Simonds - Hill
One
of the most attractive weddings of the season took place on Wednesday evening,
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis G. Hill, on West Main Street, when
their only daughter, Miss Ruth Winifred Hill, became the bride of Russell
French Simonds, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Lewis Simonds.
The house was prettily decorated in the holiday colors of red and green.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Edwin P. Wood, of
the Universalist church, of which the bride is a member.
The guests numbered thirty, including the immediate relatives and close
friends of the bride and groom. There
were no attendants, and the wedding was informal, the bride and groom receiving
their own guests.
The
bride was prettily gowned in white charmeuse, trimmed with hand made Venetian
embroidery, and she wore a corsage bouquet of white roses and lilies of the
valley. Following the ceremony a
wedding supper was daintily served. Twelve were seated at the bride's table,
where Killarney roses were served by the Misses Marie Norton, Evelyn Mead,
Maryett Benson, and Bernice Loney.
The
bride was the recipient of some beautiful gifts of silver, cut glass and linen.
The bride and groom left on the Rochester and Eastern, amid a shower of rice,
confetti and a few old shoes for luck, for a short Western trip, and upon their
return they will reside here where both have spent their lives thus far and
where they have a large circle of friends who join in congratulations and best
wishes. The bride's going away gown was a tailored suit of navy blue with a hat
to match.
The following were the out of town guests, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cline, Miss Carrie Cline and Irving Cline, of East Rochester, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Amos, Miss Marie Norton, and Roy J. Mann of Rochester, Miss Bertha M. Donohue of Camillus, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Simonds and Miss Cora French of Canandaigua, Miss Lucile Simonds of Newark, NJ, Miss Evelyn Mead of Syracuse University and H. M. Loftus of Ontario Center.
