Will of John Post: 05 Apr 1832 15 Aug 1832 Liber I p 378
"I John Post of the town of Monroe in the County of Orange and State of New York, being of sound mind do make and declare this to be my last will and testament as follows: Ist. that my body be buried in a decent and respectful manner and my funeral charges paid by my executors. 2. I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth the use of the farm whereon I now live until my youngest son, Chandler Post arrives at the age of twenty one years or if it should be her choice to have the farm sold I give unto her the yearly interest of one half of the money the farm sells for and what household furniture she choses to keep. 3. I give and bequeath unto my six sons, their names as follows: Stephen, Gersham, Jonas, James John and Chandler Post, the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars each to be paid them when my youngest son comes of age. 4th I give and bequeath unto my daughter Zilpha Stevens, One dollar. 5. I give and bequeath unto my two daughters Ann and abigail Post one cow, six sheep, one bed stead and bedding and twenty five dollars in money each. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Elizabeth poat and my son Stephen Post my executors with full power to dispose of my estate to the best advantage of my heirs and to pay all my just debts and the residue of my estate my will and pleasure is that it be divided equally among my sons and daughters. Witness my hand and seal at Monroe this fifth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two. John Post. His mark and seal.
