TRACEY
Mrs.
Gertrude L. Tracey, 84, of 40 Gibson Street, died today in Thompson
Hospital, where she had been a patient for 10 days.
She was born in Brighton, March 6, 1878, the daughter of the late Edward
and Mary Elizabeth Beal Phetteplace.
She
was the widow of William Tracey, Canandaigua postmaster, who died in
1932. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Women's Auxiliary and
St. Catherine's Chapter of the church, and the Timely Topics Club.
She
is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Walter T. Flynn of Canandaigua, three
grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Harold G. Bacon, Canandaigua, Mrs.
John M. Bacon, Camden, NJ, and Mrs. Edwin B. Durfee of Rochester, a
brother Frederick R. Phetteplace, Daytona, Fla., two nieces and one
nephew. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Tracey, Jr. and Miss Gertrude L. Phetteplace were married at the home of the
bride's father, Edward Phetteplace, at Macedon, on Wednesday morning at
11 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Tracey are now in New York City.
The
groom is a member of the grocery firm of Tracey and Parmele, and his bride has
been employed as stenographer in the Lisk office. They will reside at 79 West
Gibson Street.
William

William was the son of William E. Sr. Tracey
and Ursula
Dukelow.
William

SUDDEN DEATH
OF WILLIAM
E. TRACEY IS SHOCK TO FRIENDS
Was
supposed to be making good recovery from operation, appointed Postmaster in 1930
after long business career. The death of William E. Tracey, postmaster of
Canandaigua and long a figure in the business life of the city, occurred at the
Memorial hospital shortly before 2 PM Thursday, and came as a decided shock to
his associates and many friends. Mr. Tracey underwent an operation for appendicitis
Saturday, and was apparently making a good recovery when a cerebral embolism
ended his life.
Mr.
Tracey was born in Canandaigua 55 years ago, the son of William and
Ursula Tracey. He received his education in the public schools and the old
Canandaigua Academy and began his business career as bookkeeper in the W. W.
Wilcox store. He later formed a partnership with Albert B. Parmele in
the grocery business and then opened a store of his own which he continued until
June 1931. Upon the death of Postmaster Edwin P. Gardner he was named as
acting postmaster and in January, 1930, received the appointment as postmaster.
He
was a member of the Merrill Hose Company and was vice president of the
Canandaigua Rotary Club, having been acting president for several weeks because
of the illness of the president William F. Lewis. He presided at the
meeting of the club, last Thursday noon.
Besides his wife, Mr. Tracey is survived by one daughter, Miss Ursula Tracey, four sisters, Misses Katherine and Isaphine Tracey, and Mrs. Helen VanDenbergh of Rochester, and Mrs. Mary Brown of Hopewell, and a brother James Tracey of Buffalo.

The
marriage of Miss Florence A. Phetteplace,
Park Street, and Harold Gallup Bacon,
of the Chapin Road, took place at St. John's church this morning at 9 AM.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Herbert L Gaylord in the
presence of the immediate families.
The bride who was attended by her sister, Mrs. William Tracey, was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Mr. Tracey. The groom was attended by his brother, Orin S Bacon Jr. After a wedding trip to New York Mr. and Mrs. Bacon will reside on the groom's farm on the Chapin Road.
Maude2 Phillips was born February 18, 1878. Maude

Maude Phillips Freer of Lake Bluff Road, town of Huron, died Sunday, January
6, 1974, at Myers Community Hospital, age 95. She leaves six daughters, Mrs.
Agatha Bills of W. Walworth, Mrs. Mable Wickens of Warsaw, Mrs.
George Florence Lawrence of Palmyra, Mrs. Robert Frances McDowell of
Wolcott, Miss Eva Freer of Wolcott, Mrs. Helen McDowell of N.
Tonawanda, three sons, Floyd, Russell and Harley, all of Wolcott, besides
her children she leaves 24 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren, and six gr

Suddenly in Newark Hospital Tuesday morning June 12, 1934, Frank G. Freer, age 59 years. He leaves surviving his wife, Maude Phillips Freer, four sons, seven daughters, seven grand children, his mother, and one brother. Funeral services from the home on Palmyra Marion Road, Thursday June 14. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Williamson.

Seven
children motherless, Mrs. James S. Fogarty died on Sunday following an
operation, aged 43 years. Her death has aroused the deepest sympathy for seven
children are left motherless. Mrs. Fogarty was formerly Miss Sarah Phipps. She
was a devoted member of St. Mary's church and there she will be sadly missed
also.
She
leaves besides her husband and children, her mother, Mrs. David Phipps of
this village, one brother, David, and four sisters, misses Margaret
and Emma Phipps, and Mrs. Harry Cory, Shortsville, and Mrs. Elizabeth
Diets of Bloomington, Ill.

In Canandaigua, December 16, Mrs. James S. Fogarty, aged 43 years.
FOGARTY - Sunday afternoon at the Canandaigua Hospital of Physicians and Surgeons occurred the death of Mrs. James S. Fogarty, aged 43 years. Mrs. Fogarty had undergone an operation on the previous Wednesday, but her recovery was confidently looked for and her death was a shock to her many friends. Mrs. Fogarty before her marriage was Miss Sarah E. Phipps.
She was born in Manchester, July 29, 1868, and on June 30, 1886 she was married to James S. Fogarty, of this place, and has always resided here. She was a woman of the Christian character and life , and her beloved husband and children have the sympathy of the entire community in their affliction.
She
is survived by her husband and seven children, two boys, William and Henry,
and five little daughters, Catherine, Marguerite, Mildred, Agnes,
and, Her funeral was held from St.
Mary's church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

both of Canandaigua, took place at St. Mary's rectory on Wednesday afternoon, Rev.

James
S. Fogarty died here on Sunday night following a long illness, at the age of
71 years. Mr. Fogarty
was a life long resident of Canandaigua, having been born here on June 2, 1856.
He had been active in the affairs of the community having served as a member of
the former Canandaigua village light commission and for several years as chief
of the Canandaigua fire department.
He
joined the old Steamer Company, No. 1, in 1875 and upon its merger with the
Erina Hose company became a charter member of that organization. He was for 35
years engineer at the Smith Bros. Mill and held a similar position with the New
York Canners for the past ten years.
He
is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs Louis H. Brown, Mrs. W. G.
Lapham, Mrs. Charles Henderson, and Mrs. Edward M. Breen, and a son, W.
J. Fogarty, all of Canandaigua, NY. The funeral was held this morning from
St. Mary's church, with interment in Calvary Cemetery.
His
body was
interred 1927 Canandaigua, New York, Calvary Cemetery.

became the
father of Dorothy Sarah Fogarty

The
funeral of Mrs. Wm. Bostwick was held from the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Leonard Appleton in the North Eastern part of the town Wednesday PM at 2
o'clock, being conducted by Rev. W. D. Robinson, and interment was made
in the village cemetery.
Mrs.
Bostwick had been an invalid for many years and her death occurred at
Willard Sunday April 13 at the age of 42 years. Survived by her husband and two
daughters, Mrs. Leonard Appleton of this town, and Mrs. Ada Hartman of
Lima. Her
body was
interred 1913 East Bloomfield, New York, E. Bloomfield Cemetery.

William was born East
Bloomfield, New York 1871. He
appears in the 1910 census at Canandaigua living with his daughter and her
husband. His wife Jennie is not at the residence. William was the son of William
H. Sr. Bostwick
and Ann
Wheatley.

Death of William H. Bostwick at Canandaigua, April 21, 1926, of
Holcomb, aged 55 years.
The
death of William H. Bostwick occurred at Memorial Hospital last Wednesday
afternoon following an operation for appendicitis. He was born in E. Bloomfield
55 years ago and had always resided in this section.
He had been a mason foreman for the NY Central RR for the past 16 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Appleton
of Holcomb, with whom he resided, and Mrs. Clifford Hartford of Avon,
also by a brother and two sisters, Herman Bostwick of Rochester, Mrs.
Ralph Short and Mrs. Pitts Short, both of Seattle Washington. Interment at
East Bloomfield.
