WILL OF JONATHAN SEAMAN 1755
New Hempsted, Orange Co., NY

In the name of God, Amen. I, Jonathan SEAMAN of New Hampton in Orange County and province of New York, being somewhat undisposed but of perfect body and knowing that there is an appointed time for all men once to die, I do therefore make, constitute and order this my last will and Testament, in manner and form following, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, and for my body ,eave it to my executors discretion hereafter named to be decently buried nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

Imprimis. I give and bequeath to my loving grandson Jonathan SEAMAN, eldest son of my son Jonathan SEAMAN, deceased, of ..chy County (now Frederick Co.) in the province of Virginia, the sum of five shillings current money of New York to be paid him by my executors hereafter named.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my loving son Jonas SEAMAN a sum of two hundred pounds to be levied out of my real estate in Newhempsted People shall recover the land that is now in dispute between us and the Lawyers in New City, but .. that .. . now ... not .covered my will is that if my estate will bear it out, my said son Jonas SEAMAN shall have .. proportion said what my real estates will bear of the said two hundred pounds, to be paid by my executors, but of my said real estate after my decease should . to more . than . ... so my will is that my said son Jonas SEAMAN shall be made equal . .. or estimate of land with my son John SEAMAN and Nehemiah SEAMAN, to him, his heirs and assigns forever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved daughters Elizabeth PALMER and to my daughter Hannah COES and to my daughter Martha VANDERVOORT, their heirs and assigns forever, the sum of seventy four pounds and three shillings and . pence, current money of New York to be levied out of my personal estate to make them equal to what my daughter Phoebe COE received from me, which said . .. by . three shillings and seven pence, but my will is that of my estate amounts . four hundred pounds then I give and bequeath unto my four daughters, Elizabeth PALMER , Phoebe COES and Hannah COES and Martha VANDERVOORT, the sum of one hundred pounds current money of New York to be payed by my executors to them, theirs heirs and assigns forever, but after my moveable estate is valued and there should an after said four hundred pounds, . I bequeathed to my said daughters, that this my will is that of the remainder of my said personal estate to be divided among my four sons, John SEAMAN, Jacomiah SEAMAN and Jonah SEAMAN to them, their heirs and assigns forever. Lastly, I constitute, nominate and appoint my loving sons John SEAMAN, Jacomiah SEAMAN and my son in law, John PALMER to be
my lawfull executors of this my last Will and Testament to see it duly executed as above said, ratifying, ...ing disannulling and making void all former wills and testaments by me made. In testimony whereof I Jonathan SEAMAN have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of October in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and forty eight.

Signed, sealed published and pronounced to be the last Will and Testament of the said Jonathan SEAMAN in presence of us, Geysbert CUYPER, John VANDERVOORT, William SARJANT?

The will of Jonathan SEAMAN proved before M. MOORE at New York the 16th of October, 1755.

Bet it know that on the sixteenth day of October 1755 personally came and appeared before me Lambert MOORE there unto delegated and appointed, John VAND DER VOORT and Geysbert CUYPER and being duly sworn on their oaths declared that they did see Jonathan SEAMAN sing and the within written instrument purporting to be the Will of said Jonathan SEAMAN bearing date the third day of October 1748, and heard him publish and declare the same to be and contain his last will and Testament that at the time thereof he, the said Jonathan SEAMAN was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of them, the deponents. And that their names published to the said will and their proper handwriting which they subscribed as witnesses to the said Will in the Testators presence and that they, the Deponents saw William SAJANT, the other witness to the said will subscribe his name as witness thereunto in the Testators presence.

Be it also remembered that on the said sixteenth day of October 1755, John SEAMAN, Jacomiah SEAMAN and John PALMER the executors of the within written will of Jonathan SEAMAN likewise appeared before me, the said Lambert MOORE, and were duly sworn to the true execution and performance of the said will by severally making the oath of an executor as by law
appointed.
