DEATH of RESPECTED MONEYHAW RESIDENT
A shadow of deep
gloom, was cast over a wide area at the news of the death of Mary I Moran,
which took place at her residence, at Moneyhaw, Moneymore on Monday, December
29th.
Deceased was a
kind and highly respected lady. This was evident by the large number of people
who visited her during her illness.
Every possible attention was given by Very Rev. F. Terry
Adm., Doctors Fannigan and her devoted family. One daughter traveled
specially from New York to be with her mother at the end. Deceased was bereaved
some years ago by the death of a son and daughter, both of whom were involved in
a car accident in America. The shock of this great loss seemed to linger with
her forever.
A devoted
Catholic she belonged to a family that had given a number of its members to the
church. The funeral which was largely attended, took place to St. Maichacy's
Church, Drummullen, on Wednesday December 31st, where a Requiem Mass was
celebrated by Rev. Father Terry.
The remains were subsequently interred in the family burying plot attached to the church. The chief mourners were Patrick Graham, USA, John Hugh and Frank Moran, sons, Anne G. Aufiero, Elizabeth G. Dobbin,, USA, Jopsephine Devlin, Teresa Vincent, daughter, Patrick and Charles Redfer, brothers, Mrs. Elizabeth Driscoll, and Mrs. Sarah Southworth, USA, sisters, H. J. Aufiero, and J. Dobbin, Peter Devlin, Joseph Vincent, sons in law, Nora Moran, daughter in law, Agnes Mary Wilson, John Joseph, Kevin, Bonnie and Mary Elizabeth Vincent, Raymond, Sheamus Agatha Anne Peter and Bernadette Devlin, Johnny and Brendan Joseph Dobbin, Mary, Jane and Stephen Joseph Moran, grandchildren, Bobbie and Billie Wilson, great grand children, Charles Wilson. The Southworth and Redfern families, relatives.

John
Moran died at his residence on Brook Street on June 12, 1902 aged 64 years.
The deceased came to this village from Ireland when a lad. He was employed by
the late John Greig as a coachman for many years, and later conducted a
hacking business.
The
Canandaigua of his early years and the prominent men who lived then were
subjects upon which he loved to talk, remembering many incidents that were of
special interest to the present generation. He enjoyed a wide acquaintance and
his familiar figure will be missed from the streets. He had been gradually
failing for several years.
He
is survived by one son, Henry Moran, of Indianapolis, and one daughter, Mrs.
Henry Kennedy of this village. Funeral from St. Mary's Church on Saturday
AM, Rev Dougherty officiating.

Mrs.
John Moran, a former resident of Canandaigua, died at her home in New York
on Saturday evening, January 13th. She leaves a son, Harry A. Moran of
Indianapolis, and a daughter, Mrs. Kennedy of this city, and two sisters,
Mrs. Anna Moore of Rochester, and Mrs. Catherine Rooney of
Canandaigua. The remains are to be brought to Canandaigua and interment made in
Calvary Cemetery.

KENNEDY
- The funeral services of Henry J. Kennedy, aged 56 years, of Clark Street, whose death
occurred at the Memorial hospital on Sunday, after a lingering illness, were
held at St. Mary's church on Wednesday morning with interment at Calvary
Cemetery.
He leaves his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Edward Birr, of
Rochester, four sons, Harry, Thomas, Arlington and John Kennedy, of
Canandaigua, also a brother and sister, Thomas of Canandaigua, and Miss
Sarah Kennedy of Boston. Interment in Calvary.

Henry
J. Kennedy, aged 56 years, of Clark Street, died at Memorial Hospital Sunday

DEATHS OF THE WEEK MRS.
NETTIE MOREY
On Wednesday evening at 7 PM occurred the death of Mrs. Nettie Morey, wife of Oren E. Morey, of Bristol Street, following an illness of long duration. Mrs. Morey was born on August 10, 1854 at Victory, Cayuga County, this state, and was consequently 58 years and five months of age.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Blanchard. On January 5, 1874 she married Owen E. Morey at Hannibal Center, Oswego County. She is survived by her husband, one son, Clair L. Morey, and three grandchildren, all of this village. Two brothers, Day Blanchard of Michigan and Benjamin Blanchard of Mariville, and a sister, Mrs. Alice Chase of East Rochester, also survive.

Known Lawyer Called by Death
Clair
L. Morey, well known Canandaigua attorney, died Sunday, June 17, 1945, in
Clifton Springs Sanitarium where he had been a patient for a week.
A practicing attorney in this city for 40 years, Mr. Morey was a
member of the Ontario County Bar Association and was active in fraternal orders.
He
was a past master of Canandaigua Masonic Lodge, a past district deputy grand
master of Ontario, Yates and Seneca Association, and past commander of Zenobia
Commandery, Knights Templar, Palmyra.
Survivors
are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Dibble Morey, Gooding's Point, three sons, John
R. Morey of Rochester, Robert H. Morey of Canandaigua, and First
Lieut. Milton B. Morey, a physician in medical service in the Pacific
Theatre, and a daughter, Mrs. John A. Riegel of N Y City. His
body was interred 1945 Canandaigua, New
York, Woodlawn Cemetery.
He married twice. He

WEDDING BELLS
Clair
L. Morey and Mrs. Dorothy S. Dibble were married Wednesday afternoon
in the Supreme Court Chambers in Auburn by Justice Benjamin B. Cunningham of
Rochester. Witnesses were Louis B. Freer of Rochester, formerly of
Canandaigua, and Miss Dorothy Emerson of Auburn.
Mr.
and Mrs. Morey leave today for a two week's trip to Florida. Upon their
return they will reside at 216 Chapin Street until Spring, when they will remove
to their lake shore cottage.

Louise Morey was born Canandaigua, New York July 14, 1908.
She
married Edwin
Hicks Gooding.

WEDDING TOMORROW
The
marriage of Miss Isobel Louise Morey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clair
L. Morey, Park Avenue, and Edwin Hicks Gooding of Rochester, formerly of
Canandaigua, will take place at Oak Bluff Lodge, Mr. and Mrs. Morey's
summer home in Washburn's Grove, tomorrow. John R. Morey is a brother.
Mr. Gooding is a son of former Sheriff Elias J. Gooding, who resides
on the Greater Broadway, East of this city, and was for a number of years news
editor on the Messenger here.
