BORN - KENNEDY - At Canandaigua, Dec 26, 1901 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry James Kennedy, a son. John died October 19, 1964 Shortsville, New York, at 62 years of age.

He married Emma V. DeGroote Canandaigua, New York, February 19, 1927.^[i] [i]. Copies of the Affidavit for License to Marry number 46, and the Marriage License can be found on PG 2P and PG 2Q in the book, A Tree Trunk.

Married by Joseph E. Guilfoil, Priest, in the presence of Melvin Deuel and Helen L. Conklin. Registered number 46, and at the Archives in Hopewell it is number 223 on the microfilm. Emma was born Manchester, New York 1905. Emma was the daughter of Jacob DeGroote and Florence Lyke . Emma died January 01, 1989 Shortsville, New York, at 83 years of age.

SHORTSVILLE - Emma V. Kennedy, 83, West Main Street, died Sunday, Jan 1. Mrs. Kennedy was born in Manchester and for many years was a beautician in Shortsville. She retired in 1970.

The widow of John F. Kennedy, she is survived by a son and daughter in law, John H. and Dorothy Kennedy of Shortsville, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial will be said Thursday at St. Dominic Church, Shortsville. Burial in St. Rose Cemetery.

Shortsville, Age 73, on July 5, 2001. Retired Xerox employee. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy, one son, Thomas, Rita, one daughter, and son in law, Linda, Gary Seifert, three grandchildren, Laurie, Timothy and Jason Seifert. He married Dorothy 1948.

Thomas Hamilton⁴ Kennedy was born Canandaigua, New York September 25, 1920. Thomas died July 24, 1988 Canandaigua, New York, at 67 years of age.

Canandaigua - Died July 24, 1988, age 67, predeceased by his wife Marion Dalton Kennedy. Survived by 4 sons, Thomas D., Michael P., both of Canandaigua, Mark R., of Tokyo, Japan, and Pete J. of Rochester, a daughter, Kathleen A. Kennedy, a sister, Helen Kennedy, and his mother Roby Kennedy, 1 grandson, Daniel Sterling, all of Canandaigua.

Mr. Kennedy was a United States Marine Veteran of WW II, serving in the 1st Marine Division in Guadalcanal in the South Pacific. He received a Letter of Commendation for saving his company commander's life, and Mr. Kennedy was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the Mayor of the City of Canandaigua from 1964 to 1977. Mr. Kennedy retired from Xerox in Dec. 1987.

Calling hours Tuesday at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home at 47 N. Main Street, Canandaigua. A Prayer service will be held Wednesday at the Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 AM at St. Mary's Church. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Former Canandaigua Mayor T. Hamilton Kennedy died yesterday, July 24, at his home. Mr. Kennedy, 67, was a life long resident of Canandaigua and a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. A former employee of Kordite Corp., he retired in 1987 from Xerox Corp.

Mr. Kennedy was a United States Marine Veteran of World War II, serving with the 1st Marine Division in Guadalcanal in the South Pacific. He received a Letter of Commendation for saving the life of his Company Commander and he also received the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Post 256, the Elks Club, and the Erina Hose Company.

Surviving are four sons, Thomas D. and Michael P. Kennedy, both of Canandaigua, Mark R. Kennedy of Tokyo, and Pete J. Kennedy of Rochester, a daughter, Kathleen A. Kennedy, a sister, Helen Kennedy, his mother, Mrs. Roby Kennedy of Canandaigua, and a grandson. Mr. Kennedy was predeceased by his wife, Marion, who died in January. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

He married Marion L. Dalton in Eureka, California, January 20, 1946.

WEDDING BELLS KENNEDY - DALTON

In St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Eureka, California, Sunday, January 20, 1946, took place the marriage of Miss Marion L. Dalton, daughter of Mrs. Walter Henry Dalton and the late Mr. Dalton, to Thomas Hamilton Kennedy, son of the City Treasurer and Mrs. Thomas D. Kennedy of this city. The vows were heard by the Rev. Fr. James J. Corcoran.

Given in marriage by her uncle Harry J Quill, the bride was attended by her sister, Miss Jean Dalton, of San Francisco, as bridesmaid. Thomas Walsh was best man and ushers were Jack Dalton, brother of the bride, Martin Kramer and John Cooper, all of California.

A wedding breakfast was served at the Eureka Inn for the bridal party and 30 guests. A reception followed from 3 to 5 PM in the home of the bride's mother. After a brief honeymoon in Humboldt County and San Francisco, Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy left by plane for this city where they are making their home with his parents until their apartment at 64 Bristol Street is ready for occupancy.

The bridegroom who is connected with Capital Finance Corporation, served nearly four years in the US Marine Corps, with two years of duty in the Pacific. He received his discharge October 30 last. He is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. His bride holds an A.B. degree from San Francisco College for Women.

Marion was born September 25, 1923. Marion was the daughter of Walter Henry Dalton and Mrs. Dalton. Marion died January 28, 1988 Canandaigua, New York, at 64 years of age.

Excerpted from a story Kennedy Sons and Daughter at home for reunion.

For the first time in three years the three children of City Treasurer and Mrs. Thomas D. Kennedy are having a reunion at their home on West Gibson Street. Cpl. T. Hamilton Kennedy, US Marine Corps, arrived at home Friday morning during the first severe snow storm of the season.

He has served two years in the South Pacific with the First Marine Division, and was wounded several months ago in the Palau Islands. Fully recovered from his wounds, Cpl. Kennedy will, at the expiration of his 30 day furlough, go to Grove City College, Grove City, Pa., where he has been assigned as instructor.

2nd Lt. Robert P. Kennedy USAAF, first pilot on a bomber, is spending a delay en route to Lincoln, Nebraska, with his parents. Lt. Kennedy has been stationed at Hendricks field, Sebring Florida, and is to report, Tuesday at Lincoln, where he will be assigned a new crew. Also at the family home is Miss Helen L. Kennedy, X-ray technician at West Chester Homeopathic Hospital, West Chester, Pa.

" HAM" KENNEDY SAVES LIFE OF CAPTAIN ON SOUTH PACIFIC ISLAND

Pfc. Thomas Hamilton Kennedy, USMC, is accredited with saving the life of his captain, Alfred H. Hughes, Hampton, Va. according to the Associated Press dispatch here this week. The story, under a Cape Gloucester dateline was written by a Marine Corps combat correspondent, and tells the following tale about Ham Kennedy, son of Canandaigua City Treasurer Thomas D. Kennedy. Captain Alfred H. Hughes of Hampton Va., a member of a Marine infantry company, is alive because he once told his runner, Pfc. Thomas H. Kennedy, to stick with him if the outfit ever went into action.

Kennedy, a 23 year old ex clerk who lives at 124 West Gibson street, Canandaigua, NY, never forgot the admonition and his faithfulness to duty saved his captain's life. The Japs had broken through a gap between Hughes company and another outfit further down the line. Hughes left his command post when word of the breakthrough reached him and went toward the area to appraise the situation.

Unknown to him, the runner Kennedy tagged along behind. The captain walked through the jungle until he came to a clearing. Then he stopped, for there, 30 or 40 feet away he saw a group of men lying on the ground. At first Hughes thought they were Marines. Then one of them looked up. They were Japs. Hughes raised his carbine and pulled the trigger, but only a dull click sounded. The piece had missed fire.

Two Japs jumped to their feet yelling and ran toward the officer. At that moment the booming roar of an M1 rifle broke the air and the leading Jap pitched on his face, a black hole punched between his eyes. Kennedy trailing quietly behind his captain, had seen the tableau. When the Japs started running toward the captain, Kennedy opened fire. The Japs halted confused and before they snapped out of it, the captain and his runner had made their escape.

Thomas Hamilton Kennedy, familiarly known as "Ham", is the son of a veteran of World War I. Mr. Kennedy served overseas as a member of a ground crew in the United States Air Force. His mother was the late Mrs.Lillian Hamilton Kennedy. All that his father knows of his activities since going overseas is that he landed at Guadalcanal in the fall of 1942. He has never in letters written home even hinted at the action described by the press correspondent.

T. H. KENNEDY GETS KORDITE PROMOTION

The appointment of T. Hamilton Kennedy, 311 Gibson Street, Canandaigua, as traffic manager for the Kordite Co. division of Textron, Inc., was announced this week by Charles R. Eastman, personnel manager. Mr. Kennedy came to Kordite in late 1955 as employment manager.

Before that he was assistant to the president of Boyce Motor Lines in Canandaigua. In his new capacity he will have charge of routing all the freight for the company, all freight claims and figuring out the most economical method of moving freight. Mr. Kennedy is married and has four children, Kathleen, 10, Tom, 8, Mark, 6, and Michael, 1.

" Ham" was the Mayor of Canandaigua from 1964 to 1978.

Michael P. Kennedy was born Canandaigua, New York December 31, 1957.

Cora Kesel was born Honeoye Falls, New York April 27, 1878. Cora died July 08, 1964 Dansville, New York, at 86 years of age.

Frank J.² Kesel was born Honeoye Falls, New York February 15, 1871. Frank died December 28, 1949 in Penfield, New York, at 78 years of age.

Survived by his daughters, Mrs. Esther Putnam of Victor, NY, Mrs. Charles Henehan of Penfield, a son Lewis of Victor, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, eight sisters, two brothers. Smith Lotze Funeral Home, Webster, NY. Burial in Victor. His body was interred 1949 Victor, New York.

He married Cora Merritt . Cora was born Honeoye Falls, New York March 03, 1876. Cora was the daughter of Mr. Merritt and Mrs. Merritt . Cora died April 22, 1935 Victor, New York, at 59 years of age.

KESEL - Mrs. Cora Kesel, wife of Frank Kesel, passed away at her home on Boughton Hill Wednesday night, April 22, 1936. She had been in poor health for several years and had been confined to her bed for about a year. She was 59 years old.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Kesel is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Esther Putnam, Victor, Mrs. Pauline Henehan, Rush, Lewis and Robert Kesel of Victor, two sisters and three brothers. Services held Saturday morning at Catholic church, Honeoye Falls. Burial made there.

Albert² Kesel was born Honeoye Falls, New York January 31, 1883. Albert died October 04, 1966 Rochester, New York, at 83 years of age. His body was interred 1966 in Rush, New York, Pine Hill Cemetery. He married twice. He married Ida Heach. Ida was born November 30, 1849.

He married Bertha Christian Rochester, New York, March 19, 1902. Bertha was born Germany April 06, 1883. Bertha was the daughter of Fred Christian. Bertha died July 13, 1945 Honeoye Falls, New York, at 62 years of age.

WOMAN, 62, DIES FOLLOWING FALL

Honeoye Falls - Mrs. Bert Kesel, 62, of the Lima Road, Honeoye Falls, died in the Madsen Hospital yesterday, July 13, 1945. On June 29 she fell down a flight of stairs leading to the cellar of her home, fracturing a leg. She was taken to the hospital where she remained until her death. She was born in Germany and came with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Christian, to Ionia in 1884 when she was a year and a half old.

Besides her husband she leaves four daughters and three sons. Mrs. Ruth Menz, of Lima, Miss Anna Kesel of Rochester, and Mrs. Joseph Senkpiel of Rush, and Dorothy, Fred, and Raymond Kesel of Honeoye Falls, and Willard of Rochester, and an uncle, Joseph Christian of Canandaigua, 14 grandchildren. She was a member of Honeoye Falls Grange and of St. John's Episcopal Church, Honeoye Falls.

Lewis John³ Kesel was born Mendon, New York October 03, 1898. Lewis died June 1987 Farmington, New York, at 88 years of age.

He married Ruby Virginia VanDenbergh Holly, New York, July 24, 1920.

He married Ellen Comfort . Ellen became the mother of Roben Kesel Victor, New York, June 30, 1948. Ellen became the mother of Kay Kesel Victor, New York, May 13, 1952.

Robert Kesel Eludes Big, Bad Mosquitoes

In a letter to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kesel, T-5 Robert L. Kesel, who recently landed in New Guinea, stated that he had not, at the time of writing been bitten by a mosquito. As the insects are particularly large, numerous and vicious in that area, he is to be congratulated on his record.

Letters written to T 5 Robert L. Kesel by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kesel, have been returned to them accompanied by the information that "Bob" is about to return to his homeland. He has been hospitalized for about two months because of foot trouble, while in the Pacific area.
