The Angel of Death, with his withering hand,
Touched the flow'r just ope'ing in beauty to sight,
And bore it away to the spirit land,
To bask in the rays of its purer light.

And from loving ones clustering near by;
Tho' cheerless they felt as it parted from them,
They should mourn not, 'tis safe in regions on high.---S.
