A
pretty home wedding took place at the home of Mrs. Inez Johnson, Dailey
Avenue, on Wednesday evening, when her sister, Miss Alice Llela Jones, became
the wife of Maurice Lynn Benham, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Benham,
of Hopewell Center.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Frank Jones, of
Canandaigua, who have been spending the winter at Isle of Pines, Cuba.
There were about 50 guests present at the ceremony, this number including the immediate families and a few intimate friends. Rev. Charles M. Eddy performed the ceremony, assisted by Rev. George E. Finley. The double ring ceremony was used. Palms and ferns were massed at the eastern end of the living room, where the vows were read.
The
bride wore a gown of white pussy willow taffeta, trimmed with tulle, and carried
bride roses and lilies of the valley.
She was attended by Miss Mildred Scott Zavitz, of Honeoye Falls,
who wore pink pussy willow taffeta and carried pink and white sweet peas. Miss
Charrie Johnson, niece of the bride was ring bearer, and wore a dress of
flowered marquisette.
The groom's attendant was W. Wallace Jones, brother of the bride. Miss Lucy Housel of Rochester, played the wedding music, and Mrs. Charles A. Foley sang I Love You Truly. Miss Housel was attired in a gown of robins egg blue crepe de meteor, and Mrs. Foley wore yellow taffeta.
A reception followed the ceremony, after which dinner was served. The tables were decorated so as to carry out the color scheme of pink and yellow. The relatives were seated at long tables, and 12 brothers and sisters were seated at one long table. The couple left during the evening for a short trip, after which they will reside at Seneca Falls, where the groom has recently taken a position as manager of the Endicott Johnson and Co. store. The bride's traveling suit was of gold colored velour and with it she wore a black hat.

J. Jones, the Misses Elsie and Florence Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel M.
Douglass and daughters Dorothy and Gladys, and Leon Benham, of
Rochester, Miss Alice Cassidy and Irving Jones, of Watkins, Mr. and
Mrs. J. Cleland of Gorham, F. J. Jones, Miss Helen Jones, Will Jones, Mr.

Prenuptial
events were a chafing dish shower by Miss Mildred S. Zavitz at Honeoye
Falls, and a personal shower by Mrs. Warner Ellis. Miss Maud Franklin entertained
at a St. Patrick's party for Miss Jones and Mr. Benham, and Mr. and
Mrs. Hyland Shattuck and Miss Agnes Murphy.
Miss Julia JONES married Sherman W. Kingsbury in 1868.

Sherman
W. Kingsbury Was Builder of Davidson Theater and Active in the Produce
Business.
The death of Sherman W. Kingsbury occurred at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Brockelbank, Howell St., on Saturday morning.
Although he had been suffering from heart trouble for some time, Mr.
Kingsbury had been in his usual health, and was on the streets the day
previous to his death.
Deceased
was born in Bristol on September 3, 1843, and was a son of Hampton and Linda
Totman Kingsbury. Early in life he entered into partnership with T. C.
Parkhurst in the produce business and in 1870 with his brother, Addison
Kingsbury, and George A Wells of New York City, established a
commission house, remaining as senior partner for nine years. After retiring
from that firm, he opened a grocery store at the corner of Main and Beeman St,
later purchasing and removing to the Lincoln Block nearby.
In
1883 Mr. Kingsbury built the Opera House, now known as the Davidson Opera
House, which he conducted for five years. For a number of years he was engaged
in extensive produce speculations and of recent years he promoted a number of
gas projects.
He
was married to Miss Julia F. Jones in 1868, who survives him, with one
daughter, Mrs. Brockelbank, one brother, Addison Kingsbury of New
York City, now a patient at the Health Home, and a sister, Mrs. Elihu Briggs,
of East Bloomfield. The funeral services were held at the late home on
Monday afternoon, Rev. C. M. Eddy officiating. Interment at West Ave
Cemetery.

brother and sister. There were at least 25 articles and the following are just a
couple found while perusing.

2, 1868
- Julia Jones, who has been on a visit in Chicago, returned
to her home today. The Methodist Sunday school will be glad to see her come
back.
August 11, 1868 - I have had a great great treat! Julia Jones is to be married in September and my oldest sister is also to be married next month, and they went to Rochester to buy their wedding clothes and took me along as bundle boy. Miss Jones did most of their trading at A. S. Mann's dry goods store.

MRS. PRISCILLA JONES BRIGGS DIES AT 87 YEARS, THE RESULT OF A FALL LAST APRIL
Bristol Valley, July 1 The death of Mrs. Priscilla Jones Briggs, widow of George Briggs, occurred at Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning following a long illness resulting from a fall last April when she broke her hip.
She was a daughter of Ephraim and Eliza Jones, born in this town, October 11, 1844, she being nearly 84 years of age. Mr. Briggs passed away about 11 years ago. She had always lived in this town and leaves no near relatives.
The
funeral was held from her home at Baprist Hill on Sunday afternoon, Rev.
George Campbell officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. Her
body was
interred 1928 Bristol, New York, Baptist Hill Cemetery.
She married George W. Briggs. George was born Bristol, New York 1838. George was the son of William W. Briggs and Nancy Briggs. George died 1911.
The
death of George W. Briggs occurred at his home in the town of Bristol,
early Friday morning, at the age of 73 years and 5 months.
Mr.
Briggs was born in the town of Bristol in 1838, where nearly his entire life
was spent. He was a man of fine character and had the respect and confidence of
all with whom he came in contact.
He is survived by his wife, one brother, Elnathan Briggs, of Lima, and one sister, Mrs. Curtis Hitchcock, of this place, East Bloomfield. Funeral services were held from the family home, Sunday afternoon, Rev. G. F. Babbitt officiating, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Bristol.

Ontario
County Journal, Friday, April 5, 1918 obituary stated, Mark Jopson aged
81 years, passed away at his home on Tuesday morning. He leaves his wife, two
daughters, Mrs. Earl Stanley, of Canandaigua, and Mrs. B. L. Black,
of East Rochester, three sons, Raymond of Rochester, Herbert and
George of Canandaigua, and one brother, Luke Jopson of Rochester.
Interment was in Woodlawn.
He

Despondency Led to Suicide
John
Jopson committed suicide by hanging in a shed on the farm of his father,
Mark A. Jopson at Centerfield on Friday. He had left the house during the
forenoon to work in the woods and when he did not return for dinner, his wife
became anxious about him and a search was begun.
His
body was found by his brother Herbert, hanging from a rafter in an open
shed near the barn. Life was extinct. It is thought that he had become
despondent over his failure to make satisfactory plans for the season as he had
hoped to work his father's farm.
He
was 45 years old and with his wife resided in the tenant house on his father's
farm. His father, step mother, two sisters, Mrs. Black of Centerfield,
and Mrs. Earl Stanley of Canandaigua, and three brothers, Herbert,
George and Raymond also survive. Funeral held from his home. Interment at
Woodlawn.

SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. JOPSON
The
death of Mrs. Florence M. Jopson, aged 38 years, occurred yesterday
afternoon at about half past four o'clock, from heart failure. Mrs. Jopson
had been living with her sister Mrs. A. M. Smith on Mason Street since
the death of her husband about two months ago. Previous to that time her home
had been in Centerfield.
She had grieved constantly over her bereavement and is thought to have been partly the cause of her death, although she had been a sufferer with heart trouble. She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Shaw of Reed Corners, four brothers, Dudley Shaw of Troy, Alfred of California, Hiram and Irving of Reed Corners, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Smith of this place. She had been ill for less than one day.

Clarence Jopson
was
born New York December 17, 1872. Herbert died May
22, 1929 Canandaigua, New York, at 56 years of age.
ONTARIO COUNTY TIMES Page 5, Col 5, May 29, 1929 stated the following,
The
dead body of Herbert Jopson aged 57, was found in bed at his home on
Phelps Street, Thursday, with a revolver at his side. Coroner Leon Stetson was
called and after investigation rendered a verdict of death by suicide.
It
is believed that Jopson shot himself on account of ill health. He is
survived by two brothers, George of Canandaigua, and Raymond of
Rochester, and a sister, Mrs. Earl Stanley of Canandaigua.

Mrs.
Barton Black - Mrs. Daisy
Jopson Black, aged 51 years, wife of Burton Black, died at her home
in East Rochester on Friday after a long illness.
She was the daughter of the late Mark and Hannah Appleton Jopson
of Canandaigua.
Besides
her husband she is survived by two brothers, Raymond Jopson of East
Rochester, and Herbert Jopson of Canandaigua, her stepmother Mrs. Elizabeth
Jopson, and a half sister and brother, Mrs. Earl Stanley, and George
Jopson, all of Canandaigua. Interment in Pittsford.

On Thursday evening March 15, 1894, at the residence of the bride's father, Miss Daisy Jobson of Centerfield, was married to Loren Beam, of East Bloomfield. The ceremony was witnessed by about 75 guests and was performed by Rev. Dr. Townley, of Canandaigua.
Miss Irene Appleton acted as bridesmaid, and Floyd Henry of Reed's Corners, as best man. The presents were numerous, including a handsome dinner set, silverware, lamps, and innumerable other articles, useful and ornamental. Mr. and Mrs. Beam will reside in Bloomfield.

died November 14, 1901 Bristol, New
York, at 60 years of age. Newspaper
article said she was found dead by the road, probably of heart failure, while
walking to a neighbor home, Bristol Center.
She
left her home a little after 10 o'clock the evening before to care for a
neighbor who was ill. Her heart disease is supposed to have been the cause of
death. She is survived by her husband, four sons and two daughters. She was aged
60 years, born in June of 1841 to 1844, unsure of birth year.
The following is an obit from ONTARIO COUNTY
Bristol Center. Friday Nov 22, 1901 Mrs. Luke JOPSON was found dead by the roadside on Friday morning. She had left her home a little after 10 o'clock the evening before to care for a neighbor who was ill. Heart disease is supposed to have been the cause of death. She is survived by her husband, four sons and two daughters. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon. Interment was made at Bristol.

- Mrs. Sarah Sanders,
wife of J. J. Sanders, died on Monday at her residence on Davidson Avenue
after many weeks of suffering from a cancerous trouble, aged 40 years. Mr. and Mrs. Sanders had resided here only three
months, having come here from South Bristol. The deceased leaves three children, the oldest of whom is only 12
years old. Tuesday funeral, Rev. Dr. J. Wallace Webb officiating.
Interment at Woodlawn. Her
body was
interred 1903 Canandaigua, New York, Woodlawn Cemetery.

Searles, Jacob J. Sanders, of South Bristol, to Sarah J. Jopson, of
Bristol.
Jacob was born Pompton, New Jersey June 06, 1855. Jacob was the son of Jacob Peter Sanders and Mary Ann Barnes Thornell . Jacob died January 17, 1945 Rochester, New York, at 89 years of age.

- Funeral services for Jacob J. Sanders, 89, who died, January 17,
1945, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gordon W. Leaky, in Rochester,
were conducted Friday afternoon from the Wheeler funeral home, the Rev. Paul
H. Huyett, East Bloomfield Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Interment
will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
Mr.
Sanders had lived with his daughter for three years and had been confined to
his bed for several months. Born June 6, 1855, in Pompton, NJ, he was the son of
Jacob J. and Mary Ann Thornell Sanders. When a small child he went with
his parents to Naples and lived there until he moved to East Bloomfield, 36
years ago. He was well known in this locality as a carpenter.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ray Hinds of Holcomb, Mrs. Rexford Inglis of Shortsville, and Mrs. Leaky, eight grandchildren and five greats, two sisters, Mrs. Harrison Tuttle of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Edgar Alford of Bristol Springs, and one brother, Daniel Sanders of Bristol Springs.
Jennie was born Naples, New York 1877.
Jennie was the daughter of Frank Porter
and Elizabeth Bills. Jennie
died January 30, 1906 Canandaigua, NY,
at 28 years of age.[i]

CANANDAIGUANS ARE INJURED IN
CRASH
Miss
Elizabeth L. Jopson, of this city, State orthopedic nurse, is reported as in
good condition in the Romulus hospital, following an automobile accident,
Friday, in which she was seriously injured.
She suffered multiple bruises, a long cut over one eye, and other
lacerations, concussion and shock.
Samuel
Cosentino, 26, of Geneva, driver of the car which was in collision with the
one driven by Miss Jopson, is reported as in critical condition. Cosentino's
wife suffered a fractured leg and lacerations. Mrs. George Jopson and Mrs.
Muriel Gentile of this city were cut and bruised and suffered from shock.
The Cosentino car is said to have gone out of control on a curve and to have first struck Miss Jopson's car, driven by Mrs. Gentile with Mrs. Jopson a passenger, and then rammed into the State Health Department car being driven by Miss Jopson, who was on her vacation and returning the car to Ithaca.
