. Lucille S. Medcalf of Rochester, Olive F. Simonds and Mrs. Doris S. Bennett of Victor, two sons, Warren F. of Canandaigua, and Russell F. of Victor, seven grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Turner, who is now in Florida. Interment in Boughton Hill Cemetery.

William¹ Gallup was born New York 1817. William died March 08, 1890 Victor, New York, at 72 years of age.

ONTARIO COUNTY JOURNAL Friday March 14, 1890

William Gallup, an old resident and successful merchant of Victor, suddenly fell dead in his store Saturday afternoon of rheumatism of the heart, aged 72 years. For about forty years he had carried on business in the store where he died, and during the past few years his only son, William, had been his partner. He leaves a widow. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.

Last Saturday afternoon the town was startled by the news of the sudden death of William Gallup, who has been one of the leading merchants of this village for over 40 years. During the forenoon, Mr. Gallup was about the store and seemed to be in perfect health. About 1 PM he attempted to do some business at the desk, and instantly fell dead. The body was 1st discovered by his son, William Gallup. He was 72 years old. Burial at Park's Cemetery.

William Gallup and Caroline had the following children:

Minnie Minerva Gallup was born New York May 12, 1865. Minnie died February 01, 1945 Canandaigua, New York, at 79 years of age.

OBITUARY BACON

Mrs. Minnie Gallup Bacon, widow of Orin S. Bacon, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl H. Shiebler, North Road, Thursday morning, February 1, 1945. A native of Victor, Mrs. Bacon was married February 14, 1884, and had lived in Canandaigua since that time.

Survivors are two sons and three daughters, Under-sheriff Harold G. Bacon, this city, Orin S. Bacon 2nd, Miami, Florida, Mrs. Shiebler, Mrs. Arthur R. Munson of Canandaigua and Mrs. Thompson Scoon, Geneva Turnpike, also 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her body was interred February 04, 1945 Canandaigua, New York, Woodlawn Cemetery.

She married Orin Stebbins Jr. Bacon Victor, New York, February 14, 1884.

Orin S. Bacon Jr. and Miss Minnie Gallup were united in marriage last evening at the residence of William Gallup, Victor. There were a goodly number of friends present, and the affair passed off very pleasantly. The couple have the best wishes of a large circle of friends.

Orin was born Victor, New York April 01,1860. Orin was the son of Orin S. Bacon and Harriet Elizabeth Simonds. Orin died April 12, 1925 Canandaigua, New York, at 65 years of age.

ORIN S. BACON

Orin Stebbins Bacon, formerly a prominent businessman of Canandaigua, died at his home in East Street, this city, Sunday morning, after a long and painful illness. He was sixty five years of age, having been born at Victor, April 1, 1860.

Mr. Bacon was the oldest son of the late Orin S. and Eliza Simonds Bacon, of Victor, his father having been a former Sheriff of the County and served for a number of years as manager of the McKechnie bank here being actively interested also in local political affairs.

Orin S. Bacon Jr. was associated in business with his father and later became interested in various business enterprises and engaged extensively in farming. He acted as manager of the McKechnie brewery and as proprietor of the Canandaigua Hotel, the sale of which he affected to Mrs. Frederick F. Thompson.

The funeral service was held at the home yesterday morning with his brother Rev. Albert S. Bacon of Niagara Falls officiating. Interment at Woodlawn.

Mr. Bacon is survived by his wife, Minnie Gallup Bacon, two sons, and four daughters, Orin S. Bacon, Jr., Harold G. Bacon, Misses Jane and Charlotte Bacon, and Mrs. Carl Shiebler, all of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Thomas Scoon, of Geneva, also by a sister and brother, Mrs. Edward W. Simmons, Canandaigua, and Rev. Albert S. Bacon of Niagara Falls.

His body was interred 1925 Canandaigua, New York, Woodlawn Cemetery.

At 38 years of age Orin became the father of Lillian M. Bacon Canandaigua, New York, December 01, 1898.

BORN - BACON - At Canandaigua, December 1, 1898, to Mr. and Mrs. Orin S. Bacon, a daughter.

Benjamin¹ Gauss was born Alford, Mass. May 14, 1765. Benjamin died October 05, 1854 East Bloomfield, NY, at 89 years of age. He married Sally Codding 1793. Sally was born 1768. Sally was the daughter of Deacon George Jr. Codding and Sarah Thayer. Sally died January 21, 1847 East Bloomfield, NY, at 78 years of age.^[i] [i]. DIED - In East Bloomfield, on Thursday the 2nd January instant, Sally, wife of Benjamin Gauss, aged 78 years. Mrs. Gauss had been resident of said town for 55 years. She was truly a Mother in Israel, loved and respected by all who knew her.

Her hand was ever open to alleviate the wants of the poor, and to see the Gospel to the destitute. She died as she lived, in full faith of a glorious immortality. Thus star by star declines, Till all have passed away.

Benjamin Jr.² Gauss was born East Bloomfield, NY February 21, 1795. Benjamin died December 24, 1879 East Bloomfield, NY, at 84 years of age.

ONTARIO COUNTY TIMES January 7, 1880

GAUSS - In East Bloomfield, NY, December 24, 1879, after a few days illness, Benjamin Gauss Esq., aged 85 years. Mr. Gauss was born in the Genesee country, in the town in which he died, long before the town had been named, and when only about a dozen souls made up the whole population of the now populous and wealthy town of East Bloomfield.

His father was of Puritan descent, and one of the first settlers in the town. He came at a time which tried men's souls when a pioneer life was but daily a repetition of toils and hardships, and the crude log hut served as the birthplace of the noble son, who for eighty five years has so nobly acted his part in the great drama of life. At all times loyal to his country's calls, with a large heart and a liberal hand to assuage the necessities of the needy, and with the fraternal care and Christian zeal in the raising of his children, this good man of two centuries has passed away.

Some few years since, he, with his wife and only daughter, removed to Rockford, Illinois, spending a time in that beautiful city, making by his kindness and urbanity of manners, a host of friends, with whom he felt so grieved to part. While in Rockford his estimable wife, to whom he was so tenderly devoted, bade adieu to earth, but in his loneliness, he sought another refuge, a city not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens. A few years since he returned to his old home to die, and sleep with his fathers.

He leaves two sons and a daughter to mourn his loss, while the whole community rise up with one accord and call him blessed. Dead, but his deeds shall ever live in our hearts until we, like him, shall see face to9 face in that Sweet by and by.
