Mrs.
David Schlecht died at the Sanitarium in Clifton Springs Wednesday night,
April 27, aged forty four years. She was a daughter of the late William and
Sarah Maybee Wheatley, and was born in the town of Manchester in 1883.
She is survived by her husband, David Schlecht, two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Dibble of Canandaigua, Miss Thelma Schlecht, Elmer and Clifford Schlecht, all of Shortsville, four sisters, Mrs. Harriet Wolcott of Manchester, Mrs. William Larner and Mrs. John Schlecht of Manchester Center, and Mrs. Mame Daiman of Shortsville, one brother, Albert Wheatley of Shorstville, and one half brother, Richard Wheatley of Hopewell. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the Baptist church in Manchester.

Schlecht, 76, of North Main Street, Manchester, died Monday in
Thompson Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua, NY, following a long illness.
His wife, the former Miss Julia Wheatley of Shortsville, whom he
married in March 1905, died May 1, 1960.
He
is survived by three sons, Glen of Manchester, Harry of Chandler,
Ariz, and Ralph of Westerly, RI, four grandchildren, three great
grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Crowell, Buffalo, Mrs. Una
Longrod, and Mrs. Anna Hildreth, both of Lyons, and a sister in
Florida, also several nieces and nephews. Interment in Pioneer Cemetery,
Shortsville Road. His
body was interred 1960 Manchester, New
York, Pioneer Cemetery.

John S. Schlecht and Miss Julia Wheatley were united in marriage by the Rev.
S. S. Ferris at the Presbyterian parsonage on Wednesday evening. Mr. and
Mrs. S. are young people of much promise, and have the best wishes of many
friends for their future happiness and success.

MANCHESTER - Mrs. John Schlecht
Mrs.
Juliet Schlecht, 70, a native and lifelong resident Manchester, died Sunday
in Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua, following a long illness.
She was born March 19, 1887, the daughter of the late William and
Sarah Wheatley. She married John Schlecht in 1905.
She was a member of the Methodist and Ondalinda Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, Glen of Manchester, Harry of Chandler, Ariz., and Ralph of Westerly, RI., four grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Interment in Pioneer Cemetery.

Death of Mortimer Sleght.
About
midnight on Sunday, at his home on Scotland Road, occurred the death of Mortimer
Sleght, a long time and respected resident. Mr. Sleght had been in
failing health for several years, and since November had been confined to the
home with a complication of heart and kidney troubles.
Deceased was born here sixty six years ago, and most of his life had been spent here. He was a Constable for over twenty years, and was turnkey under Sheriff Robert H. Wheeler. In 1870 he married Harriet L. Scott, of Rochester, who with three sons, Walter S., Francis J., and Carlton M. Sleght, all prominent in the business life of the village survive. One brother, Carlton W. Sleght, of Allen's Hill, also survives.
Mr. Sleght was a a member of Company K, N Y Mounted
Rifles, which did valiant service in the Civil War. Funeral services were held
on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Lewis Sweet of the Presbyterian church
conducting the service.
The Ontario County Journal, Friday, May 9, 1909, listed him as a soldier
buried in Woodlawn.

In Canandaigua on Saturday morning September 22, 1888, Olive Higby,
wife of Evander Sly in her 80th year.

The
oldest and best known residents of this village have been critically ill for the
last 10 days, but both are now rapidly recovering.
Considering their advanced age this fortunate result was hardly expected.
Their three sons from New York with their families have been with them about a
week.

The
sudden death of William T. Schley occurred on Monday at his residence at
Far Hills, NJ, aged 72 years. Deceased was the son of the late Evander Schley
and for many years resided here. He later engaged in the practice of law at
NY City, and at one time was attorney for NY Central RR.
Besides his wife Mary Reeve Schley he leaves one son, Reeve
Schley of NY City, and one daughter, Mrs. William B. Shackford of
Tenefly, NJ, and a brother Grant B. Schley of NY City. The remains will
be brought to Canandaigua, interment at Woodlawn. His
body was
interred 1912 Canandaigua, New York, Woodlawn Cemetery.

B. SCHLEY -
It was with regret that Canandaiguans learned Friday of the death in New
York City of Grant B. Schley, banker and native Canandaiguan who has been
generous to all causes. He gave 10 thousand dollars to the Board of Education at
a needed time to complete the Academy building, and 5 thousand dollars to erect
the Historical Building. He was the last of the children of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Evander Sly of this community.
The
death of Grant B. Schley, son of Evander Schley, formerly of
Canandaigua, occurred at his country residence in Far Hills, NJ., on Thursday.
Deceased was born at Chapin on February 22, 1845, and began his business
career as a clerk in the express office at Canandaigua, and later was employed
in Syracuse.
He went to New York City in 1866 and had ever since been prominently identified with banking interests. He was a senior member of the firm of Moore and Schley bankers in Manhatten, and a member of the New York Stock Exchange since 1881. He was a director in many large corporations. The funeral services were held at the late home on Saturday morning. Interment in New York City.

The
death of Mrs. Helena Olsowsky, aged 78 years, occurred at her home, 193
Pultney Street yesterday afternoon. Surviving are three daughters, Miss Anna
Olsowsky of Geneva, Mrs. C. Linehan of Buffalo, and Sister M.
Alexia of the Order of St. Joseph's at Oswego, three sons, Charles
Olsowsky and Anthony J. Olsowsky of Geneva, and Augustine Olsowsky of
Wellsville, NY, and one brother, Ignatius Schmeier of Chicago, also
fifteen grandchildren.
The
funeral will be held on Tuesday morning from her late home and from St.
Stephen's church. Her
body was
interred 1927 Geneva, New York, St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Mrs. Emma M. Nellis, 63, of 47 Geneva St., Lyons, died yesterday,
Sept. 30, 1962, in the Edward J. Barber Hospital here after a brief
illness. Born in Alloway October
26, 1898, daughter of Louis and Mary Holtz Schutt, she always lived here.
Mrs.
Nellis was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Auxiliary of
Lyons Memorial Post Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She was a Gold Star Mother.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond M. Nellis, one
daughter, Mrs. Robert Marr of Lyons, three sons, Robert H. of
Palmyra, William R. of Spencerport, and Charles R. Nellis of
Lyons, nine grandchildren. The
service will be held Wednesday with Rev. Edgar Trexler Jr. of St. John's
Lutheran Church officiating. Burial
will be in Lyons Rural Cemetery

- Raymond M. Nellis of 52, Shuler St., Lyons, died
Thursday June 30, 1966, in Barber Hospital, Lyons.
He was 69.
He was born Aug. 20, 1896, in Geneva, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron
Nellis, but had lived in Lyons 53 years.
Mr. Nellis retired in 1961 as a clerk on the New York Central
Railroad.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Brotherhood of
Railroad Clerks, and an honorary member of the VFW of Lyons.
Surviving
are three sons, Robert of Palmyra, William of Brandon, Fla.,
Charles of Lyons, one daughter, Mrs. Robert Marr of Lyons, nine
grandchildren, two brothers, Deo Nellis of Lyons, Harold Nellis of
Phelps, three sisters, Mrs. Richard Kleinhenz of Lyons, Mrs. Augusta
Rockwell of Indiana
and Mrs. Bernard Gendreau of Rochester.
A service will be held in the Boeheim Funeral Home, Lyons, today, where friends may call. Rev. Robert T. Kroth, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lyons Rural Cemetery.
