RICKETSON - ROWE

John Jr.² Ricketson was born Dutchess County, New York July 1839. John died February 19, 1903 Bristol, New York, at 63 years of age.

BRISTOL SPRINGS - John Ricketson died at his home in this place on February 19. In April last he suffered a severe stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered. He was able to walk about and do some light work. Mr. Ricketson was born in Dutchess County in July 1839, and came to this town with his widowed mother when about 16 years of age.

Soon after, he settled upon the farm where he had resided until recently. He had served the town as justice of the peace for several years, and resigned that office after the severe illness which overtook him the past season. He was supervisor for two terms during the eighties. The deceased was a member of the Society of Friends, and although like the sect to which he belonged, he was not demonstrative, his quiet and abiding faith in a Higher Power was evident to those who associated with him. He had been a member of Canandaigua Lodge No. 294, F and A M, for many years. As a citizen, a public benefactor, and a kind and sympathetic neighbor, he will be sadly missed in this community.

A wife and one son, Henry Ricketson, and two daughters, Mrs. O. B. Roper, of East Bloomfield, and Mrs. W. C. Hemenway, of this place, survive him. The funeral was held at the church on Saturday, Rev. Peter McKenzie officiating. The attendance was large and included life long acquaintances from this and surrounding towns. The interment was in the Coye Cemetery. His body was interred 1903 Bristol, NY, Coye Cemetery.

John Jr. Ricketson and Jeanette Trembly had the following children:

Mary³ Ricketson was born April 28, 1870. Mary died January 22, 1879 South Bristol, New York, at 8 years of age.

Edith Ricketson was born South Bristol, New York September 24, 1874. Edith died October 13, 1917 in Bristol Valley, New York, at 43 years of age.

We notice that Will C. Hemenway and Miss Edith Ricketson were married Xmas day at her sister's, Mrs. O. B. Roper, in East Bloomfield. They have set up their Lares and Penates in the C. G. Hemenway homestead a little North of this place. We are pleased that Edith moved no further distance from us.

Emily Ricketson was born February 1878. Emily died April 18, 1879 Bristol Springs, New York, at 1 year of age.

Charles C. W.² Riddell was born in Brockville, Canada 1879. He married Helen Louise VanDenbergh Canandaigua, New York, December 31, 1917.

RIDDELL - VANDENBERGH

The marriage of Charles C.W. Riddell of Rochester, and Helen Louise VanDenbergh, West Gibson Street, took place on Monday afternoon. Rev. C. Clarence Baker performed the ceremony.

Helen Louise VanDenbergh was born March 1889. Helen was the daughter of Jacob Shulters VanDenbergh and Cornelia Jane Reddington. She married Thomas A. Scantlin Canandaigua, New York, November 14, 1906.^[i] ]. Canandaigua City Clerk office record number 1708 shows her age as 18 years, his age as 24 years.

Stephen Russell¹ Ridgely was born in Greensboro January 29, 1943. He married Shelley Shenkman October 1965. Shelley was born Seattle, Washington February 12, 1943.

BIRTH - SHENKMAN - At Seattle, Washington, February 12, 1943, a daughter to Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Bernard Shenkman. Mrs. Shenkman was Miss Henrietta Bill, of Canandaigua. Shelley is the daughter of Bernard Shenkman and Henrietta Bills.

Henry³ Ridley was born in Worth, Sussex, England May 08, 1831. Henry may be Harriet Ridley's father and Henry S. Ridley would be her brother. On the death certificate for Henry , it said his father Alber and he was in the USA since 1879. Henry died September 10, 1903 Geneva, New York, at 72 years of age.

OBITUARY - The funeral of Henry Ridley, who died Thursday, will be held at his home, No. 47 Avenue B, tomorrow afternoon and at St. Peter's church. Rev. J. B. Hubbs will officiate and the burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo. The members of the G. A. R., Swift Post, No. 49 and Green Smith command, No. 6, U. V. U, will attend in a body. His body was interred 1903 Waterloo, New York, Maple Grove Cemetery.

He married Nancy Maloney. Nancy was born Ireland 1835. Nancy died December 18, 1901 Geneva, New York, at 66 years of age.

Harriet E. Ridley was born Waterloo, New York May 24, 1865. Harriet died July 21, 1949 Geneva, New York, at 84 years of age.

Geneva Town Hall Death record number 119, widowed, husband Eugene Marshall. She was born May 24, 1865, at Waterloo, and was aged 84 years, 1 mo, 27 das. Father was Henry Ridley, mother, Nancy Maloney.

MRS. HARRIET R. MARSHALL

Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth Ridley Marshall, 84, 100 E. North Street, widow of Eugene Marshall, died last night in her home following a long illness.

Mrs. Marshall was born in the Town of Waterloo, May 24, 1865, daughter of Henry and Nancy Maloney Ridley. She had lived in Geneva for a number of years. She belonged to St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church and the Rosary Society of the church.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Andrew C. Brown, three sons, Eugene J. and Elvey, all of Geneva, John D., Niagara Falls., two brothers, Elvey and Martin Ridley, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her body was interred 1949 Geneva, New York, St. Patrick's Cemetery.

She married Eugene Abraham Marshall Clifton Springs, New York, July 04, 1890. Eugene was born Waterloo, New York July 1865. Eugene was the son of Samuel Dean Marshall and Elizabeth Hill. Eugene died October 26, 1911 Geneva, New York, at 46 years of age.

OBITUARY Eugene Marshall

Eugene Marshall died this morning at 12 o'clock, of neuritis at his home, No. 9 Gates Avenue. He is survived by his widow, three sons, Eugene Jr., Alvai and John, and one daughter, Marie, of Geneva, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Marshall of Waterloo, one brother, John Marshall of Port Byron, three sisters, Mrs. Healy Dadson of Fayette, Mrs. Rene Taylor of Hillsdale, Mich., and Miss Isabelle Marshall of Waterloo.

The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from his late residence. Rev. William McPadden, assistant rector of St. Francis de Sales church will officiate, and interment will be made at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Henry S.⁴ Ridley was born Waterloo, New York September 1861. Henry died October 05, 1900 Geneva, New York, at 39 years of age. GENEVA DAILY TIMES

Henry S. Ridley died at the family residence, 91 North Street, at 1 o'clock this morning, aged 40 years. Besides his mother and father he is survived by a wife and four small children, five sisters, Mrs. Amos Thornton, of Harvey, NY, Mrs. Edgar Bulgar, Buffalo, and Mrs. Thomas Laing, Mrs. Eugene Marshall and Mrs. Benjamin Schroyer, of this city, and three brothers, Martin Ridley and John Ridley, of this city, and Elvey Ridley, of Auburn.

The deceased had been confined to the house by illness for the past year. He had resided in Geneva 10 years, and was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales church. The funeral will take place from St Francis church Monday morning. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

William was born in Harby, Leicestershire, England January 09, 1832. William was the son of Richard Wheatley and Elizabeth Smith . He married Sarah Emily Maybee 1867. William died June 15, 1908 Manchester, New York, at 76 years of age.

Death of William Wheatley

William Wheatley, one of the oldest residents of the town of Manchester, died at his home, about one mile East of the village, on Monday morning at 5 o'clock. Death was caused by rheumatism of the heart.

He was about 77 years of age and is survived by his widow, five daughters, Mrs. David Slack, of Clifton Springs, Mrs. George VanGelder of Canandaigua, Mrs. Harriet Hornsby, of Palmyra, Mrs. John Slack, and Mrs. Daniel Damon of this village, and two sons, Richard of Hopewell, and Albert who resides at the farm home.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Methodist church, Rev. S. S. Pratt officiating. The interment was in the old Manchester Cemetery. Mr. Wheatley has been a great sufferer from rheumatism for many months and it was with difficulty that he was able to tend to his labors.

He had been a frequent caller at our sanctum during the years we have had the privilege to know him, and was a very interesting talker, often relating many historical facts concerning the town of Manchester. It is with deep regret that we learn of his death and we shall sorely miss his presence from our village.

DIED WHEATLEY - At Shortsville, June 15, 1908, William Wheatley.

Maria² Roosevelt was born August 05, 1753. Maria died July 19, 1841 New York City, New York, at 87 years of age. She married Colonel Richard Varick New York, New York, May 08, 1786. Dutch Reformed Church.

Colonel Richard was born Hackensack, New Jersey March 25, 1753. Colonel was the son of John Varick and Jane Dey . Colonel died July 30, 1831 Jersey City, New Jersey, at 78 years of age.

SENECA FARMER and SENECA FALLS ADVERTISER August 31, 1831

DIED - Col. Richard Varick died Saturday night at Jersey City, aged 79. At the beginning of the Revolution he was the Military Secretary to George Schuyler and afterward Aide to Gen. Arnold. Though he was not suspected of treason and Arnold acquitted him of any in a letter to Washington, he was at his own request tried by court martial which acquitted him. He officiated for a time as Inspector General at West Point and was at the battles of Stillwater and Saratoga.

Jack Delbert¹ Rowe. He married Marian R. Donovan. Marian was born 1907. Marian was the daughter of William F. Donovan and Grace VanDenbergh. She married Raymond Whitcomb VanDenbergh Victor, New York, August 17, 1946. Marian died December 27, 1988 Rochester, New York, at 81 years of age.
