LARNER - LEON

Edgar Walter1 Larner  was born New York September 26, 1864.  Edgar died February 06, 1947 Hopewell, New York, at 82 years of age. 

            He married Emily Wheatley in Palmyra, New York, March 19, 1892. Emily was born 1875.  Emily was the daughter of William Wheatley and Sarah Emily Maybee.  Emily died December 28, 1936 Clifton Springs, New York, at 61 years of age.

       Jeanette Aulls   -   Jeanette was born in Lancaster, Penn. November 18, 1775.  Jeanette was the daughter of William Aulls and Elizabeth Daniels .  Jeanette died April 09, 1853 in Wheeler, New York, at 77 years of age.

Died in Wheeler on April 9th, Mrs. Jenette, consort of Mr. Alburtus Larrowe, mother of Judge Larrowe, 78 years of age. She was born in Lancaster Penn., in 1776, daughter of Mr. Aulls, who was one of the first settlers of this town. The family removed to this county in 1793.  She was married about 22 years of age, and had 12 children, 11 of whom survive her.

 Her body was interred 1853 in Wheeler, New York, Wheeler Cemetery.  Aged 76 years and 6 months. 

Alburtus Larrowe & Jeanette Aulls:

Jeanette Aulls was born in Lancaster, Penn. November 18, 1775.  Jeanette died April 09, 1853 in Wheeler, New York, at 77 years of age.

 Died in Wheeler on April 9th, Mrs. Jenette, consort of Mr. Alburtus Larrowe, mother of Judge Larrowe, 78 years of age.

 She was born in Lancaster Penn., in 1776, daughter of Mr. Aulls, who was one of the first settlers of this town. The family removed to this county in 1793.  She was married about 22 years of age, and had 12 children, 11 of whom survive her.                

Died at Wheeler on the 12th ult, Albertus Larrowe in the 82nd year of his age. He was born in New Jersey in 1776, in 1797 he moved to Steuben and was employed by Col. Williamson as a carpenter. 

He married the daughter of late William Aulls, one of the earliest settlers of Urbana. Albertus located in Reading in 1800, then in Wheeler in 1807. His son is Hon. Jacob Larrowe, late a County Judge. 

Charles2 Leiston was born Germany February 09, 1831.  Charles died September 12, 1920 in Perinton, New York, at 89 years of age.

Entered into rest at East Penfield, Sunday September 12, 1920, Charles Leiston, aged 85 years. He leaves his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Louis Forman, of Pittsford, Mrs. John Wahl, East Penfield, Mrs. Frank Kiel of Fairport, a sister, Mrs. Sophia Sigel of Rochester, a brother, August Leiston of Roseland, 19 grandchildren, 24 Great grandchildren.

Funeral Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Wahl of East Penfield, and at Smith Cemetery. His body was interred 1920 in Penfield, New York, Smith Cemetery.

             He married Fredricka Paull Germany, 1853. Fredricka was born Germany August 07, 1834.  Fredricka died March 01, 1926 in Perinton, New York, at 91 years of age.

Fairport, March 1,  Mrs. Frederica Leiston, 91 years old died today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Wahl, of this village. She was a charter member of the Roselawn Lutheran Church of Penfield.

She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Louis Forman, of Pittsford, Mrs. John Wahl, and Mrs. Frank Kehl, both of this village, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place from the Wahl home Wednesday. Interment will be made in Smith Cemetery, Penfield. 

  Louise Leiston  was born New York January 05, 1862.  Louise died November 15, 1916 Canandaigua, New York, at 54 years of age.[i]   [i]. Canandaigua City clerk office death record number 155 on Page 78. Informant was listed as Gurney Engert, of Canandaigua.

 ENGERT -  The death of Mrs. John Engert, aged 54 years, occurred at her home on Buffalo Street on Wednesday morning. Death was due to apoplexy.

She leaves her husband, one son and five daughters, Gurney, Lena, and Mayme Engert, Mrs. John Flood, Mrs. William Carroll, all of Canandaigua, Mrs. Harry Sprentell of Wayland, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leiston of Penfield, also three sisters, Mrs. L. C. Foreman of Pittsford, Mrs. John Wall and Mrs. Frank Keil of Penfield. Rev. Herbert L. Gaylord will officiate this PM. Interment in Woodlawn. 

 John died October 14, 1941 Canandaigua, New York, at 85 years of age.[ii]  [ii]. Canandaigua City Clerk office death record number 145 on Page 112. The informant on the record was W. Thomas Sprentall at 175 Buffalo Street. His wife's name is given as Louise Leiston, and he was to be buried at Woodlawn.

 OBITUARY -   ENGERT -  John G. Engert, 85, of 175 Buffalo Street, died Tuesday morning in a Canandaigua, NY Health Home after a lingering illness. Born in Rochester he had been a resident of Canandaigua for 60 years. For many years he was foreman of the hop yards.

 Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. John M. Flood, Miss Lena I., Mrs. Edward T. Hanley, Canandaigua, and Mrs. Louise Ebert, Buffalo, sister, Mrs. Frank Clevenger, Ont., and a brother Charles of Victor. 

August2 Leiston  was born Germany July 1838.  August died November 12, 1922 in Penfield, New York, at 84 years of age.  His body was interred 1922 in Penfield, New York, Smith Cemetery.  Lot number 99,

                  He married Louisa Steachen 1869. Louisa was born Germany December 1848.  Louisa  died April 27, 1917 Rochester, New York, at 68 years of age.

 DIED -   LEISTEN -    At the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. Peylon, No. 44 Bly Street, this city, Friday morning, April 27, 1917, Louise Leisten, aged 68 years.

She is survived by her husband August Leisten, three daughters, Mrs. Henry Oestrich of Penfield, Mrs. George Kuhls of Henrietta, NY, and Mrs. J. Peglow, of this city, four sons, Charles of Pittsford, NY, Louis and Henry of Penfield, NY, and Fred, of this city, two sisters, Mrs. Carl Schlottman, of this city, Mrs. Sophia  Choust, of this city, two brothers, William and Fred Steachen, of Rochester, NY, thirty four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  Funeral from her late home, Penfield, NY, Monday afternoon, and from the Lutheran Church at Roseland, NY. Interment in Smith Cemetery.

           Her body was interred 1917 in Penfield, New York, Smith Cemetery.  Lot number 99. 

William J.3 Leiston  was born New York August 18, 1858.  William died May 27, 1909 Rochester, New York, at 50 years of age.

At his home at No. 48 Niagara street, Thursday, May 27, 1909, William J. Leiston, aged 50 years, 9 months, 9 days. He leaves his wife, Wilhelmina Leiston, four children, Emil H., Richard M. , Frederick C. , and Elka M., all of this city.

Funeral from the late residence Sunday. Interment at Smith Cemetery, Penfield, NY. His body was interred 1909 in Penfield, New York, Smith Cemetery.

               He married Whilmenia D. 1879. Whilmenia was born Germany June 25, 1857.  Whilmenia died June 25, 1938 Rochester, New York, at 81 years of age.

 In this city Saturday, June 25, 1938, Whilamenia D. Leiston, age 81 years. She leaves two sons, Emil H. and Richard M. , one daughter, Mrs. Earl Knight, all of this city, also six grandchildren. 

Funeral from the home of her son, Richard Leiston, 123 Edgeland St., Tuesday, June 28. Interment in Smith's Cemetery, Penfield.

 Melvin Waters2 Leon was born Little Falls, New York February 10, 1902.  He married Lovetta Cappon Bacon Geneva, New York, August 22, 1934.

                                 WEDDING  BELLS          LEON -  BACON

At St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Geneva, Wednesday, took place the marriage of Miss Lovetta Cappon Bacon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orin S. Bacon, of Verbank, formerly of Canandaigua, and Dr. Melville W. Leon, of Binghamton.  Ceremony was performed by Rev. H. H. Hassinger, rector of the church. 

 Mrs. Launt Lindsay of Geneva, sister of the groom played wedding music. Following the ceremony, luncheon was served at LaFayette Inn, Geneva, after which Dr. and Mrs. Leon left for a motor trip to the Adirondacks and Canada. 

They will live at 4 James Street Binghamton.  He studied at Amherst College and was graduated from Rochester School of Optometry. His bride who has been spending time here with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cappon, Bristol St., studied in Canandaigua Academy and completed an art course in Mechanics Institute.
