O'BRIEN - O'REILLY

Mary O'Brien was born Canandaigua, New York May 16, 1883. She married James Thomas Flood Canandaigua, New York, August 12, 1902. James was born in West Junius, New York July 30, 1877. James was the son of Thomas Flood and Bridget Kennedy. James died January 15, 1938 Clifton Springs, New York, at 60 years of age.

OBITUARY - FLOOD

James T. Flood, well known former businessman of this vicinity, died at his home 26 Broad St., Clifton Springs, on Saturday night at the age of 60 years, after a long illness. Formerly a resident of Canandaigua he was the traveling representative of the Dold Packing Company for many years, and had a wide circle of acquaintances. He had conducted markets at Shortsville and Clifton Springs.

He is survived by his widow, one brother, John M. Flood of Canandaigua, and 5 nephews and nieces. Funeral held Tuesday at his home and at St. Felix church with Rev. James O'Brien officiating. Burial at St. Agnes Cemetery.

At 24 years of age Abram became the father of Burrell T. Cappon New York, October 1890. At 33 years of age Abram became the father of Alice Cappon Canandaigua, New York, July 10, 1899.

Patrick² O'Keefe was born Ireland March 17, 1842. Patrick died April 27, 1921 Canandaigua, New York, at 79 years of age.

O'KEEFE - The death of Patrick O'Keefe aged 79 years occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. G. Engert, Scotland Road on Wednesday. Besides his daughter there survive 2 sons, John and Vincent of Canandaigua. Interment at Calvary.

He married Bridget McQuillan 1877.^[i] Bridget was born Ireland July 01, 1843. Bridget was the daughter of Lousena McQuillan and Margaret Kirwin. Bridget died September 5, 1914 Canandaigua, New York, at 71 years of age.^[ii] [i]. 1910 Canandaigua Census stated 33 years married [ii]. Canandaigua City Clerk office record number 101 on Page 51, states the informant is Patrick O'keefe.

Mrs. Patrick O'Keefe - Mrs. Bridget O'Keefe, wife of Patrick O'Keefe of Ontario Street, died at Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning. Mrs. O'Keefe who was 71 years of age, had only been at the hospital since the previous evening.

She leaves besides her husband, 2 sons, John and Vincent O'Keefe, both of this city, one daughter, Mrs. G. G. Engert of Rochester, and a brother Patrick Mc Quillan, whose home is in Ireland. Funeral held at St. Mary's church and interment in Calvary.

Elizabeth O'Keefe was born Canandaigua, New York 1883. Elizabeth died 1954 Canandaigua, New York, at 71 years of age. Her body was interred 1954 Canandaigua, New York, Calvary Cemetery She married Gurney Grey Engert Canandaigua, New York, June 28, 1909.^[iii] [iii]. A copy of the Church record is found on PG 1M in the book, A Tree Trunk.

WEDDING ENGERT - O'KEEFE

At 3 45 at the rectory, Gurney G. Engert and Miss Elizabeth O'Keefe were married. The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Anna Russell, of Shortsville, and Albert Foreman, of Pittsford, was the groom's attendant.

The bride's dress was white batiate trimmed with valenciences. She carried bride roses. Her attendant was gowned in white embroidered mull over blue and carried lilies of the valley. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick O'keefe, Ontario Street. They will reside in Canandaigua.

Witnessed by Albert C. Forman and Anna M. Russell.

Gurney was born Farmington, New York October 02, 1880. Gurney was the son of John George Engert and Louise Leiston. Gurney died March 22, 1932 Canandaigua, New York, at 51 years of age.^[iv] [iv]. Canandaigua City clerk office record number 53 on Page 236, states he was married to Elizabeth O'Keefe, and that she was the informant living at 110 Ontario Street.

Gurney G. Engert for many years a well known and highly respected business man of this city died at Memorial Hospital Monday night following a several weeks illness. Mr. Engert was born in Canandaigua 51 years ago and spent his entire life here.

Two years ago he bought the tobacco business of Howard L. Herendeen, which he had since conducted. Prior to that time he was for several years the manager of Endicott Johnson shoe store in this city.

Mr. Engert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth O'Keefe Engert, a son George G. his father John G. Engert, four sisters, Mrs. John Flood, Mrs. Edward T. Hanley, and Miss Lena Engert, all of this city, and Mrs. William Carroll of Geneva. Private services will be held in Ontario Street home, Friday PM at 2 30 o'clock, Rev. Herbert L. Gaylord of St. John's church officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.

John Francis O'Keefe was born Canandaigua, New York November 19, 1884. John died March 19, 1935 Canandaigua, New York, at 50 years of age.

OBITUARY - O'KEEFE

John F. O'Keefe, aged 50 was found dead in the session room of the Erina Hose company Wednesday at 12:30 AM by William Welch and Raymond Ross. He had been dead for several hours. A certificate of death from natural causes was issued.

Mr. O'Keefe is survived by a brother and sister, Vincent O'Keefe and Mrs. Gurney Engert of Canandaigua. Funeral services will be held from the Ahrens and Breen funeral home and from St. Mary's church. Interment will be made in Calvary Cemetery.

Thomas H.¹ O'Reilly was born in County Cavan, Ireland July 08, 1852. Thomas died November 04, 1906 Canandaigua, New York, at 54 years of age.

DIED - O'Reilly At Canandaigua, November 4, 1906, Thomas H. O'Reilly, aged 53 years.

DEATH OF THOMAS H. O'REILLY

Thomas H. O'Reilly, for 31 years one of Canandaigua's best known and respected businessmen, died at his home on Main Street South, on Sunday morning, aged about 53 years. A blood affection known as thrombosis caused death after a short illness. For a half dozen years past, Mr. O'Reilly had been engaged in the ice business, and prior to that time for 26 years operated sprinkling carts.

He was an industrious, upright and hard working man and doubtless overwork hastened his death. Mr. O'Reilly began the street sprinkling service when only the business portion of Main Street afforded the luxury. This was before the days of the water system and the supply of water was taken from wells on Bemis Street, which supplied several elevated wooden tanks. Mr. O'Reilly also conducted both houses in connection with his Bemis Street enterprise.

Besides one brother, James O'Reilly, of Binghamton, two daughters, Retta and Mary, and two sons, Charles and Austin O'Reilly survive. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Church on Wednesday. His body was interred 1906 Canandaigua, New York, Calvary Cemetery.

Thomas H. Jr. O'Reilly was born Canandaigua, New York January 25, 1883. Canandaigua City Clerk office record number 0086. Thomas died May 12, 1904 Canandaigua, New York, at 21 years of age.

OBITUARY - Killed By Electricity Thomas O'Reilly Met Death From Incandescent Wire

Shortly before noon yesterday Thomas H. O'Reilly, Jr., aged 21 years, was fatally shocked by electricity in the cellar of the Fountain Cafe while delivering ice. Stories of just how the shock was received differ. He had gone into the cellar and was preparing to adjust an incandescent burner attached to a long line of insulated wire, when his companions heard him give a cry of pain.

The next instant he was found lying face downward on the cellar bottom, his hands doubled beneath him, gripping the wire. There was a half inch of water under the body and this is supposed to explain the severity of the shock. The limp body was carried from the cellar, and Dr. H. C. Buell, whose office is in the same block, was immediately on hand. Dr. Donovan was also summoned and both worked heroically to restore life, but without success.

Coroner Warner soon arrived and made an investigation. He found the insulation worn from the wire in several places, but was unable to explain the presence of sufficient power in an incandescent circuit to cause death.

The remains were removed to the Curtice undertaking rooms. Expressions of great sympathy were heard on every side for the father, who was prostrated when told that his son was dead.

Thomas O'Reilly - Thomas was born Canandaigua, New York May 25, 1908. Thomas is the son of Charles Francis O'Reilly and Catherine E. Scantlin. He married Claire E. Townley Canandaigua, New York, July 19, 1937.

WEDDING BELLS O'REILLY- TOWNLEY

The marriage of Miss Claire E. Townley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Townley of West Gibson Street, and Thomas O'Reilly of Rochester, son of Charles O'Reilly of Chapel Street, took place Monday morning in the rectory of St. John's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Dr. Herbert L. Gaylord, rector, performing the ceremony.

The bride who was attended by her sister, Miss Edwina M. Townley of this city, wore a gown of navy blue triple sheer, and corsage of sweetheart roses. Her maid of honor was in black and white shantung, with accessories of white and corsage of talisman roses. Leslie Mowery of Palmyra was best man.

Following dinner for the immediate families at Edgewater Inn, West Lake Shore, Mr. and Mrs. O'Reilly left for a short wedding trip. They will live in Canandaigua. The bride is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy in 1934.

Austin H.² O'Reilly was born 1881. He married Katherine Qualter. Katherine was born 1880. Katherine died March 12, 1932 Canandaigua, New York, at 51 years of age.

OBITUARY O'Reilly

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn O'Reilly, who died at Memorial Hospital, Saturday, following a long illness, were held from St. Mary's Church, Tuesday morning. Rev. William J. Devereaux officiated. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. O'Reilly was 52 years of age and had spent her entire life in Canandaigua. She leaves one daughter, Miss Jane O'Reilly, of this city, a half brother and sister, James A. Barry of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Martin O'Brien of Detroit.

Austin H. O'Reilly and Katherine Qualter had the following child:

SPRANKLE - O'REILLY Miss Jane Elizabeth O'Reilly, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Austin H. O'Reilly of Canandaigua, and Cloid Kenneth Sprankle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cloid A. Sprankle, also of this city, were married at St. Mary's Church Wednesday morning, Rev. Michael C. Wall, Rector of the church, performing the ceremony in the presence of the immediate families.

The bride who was attended by Miss Mildred J. Standish of this city, wore a gown of rose beige lace with hat of pink horsehair braid and sandals to correspond. She carried an arm bouquet of gardenias and lilies of the valley. Her bridesmaid was in blue lace with hat of pink horsehair braid trimmed with blue and slippers to correspond. Her arm bouquet was of pink roses. James Cross of Canandaigua was best man.

Following the wedding ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at Wenna Kenna tea room, east lake shore, to 18 guests, including Congressman and Mrs. John Taber of Auburn. Besides the bridal party, other guests were Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Sprankle, Miss Katherine Sprankle, Charles O'Reilly, Father Wall, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Beecher, Misses Phyllis Hurlbutt and Helen W. Green, Fred E. Reed, Francis A. Brady, and George W. Park, all of Canandaigua. The table was centered with the bridal bouquets and lighted with pink tapers in silver candlesticks.

After a motor trip to Canada and a cruise up the Saguenay river Mr. and Mrs. Sprsnkle will live at 65 South Street, Auburn. Mr. Sprankle is secretary to Congressman Taber. Both he and his bride are graduates of Canandaigua Academy. She has been a member of the Canandaigua National Bank Trust Company force for three years.

Charles Francis² O'Reilly was born March 12, 1885. He married Catherine E. Scantlin Canandaigua, New York, June 26, 1907.^[v] [v]. Canandaigua City clerk office record number 1763.

A DOUBLE WEDDING O'REILLY -SCANTLIN

At Canandaigua June 26, 1907, Charles O'Reilly and Miss Catherine Scantlin, both of Canandaigua.

A double wedding took place in St. Mary's Church on Wednesday afternoon when Charles O'Reilly and Miss Catherine Scantlin, and David Gentner and Miss Mary J. O'Reilly, all of Canandaigua, were united in marriage, Rev. James T. Dougherty officiating.

Among the nuptial ceremonies which the closing days of June witnessed was a double wedding at St. Mary's Church on Wednesday afternoon, when Rev. James T. Dougherty united in marriage, Charles Francis O'Reilly and Miss Catherine Elizabeth Scantlin, and David Frederick Gentner and Miss Mary Delores O'Reilly.

The brides were similarly attired in Persian lawn, trimmed with Valencienne lace, and embroidery and carried white carnations. The ceremony was followed by a wedding supper served at the Scantlin residence. Mr. and Mrs. O'Reilly and Mr. and Mrs. Gentner will reside here.

Charles Francis O'Reilly and Catherine E. Scantlin had the following children:

Thomas³ O'Reilly was born Canandaigua, New York May 25, 1908. He married twice. He married Ann Coleman Clifton Springs, New York, December 15, 1928. Registration number 37, Marriage License, shows him living at 28 Chapel Street, Canandaigua, NY, he is born May 25, 1907, Canandaigua, Father is Charles, and Mother is Caroline Scanlon. Ann Coleman, residence is Manchester, born New Mexico, October 17, 1910, Father Ben Coleman, Romania, Mother, Carla Patton.

Ann was born in New Mexico October 17, 1910. Ann is the daughter of Ben Coleman and Carla Patton. He married 2nd Claire E. Townley Canandaigua, New York, July 19, 1937.
