CHARMING WEDDING
AT SUMMER
HOME
When Miss Leora Elaine Thompson Was Married To John William
Jenkins Jr.
The
summer home of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Thompson on the east lake shore was
the scene of a charming wedding on Saturday afternoon when their daughter,
Miss Leora Elaine Thompson was married to John William Jenkins Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jenkins, of this city.
The
spacious living room was profusely decorated with the seasonable flowers, the
ceremony being performed by Rev. Herbert L. Gaylord, D. D. before an
embankment of palms and tall baskets of various colored gladioli. Miss Helen
Thompson, niece of the bride, played the wedding music and Stuart Gracey,
of Geneva, sang "At Dawning" during the ceremony.
The
bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white embroidered
canton crepe with a white transparent hat. She was attended by her sister in
law, Mrs. Alexander G. Thompson, as matron of honor, Miss Jeska
Thompson as bridesmaid, and her
niece Edith Elaine Thompson, as ring bearer, all of Canandaigua.
Mrs.
Thompson was attired in white and carried pink roses.
Dinner was served at Wenna Kenna tea room, on the east lake shore. Covers
were laid for 50 guests at a long table centered with bowls of pink roses,
maiden hair, fern and gypsophilia and lighted with tall pink tapers. Mr. and
Mrs. Jenkins are on a motor trip to the Adirondacks and Thousand Island and
after September 1 will be home at 59 Howell Street.
Mr. Jenkins is associated with his father in the firm of Jenkins Stores, Inc., clothiers and is manager of the local store. He was graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1922, and studied at Hamilton College. His bride attended the Cathedral School of St. Mary at Garden City, LI, and was graduated from the Emma Willard School at Troy in 1926.

Bristol Center - Friday Nov 22, 1901 Mrs. Luke JOPSON was found dead by the roadside on Friday morning. She had left her home a little after 10 o'clock the evening before to care for a neighbor who was ill. Heart disease is supposed to have been the cause of death. She is survived by her husband, four sons and two daughters. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon. Interment was made at Bristol.

ANDREWS - The death of Mrs. Esther D. Andrews, Aged 83 years, occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Kotteker, near Chapin on Monday.
There
survive one daughter, Mrs. Kotteker, two sons, Arthur Andrews of
Canandaigua, and Lewis Andrews of San Francisco, Cal., and four
grandchildren. The funeral services were held Wednesday and interment was in
Chapman Cemetery. Her

OBITUARY
- CHAPIN - The death of
Heman Andrews occurred at his home near this place at an early hour
yesterday morning. Mr. Andrews had reached the advanced age of 81 years
and had been in failing health for a long time. He was one of the oldest
residents of the town and was highly respected.
He
leaves his wife, two daughters, Mrs. George Kotteker, of this place, and Mrs.
Emerson VanGelder of Delaware, and two sons, Arthur and Louis. Funeral
from the Methodist church.

Sarah Caroline Ellis, widow of Albion Ellis, occurred at the Clark
Manor house on Tuesday, aged 80 years. She
leaves two sisters, Mrs. Richard Jones, of Clifton Springs, and Mrs.
Esther Adams of Chapin. Rev. Livingston L. Taylor officiated at the
funeral services yesterday morning. Interment was in West Ave Cemetery. Her
body was
interred 1915 Canandaigua, New York, West Avenue Cemetery.

Albion
Ellis, a very well known resident of this village, died at his home on
Charlotte Street, Wednesday afternoon of apoplexy after a very short illness. Mr.
Ellis had been subject to apoplexy but previous to Monday he was in fairly
good health. On Monday he was severely attacked and grew steadily worse until
the end came Wednesday.
He
was about 75 years of age, and leaves a widow and three children, Captain
Eugene A. Ellis, of the U. S. Army at Fort Yates, North Dakota, Edson C.
Ellis of North Attleboro, Conn., and Miss Carrie A. Ellis, of this
village.

DEATH of ALBION ELLIS
Albion
Ellis whose serious illness was mentioned in last week's issue of the Times,
died on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Ellis had been in usual health and
engaged in active work until the previous Monday morning when he was suddenly
stricken with apoplexy at his shop.
He
was at once taken to his home on Charlotte St. and medical aid called, but he
never rallied, and after lying two days in an unconscious state, passed away as
stated. Mr. Ellis who was nearly 65 years of age was the son of the
late William H. Ellis, and had lived all his life in Canandaigua. He was
a carpenter and builder by trade, and for many years was a leading contractor of
the village. He built a number of the principal business blocks here and many
dwelling houses. Mr.
Ellis is survived by a wife and three children, Capt. Eugene A.
Ellis, 7th US Cavalry, now stationed
at Fort Yates, Dakota, Edson C. Ellis, of North Attleboro, Mass, and Miss
Caroline A. Ellis of this village. Funeral
services conducted by Rev. Mr. Calhoun took place at the house on
Saturday afternoon. He was 64 years and 3 mos. old.

Honeoye, NY, April 3, 1886, by Rev. S. Mills Day, Mr. Elihu E. Briggs and
Mrs. Lucretia A. Tiffany, both of Bristol, NY. Married by Rev S. Mills
Day. Newspaper said they were married in Honeoye on April 3, 1886.
He was thrice married, his first wife being a daughter of Rev. Abner
Reed, of Bristol. Twelve years after her death he married Mrs. Ann Beach,
of Bristol, whose death occurred in 1883. In 1885 he was united in marriage to
Mrs. Lucretia Tiffany, of Bristol. He leaves besides his widow, five
children, four sons, and one daughter, William and Frank, of Canandaigua,
and Elnathan of Bristol, children of his first marriage, and Lewis and
Mrs. Ina Tiffany, both of Canandaigua, children of his second marriage.
There was also one daughter Helen, by the first wife, who became the wife
of Constant Simmons, of Bristol, and whose death occurred some years ago.
Mr.
Briggs followed the profession of teaching for several years before his
marriage and later his occupation was that of farming, which he followed until
last spring, leaving his farm in Bristol, where he had lived for over 40 years,
to come with Mrs. Briggs to make their home in this village with the
latter's sister, Mrs. Buckelew, who had been left alone at her husband's
death.
Mr.
Briggs had been a lifelong resident of the town of Bristol, attending the
Universalist Church there and for the past 25 years or more was an active member
of the Bristol grange, holding the office of secretary for years.
The
funeral was held yesterday morning at the house where the services consisted of
a prayer by the Rev. Mr. Boynton officiating. The burial was in Evergreen
Cemetery at Bristol, by the side of the first wife. Mr. Briggs was a patient
sufferer of a sunny, cheerful, disposition, a kind and loving husband, father
and neighbor.
Also recorded in newspaper ONTARIO COUNTY TIMES on the same day, Guardianship of Lewis B. Briggs and Ina E. Briggs under 14 years of age, of Bristol. Elihu E. Briggs, father, appointed guardian of said infants.

MARRIED Johnson
- Douglass
The
marriage of Miss Waity R. Douglass
and Ray W. Johnson, was solemnized at
the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. Douglass, Chapin
Street, yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. Ward Mosher officiating.
Seventy five relatives and friends were bidden to the wedding.
The
bride was attended by Miss Hazel Olmstead, of Allen's Hill. William R.
Potter acted as groomsman. The
ceremony was performed under a ball of smilax and white chrysanthemums suspended
from the center of an evergreen arch. The
bride wore cream silk collenne and carried white roses. Her bride's maid was gowned in blue silk mull. Her flowers
were white carnations.
The wedding dinner was served by Mrs. Fred Higinbotham, of Victor. The bride's table was laid for twelve. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are spending their honeymoon in New York City and at several points in New Jersey. On Friday evening Mrs. Samuel Douglass, of the lake shore road, gave a variety shower in honor of the bride. Twenty five young ladies were included in the party.

Esther Camp, age 87, of Fort Hill Apartments, died May 2, 1998
at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs.
Camp was born in Canandaigua, on October 25, 1910, and was the daughter of Mr.
Ray W. and Waity Douglass Johnson.
She
was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and Geneseo Normal School. Mrs. Camp
taught in Shortsville and had been a librarian for the Rochester Public Library
and the West Irondequoit School System. She retired in 1970.
She
had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canandaigua.
The widow of Paul C. Camp, who died in 1995, she is survived by
three daughters, and sons in law. Suzanne and Ernest Wass, North
Syracuse, Virginia and Gerald Youtzy, Geneseo, and Donna and William
Boudreau, Plymouth, Mich, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two
great great grandchildren.
She
is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Gordon and Virginia
Johnson, Pittsford, her sisters in law, Eleanor Johnson, Florida,
Bertha Elkie, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. Burial in Woodlawn
Cemetery. Her
body was
interred 1998 Canandaigua, New York, Woodlawn Cemetery.

WEDDING BELLS CAMP - JOHNSON
The
wedding of Miss Esther W. Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray W.
Johnson of this city, to Paul C. Camp, son of Mr. and Mrs. William
Camp, of Orleans Road, took place in the Methodist Episcopal church,
Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The ceremony was performed in the presence of a
large gathering of relatives and friends, by the Rev. S. G. Houghton,
pastor of the church. The altar was
banked with palms, asparagus fern, and hydrangaeas.
Miss
Isabelle Johnson of this city, cousin of the bride, presided at the organ
for the wedding marches. Another cousin, Miss Dorothea Douglass of
Rochester gave a piano recital before the ceremony, and accompanied Mrs.
Lewis Brahm of this city who sang I Love You Truly and O Promise
Me.
The
bride who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin with
long tulle veil arranged in cap effect, and caught with orange blossoms.
Her bouquet was of bride's roses with a shower of lilies of the valley.
Miss Mildred Johnson, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, was in pink
sheer crepe with picture hat to match. Karl
Camp, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and the ushers were Raymond Camp
and Gordon Johnson, brothers of the couple.
Mrs.
Johnson, mother of the bride, wore beige lace with hat to correspond, while
Mrs. Camp, the bridegroom's mother, was in pink and white crepe with white
hat. Following a reception at the church, a buffet luncheon was served to 30
relatives and friends in the home of the bride's parents, 44 Perry Place. Mrs.
Fred M. Douglass, aunt of the bride, was in charge, assisted by Misses
Ruth Douglass and Evelyn Martin, all of this city.
Seasonable flowers formed the table and house decorations.
After
a week's motor trip Mr. and Mrs. Camp will live at 46 Perry Place. He is
a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and a member of the Ontario County Trust
Company staff. His bride was graduated from the Academy and from Geneseo Normal
school, class of 1932. She has
taught the past year in the Shortsville High School.
Her traveling costume was an ensemble of navy blue with white
accessories.

PAUL
C. CAMP - MANCHESTER -
Paul C. Camp of Manchester, died Friday, January 6,1995 at the V.
A. Medical Center in Canandaigua. He was 86.
Mr. Camp was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
Canandaigua, a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and attended advanced accounting
courses at the American Institute of Banking.
He
worked for Ontario County Trust for 11 years and in 1971 retired from Eastman
Kodak after 29 years. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the US
Navy.
Surviving
are his wife of 61 years, Esther Johnson Camp, his daughters, Suzanne
Wass and her husband, Ernest, of North Syracuse, Virginia Youtzy
and her husband Gerald, of Geneseo, and Donna Boudreau and her
husband, William, of Plymouth, Mich., his sister, Bertha Elkie of
Phoenix, Nev., 10 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Memorial service
at First United Methodist Church, burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
