Mrs. Ellen Keefe, aged 86, for many years a highly respected resident of
Victor, died Saturday, January 15th at her home on Church Street in this
village. Mrs. Keefe was born in the city of Cork Ireland June 2, 1841, and came
to this country at the age of 19, first locating in Farmington, and after her
marriage in this town.
She is survived by seven sons,
Rev. E. J. Keefe of Waverly, SD, Pierce,
Michael, William, David, Thomas, and John Keefe, all of Victor, and by a sister,
Mrs. Mary Lucy of Victor. The funeral was held Monday morning at St. Patrick's
Church. Rev. Father Keefe
visited
his mother on January 5h and 6th but because of storm conditions was unable to
attend the funeral.

The death of
Michael J. Keefe, aged 63 years, occurred at his home in
Victor on Wednesday. He leaves one son and one daughter, Emmett Keefe and

Bessie Keefe, both of Victor, six brothers, Pierce, William, David, and John
Keefe of Victor, Rev. E. J. Keefe, S. D., and Thomas Keefe of
Canandaigua. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church, Victor, on Saturday.

The Rev. E. J. Keefe Rector of
St. Thomas Church in Roscoe, S. D. passed away Saturday June 24th in that place.
Father Keefe who was born in
Victor 67 years ago, left this vicinity several years ago. He is survived by
four brothers, Pierce, William, David and John Keefe, all of Victor.
Funeral services took place in Roscoe at 10 AM Tuesday. Requiem Mass
celebrated at St. Patrick's church Tuesday morning. Burial made in South Dakota.
He was a priest in Roscoe, South Dakota.

Mrs. Julia B. Keefe, 77, Dies
Mrs. Julia Barry Keefe of Church Street, Victor, died Saturday morning,
September 8, 1951, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Barry, following a
brief illness. She was 77.
Mrs. Keefe
was born June 3, 1874, Cherry Street, Victor, the daughter of
Julia Donovan and William Barry. At an early age she married Pierce Keefe and
came to Victor Village to reside. She
was a life member of St. Patrick's church, and an active member of the Altar and
Rosary Society until recent years. She led a busy home life and enjoyed her
family, being respected by her many friends.
Her husband passed away eleven years ago and during the past eight years
she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Barry and family.
Mrs. Keefe fell in her daughter's home three years ago, fracturing her
hip from which she readily recovered and was able to be about the house. Ten
days ago she was stricken with a slight shock followed by a more severe attack
last Friday afternoon which caused her death Saturday morning.
She is survived by two
sons, Edmund of Rochester and Austin of Victor,
one daughter, Mrs. Clifford Barry of Victor, four grandchildren. Services from
St. Patrick's church. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

TWO BROTHERS DIE OF HEART ATTACKS ON SAME DAY
Two brothers, David and Pierce Keefe, died suddenly on Thursday May 9,
1940, a heart attack being the cause of each death. The death of David Keefe, 65
years old occurred at his farm home southwest of Victor Village at about five
Thursday morning.
He leaves his widow, Kathryn Mulheron
Keefe, three daughters, Mrs.
Leonard Barry, of Victor, Mrs. M. J. Rausch of Waterloo, Miss Madalyn Keefe at
home, four sons, Roy and Donald of Victor, Arthur of Fairport, and Frank Keefe
of North Carolina, two brothers, William and John Keefe of Victor, and also two
grandchildren.
Thursday afternoon
Pierce Keefe returned to his home on High Street after
having been with the family of his deceased brother. He complained of a pain in
his heart and at about six PM he too passed away.
His survivors besides the two brothers, are his widow,
Julia Barry Keefe, two sons, and a daughter, Edmund of Rochester,
Austin and Mrs. Clifford Barry of
Victor, and two grandchildren. Funeral services for both at St. Patrick's church
and burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

At St. Patrick's church, Wednesday morning at 8 took place the marriage
of M. Loretta Keefe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Keefe, and Leonard H.
Barry,
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Barry. Rev.
J. W. E. Kely performed the ceremony.
The bride wore beige georgette and lace over pink crepe with hat to match
and carried bride roses. Miss Helen
Keefe, sister of the bride, wore nile green georgette with hat to match. She
carried pink snapdragons.
The groom was attended by his brother,
Walter Barry. Fran Keefe, brother
of the bride, and Clifford Barry, cousin of the groom, acted as ushers. The
wedding marches were played by Mrs. Everett Turner. After the ceremony a wedding
breakfast was served at the home of the bride to the immediate families of the
bride and groom. Mrs. Fred Higinbotham was the caterer.
Pre nuptial events were a variety shower by
Miss Gladys Turner, a variety
shower by Mrs. J. V. Barry, and Mrs. W. Leary, a dinner by Miss Josephine Mooney
of Canandaigua and a variety shower by the girls of the Charlotte branch of the
Rochester Telephone Company.
After a short eastern trip Mr. and Mrs. Barry will reside in Victor. The
bride is manager of the office of the Postal Telegraph Cable Co., in Victor.

BELLS
St. Boniface Church, Rochester, was the scene of a pretty wedding
Saturday morning, May 22, when Miss Irene Utter of New York City, daughter of
Mrs. Nora Utter, became the bride of Pfc. Donald E.Keefe, son of Mrs. David
Keefe. Father Boppel, pastor of the
church performed the ceremony.
The
bride who was given in marriage by her brother, Harry Utter, was attired in a
suit of dusty pink with matching accessories.
She wore a corsage of bride's roses and lilies of the valley.
Arthur Keefe, of Fairport, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The
ushers were Carl Utter, brother of the bride, and Roy Keefe, brother of the
groom.
The bride's mother wore a Navy blue lace dress and a corsage of Spring
flowers. A wedding breakfast was served at the Weeks tearoom, Lake
Avenue, followed by a reception at the home of the bride's mother. The bride is
manager of a loan company office in New York City.

Kennedy, a cooper by trade, died on Saturday at his home on Phelps Street
from consumption, aged 58 years.
He
leaves three brothers, Thomas, Henry and Bernard, of this place, and one
sister, Sarah of North Hampton, NH. Funeral held from St. Mary's Church
on Monday. He is in the 1900 Canandaigua Census living alone and is single. His
occupation given on his death record was a Cooper.

CANANDAIGUA DAILY MESSENGER
Thomas
J. Kennedy, 70, of Brook Street, who had conducted a cooperage in Clark
Street for many years, died of pneumonia this morning in Memorial Hospital. Mr.
Kennedy was born in Canada, but had been a resident of Canandaigua for 50
years.

Although his birth date is shown on his death certificate, it does not
match his age given on his marriage certificate. He was supposedly 28 years of
age when he married in 1887 which would mean he was born about 1859, not 1866.
In the 1900 Canandaigua Census his age is given as 35, and shows his birth as
October 1864, in Mass. Henry
died November 19, 1922 Canandaigua, New
York, at 56 years of age.[iv]

His birthdate is given on his death certificate registered number 138 at the
Canandaigua City Clerk office. [iv].

The funeral services of Henry J. Kennedy, aged 56 years, of Clark
Street, whose death occurred at the Memorial hospital on Sunday, after a
lingering illness, were held at St. Mary's church on Wednesday morning with
interment at Calvary Cemetery.

leaves his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Edward Birr, of Rochester, four sons,
Harry, Thomas, Arlington and John Kennedy, of Canandaigua, also a brother
and sister, Thomas of Canandaigua, and Miss Sarah Kennedy of

Holy Name Society, a World War I veteran, a member of the American Legion and
the 40 and 8, past County Commander and past Commander of Post 256 of
Canandaigua.
He
is survived by his wife, Roby N, two sons, T. Hamilton and Robert,
of Canandaigua, one daughter, Helen R. Kennedy of West Chester, Pa., one
brother, Jack, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Burr, both of
Shortsville, four grandchildren, one nephew. Friends may call at the John C.

Thomas
D. Kennedy, 65, who has been a Canandaigua City Treasurer for 27 years, died
Tuesday night, August 4, 1959, in Highland Hospital, Rochester, following a
brief illness.
He
was born in Canandaigua and attended St. Mary's School. He studied at LaSalle
Business Institute of accounting and after preliminary training at Buffalo
Technical High School and Camp Hancock, Ga., served overseas in the US Air Force
in World War I.
The
following statement in tribute to Thomas Kennedy's long career of public
service was issued this morning by Mayor Richard M. Bottorf, August 5,
1959, The City of Canandaigua notes
with regret the passing of Thomas D. Kennedy.
He devoted the greater part of his life to public service and for the
past 28 years has been our City Treasurer, in which capacity he has acted most
ably and efficiently. His passing is a deep loss to the City.
I know that I speak for all the people of our community in extending
sincerest sympathy to his family. Respectfully,
Richard M. Bottorf, Mayor.
On
his return from service, he was appointed internal revenue collector for this
district, a post he held for 10 years. He was very active in the American
Legion, having been a past commander of the Canandaigua Post 556, and a past
commander of the Ontario County Legion Post. In March of this year, he was
presented a 40 year membership award by the Canandaigua Post. He was also a
member of the 40 and 8. He was elected city treasurer in the fall of 1931 and
took office the following year.
In
1935, he was appointed relief commissioner for the assembly district of Ontario
County in connection with the work of Veterans Relief Bureau of the State
Division of Military and Naval Affairs. In the early thirties he was chairman of
the Canandaigua Citizens Legion committee which successfully conducted the
campaign to have the Veterans Hospital located in Canandaigua. He was a very
active in the Republican Party having served as member and former chairman of
the Republican City Committee. He
was re-nominated Monday night by the committee as candidate for city treasurer
for another term.
He
is survived by his wife, the former Roby P. Newton, two sons, T.
Hamilton Kennedy, and Robert P. Kennedy, both of Canandaigua, a daughter, Helen
R. Kennedy, West Chester, Pa., four grandchildren, a brother, Jack
Kennedy, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Burr, both of Shortsville. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. His
body was interred 1959 Canandaigua, New
York, Calvary Cemetery.
He married twice. He

marriage of Thomas Daniel Kennedy,
Clark Street, and Miss Frances
Lillian Hamilton, Center Street, took place at St. Mary's church on Monday.
Rev. James T. Dougherty performed the ceremony. The bride wore a blue suit
with taupe hat. Her corsage bouquet was of bride's roses.
She
was attended by Miss Elizabeth Kennedy of Canandaigua, sister of the
groom, who wore a blue suit with a black hat. Her bouquet was pink roses. The
groom was attended by William Hanley. Ushers were Raymond and John
Kennedy, cousins of the groom. The wedding music was played by Miss Ruth
Pierce and Mrs. Fred S. Haubner sang.
A
wedding breakfast was served at the home of Mrs. Helen McCarthy, Center
Street, with whom the bride resided. Covers were laid for 25. They will reside at Atwater Place.
Married

Bride was attended by Elizabeth L. Kennedy, a sister of the groom. The
groom was attended by William J. Hanley.
Frances
Hamilton was born Brooklyn, New
York October 28, 1896. Frances
was the daughter of Edward Patrick Hamilton
and Mary F. Morrissey. Frances
died January 14, 1932 Canandaigua, New
York, at 35 years of age.[vii]

Ontario County Times Journal Jan 20, 1932 stated she died at her home on West
Gibson Street. Canandaigua City clerk office record number 14 on Page 216 shows
an address of 124 W. Gibson St., and that burial would be at Calvary.

- The funeral services of Lillian F. Kennedy, whose death occurred
at her home on West Gibson Street on Thursday following a long illness, were
held at St. Mary's Church on Saturday. Solemn High Mass was celebrated by
Rev. Michael C. Wall, Rector of the church, and Rev. William
Devereaux, Assistant Rector as sub deacon. Members of the Amer. Legion
Auxilliary, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the Mother's Club of St Mary's
Church attended in body. Other delegations included members of the Legion Post,
Ontario County Comm. of Internal Revenue Department.
Mrs.
Kennedy had many friends in the community who deeply regret her passing. She
leaves besides her husband, one daughter Helen R., and two sons, T.
Hamilton and Robert P. Kennedy, and her mother, Mrs. Mae Hamilton who
is employed at Willard State Hospital. Bearers were, R. Milton Hanley, John
T. Murphy, Thomas L. Smith, Alexander Grieve, Leo H. and Edward M. Breen.
Interment at Calvary.
He

in Petersberg, Virginia, June 30, 1938.

Thomas
D. Kennedy of Canandaigua, the City Treasurer, and Miss Roby Newton of
Petersberg, Virginia, were married in that city Thursday morning. Attendants
were Miss Jean Newton, sister of the bride, and James P. Donovan of
this city. After a short wedding trip they will reside at 124 West Gibson
Street.

OBITUARY - Roby N. Kennedy
Canandaigua
resident Roby N. Kennedy of West Gibson St. died yesterday, December 9,
at her home. She was 87. Mrs.
Kennedy, the widow of the late Thomas Kennedy, was a graduate of the
University of Richmond in Virginia and Farmville Teachers College. At one time
she taught school in the Richmond, Va. school district and was also a former
case worker for the Ontario County Dept of Social Services.
Surviving
are her daughter, Helen Kennedy, a brother and three sisters in Virginia,
four grandsons, Thomas, Mark, Michael and Pete Kennedy, and a Great
grandson, Daniel Sterling. She was predeceased by her sons and daughter
in law, Judge Robert Kennedy and T. Hamilton and Marian Kennedy.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 PM at John C. Johnson Funeral Home, 47 N. Main Street, where services will be held tomorrow. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
