If coming to Victor to do research, you can contact us to meet with you. We will also make an appointment for you to meet with the Town Historian, Babette Huber to assist in your research, if interested. 

 

 

MEMBERSHIP

Membership Application

Membership is $10.00/year and that entitles the member to reduced rates for research and copies.  We will be publishing a quarterly newsletter which will be sent to all members.  Please let us know if you would prefer having the newsletters emailed to you, rather than by regular post.  Please make cheks payable to the Victor Genealogical Society.

Members could also participate in workshops and/or programs.  We have put on 2 workshops/programs so far this year and plan on additional ones this fall.  We have several researches and many of our members are also members of the NSDAR.  So we can help direct them to the right people if you are interested.  We are also partnering with the town of Victor Historian to do oral histories this year.  We are also partnering with the Victor Historical Society to do some joint events this year.

 

Dr. Alfred Mead was a prominent Physician in Victor and President of the Ontario County Medical Society.  Mead Square Park, in the center of Victor, is named for him.  The plaque is located at the park, in honor of Dr. Mead. Dryer house on Dryer Road

This is a cobblestone house built sometime after 1833   The original owner was Otis Dryer, and it is a Greek revival house.  Otis was born 3/19/1799 in Montpelier, Vt.   He was primarily a sheep farmer, which was a profitable business in the 1830's.  He married Lucinda Dryer on Nov 30, 1823 and he died in Victor on January 4, 1873 and is buried in Boughton Hill Cemetery.  

The Seavey Home in Victor

Built in1818, Mr. Seavey was a blacksmith by trade, a Mason and a Universalist.  He died in 1875 and was the father of  Layfayette W. Seavey, one of the leading artists in the US. in his time.
