CHARLES Nott
- Aged about 35 years, wife of Charles Nott,
of the West Lake Shore Road, died at the Memorial Hospital yesterday afternoon
following an operation for gall stones about five weeks ago.
She
is survived by her husband and three small children, also her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. R. Melvin Pierce, and two
brothers, Leon and Rollin, and three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Sangster, Mrs. Jessie Case,
and Miss Jennie Pierce.

Nott - The
death of Mrs. Minerva H. Pierce,
wife of Charles E. Nott,
West Lake Road, occurred at Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Deceased
underwent an operation five weeks ago.
She
was born in Bristol, on March 5, 1875. Besides her husband, she leaves three
small sons, Melvin C. , Sibley E., and Walter, her parents Mr. and Mrs. R.
Melvin Pierce,
two brothers, Leon and Rollen Pierce,
three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Case,
Mrs. Mabel Sangster,
and Miss Jennie Pierce, of Canandaigua.
The
funeral services will be held from the parents’ home on Cheshire Road, today.
Rev. Livingston L. Taylor will officiate.
Interment will be at Bristol. Her body was interred 1914 Bristol, New York,
Flatiron Road Cemetery.

delivered a baby girl Pierce
to M. Pierce and M. Andrews
on 5 March 1872.

73, father of Police Chief Leland W. Pierce, died Friday night (July 17, 1953).
Mr. Pierce
was born in Bristol Aug. 20, 1879, the son of Daniel and Madeline Carpenter Pierce.
He was a life long resident of this area and for the past two years had
served as gardener and caretaker at the Tuttle estate, Howell St.
He and his wife, Mrs. Julia Farnum Pierce,
had made their home at 116 Howell St. Mr.
Pierce was a former
member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows.
Survivors
include his wife; two other sons, Stuart J. Pierce, Canandaigua, and Alvin H. Pierce, Mexico, N. Y.;
two sisters, Miss Lena Pierce
and Mrs. Lulu Farnsworth,
both of Canandaigua; one brother, William Pierce,
Canandaigua, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends
may call at the Kennedy Funeral Chapel Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held from the funeral chapel Monday at 2 p.m.
The Rev. Stephen S. Pratt,
retired Methodist minister, will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

schools. He retired in 1947 after
being employed for many years as custodian of the Canandaigua schools.
He
is survived by his wife, Mrs. Isabelle Fox
Pierce;
four daughters, Mrs. Fred Eisline,
Mrs. Anthony Vecchi,
Mrs. William Sage, and Mrs.
Robert J. Brown of Canandaigua; three sons, Irmin L. Jr. of

Kenneth Pierce, cast a gloom throughout the vicinity and the
bereaved family is receiving the sympathy of their many friends.
Death was due to influenza. Clarence
Briggs Pierce
passed away at Memorial Hospital on Friday night, following a weeks illness.
He was born in Gorham, a son of George W. and Fannie Francis
Pierce, April 19,
1890. He was married to Elva
Bernice Bliss
at Bristol on April 19, 1911. George
Kenneth Pierce was born on December 13, 1912.
His death occurred on Sunday. He
was a bright and lovable lad and gave great promise of growing to useful
manhood. They had resided in South
Bloomfield for two years. Mr. Pierce
leaves his widow, Mrs. Elva Bliss
Pierce,
of South Bloomfield; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Pierce, two brothers
and four sisters, Irmin, Howard, Ruth and Marion Pierce , Mrs. George Conyne
of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Earl Case

Clarence died 8 Dec 1918, but according to Rev O. F. Alford he died 23
January 1919. 23 January could just
be the date Rev. Alford entered the info, or maybe the date that Clarence
and George were buried.

Mrs.
Ruth Margaret Cartwright, wife of
Rochester Postmaster Louis B. Cartwright
and a leading churchwoman, died at her home, 141 Brookwood Road, Brighton,
yesterday (Sept. 30, 1960), after an 18 month illness. She was 68. Her husband
also served as Rochester city manager from 1940 to 1953 when he resigned to
become postmaster.
Mrs.
Cartwright
was born on June 21, 1892 in Canandaigua, the daughter or Mr. and Mrs. George W.
Pierce.
Her father was manager of Brigham Hall farm.
She was married in her parents home there on her birthday in 1922. Mrs. Cartwright
was active in local civic and church affairs. She was responsible for all Red
Cross activities in the 19th ward as chairman of the ward unit of the
Rochester-Monroe County Chapter. She also was a charter member of the Women of
Rotary, a member of the Friends of Rochester Public Library and a past secretary
and past vice-president of the Woman's Council of the Rochester Museum
Association.
Mrs.
Cartwright
was a member of the board of trustees, member of the board of stewards and
president of the Association of Universalist Woman, Rochester Chapter, of the
First Universalist Church of Rochester. She also served on the national board of
the Association of Universalist Woman from 1945-1949. She was especially
interested in the international church extension committee, and was given an
honorary life membership in the association at the 1953 Assembly of the
Universalist Church of America. Mrs. Cartwright
was the vice-president of the New York State Woman's Universalist Association
from 1952-53.
Through
her interest in international service, she sponsored and provided a home for six
years for Aiko Onishi, a Universalist
girl from Japan. During that time
Miss Aiko was graduated from the Eastman School of Music and received an artists
diploma in piano. She returned to
Tokyo in 1956 and is now teaching and giving concert piano performances.
Another of Mrs. Cartwright's interests
was the Clara Barton Camp for diabetic children maintained by the
Association of Universalist Woman at the birthplace of Miss Barton,
at Oxford, Mass. The women of the
Rochester church will present an organ to the camp in Mrs. Cartwright's memory.
Besides
her husband, Mrs. Cartwright is survived
by two daughters, Miss Eleanor L. Cartwright
and Mrs. George E. Croop,
both of Rochester; three sisters, Mrs. Earl F. Case of Rochester, Mrs.
George Conyne of Canandaigua and Mrs. William Davis
of Geneva; her brother, Irmin L. Pierce
of Canandaigua; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A
memorial service will be held at 2 P. M. on Monday at the First Universalist
Church. Friends may contribute to the Radiation Therapy fund of Strong Memorial
Hospital or the Memorial Fund of the First Universalist Church.

79, of Geneva, died Thursday in Geneva General Hospital after a long illness.
She
was born in Canandaigua August 22,1894, the daughter of George and Fannie Francis
PIERCE.
Mrs. Davis
was a graduate of the Thompson Hospital School of Nursing and practiced in
Canandaigua and Clifton Springs. A Geneva resident for the past 21 years, she
was a past matron of the Canandaigua Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star
and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Geneva.
Survivors
include her husband William, a son Roger J. Cade
of Ventura, Calif., a daughter Mrs. Edward (Janet) Hansen of Orleans; two
sisters Mrs. Earl (Esther) Case
of Rochester and Mrs. C. Harvey (Lois) Jewett

Nursing Home.
He
is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (J. T.) Aldridge
of Boston, Mass.; his son Bruce (Diana) Pierce
LCDR CEC USN-Ret. of New Bern, N.C.; his brother Irmin (Pauline) Pierce
Jr. of Tyngsboro, Mass., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by
his wife, Marjorie, in 1996 and his brother Sherwood "Bill" Pierce
and four sisters Virginia Vecchi,

and Beverly Eiseline.
Mr.
Pierce
was born in Canandaigua. He
attended Canandaigua schools and graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1941.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War Two, serving in the Pacific
Theater. Mr. Pierce
retired in 1979 after 37 years with the New York State Department of Audit and
Control in Rochester.
There
will be no prior calling hours. His
funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 30 at 7:00 pm at the John C. Johnson
Funeral Home, Inc., 47 North Main Street, Canandaigua.

station in Waterloo for several years and worked for Health Survey Consultants
from 1962 to 1971. He was employed
by Ontario County as district manager of three Soil and Water Conservation
District retiring in 1990.

nurse at Canandaigua VA Medical Center in 1945 and later worked at the
Canandaigua Medical Group for 23 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church.
