Deed on file in Putnam County Clerk's office, Book 33, Page 301. Lists Samuel and Hannah Head of Carmel to David T. Valentine of New York City. Dated 19 July 1858 and filed 20 Aug 1858. Consideration of $1500 and witnessed by William B. Hazelton. Land is in Carmel:

Beginning in the middle of the highway leading from Red Mills to Jefferson Valley and southeast corner of ALFRED ADAMS' land thence along Adams' land north 81 1/4 degrees west 4 chains 23 links thence along the same north 81 1/4 degrees west 2 chains 15 links to the northeast corner of meadow thence southerly with the stone wall along the land of JOHN D. LOUNSBERRY 13 chains 85 links to the middle of the highway aforesaid thence with the same southerly 10 chains 57 links to corner of said Lounsberry's lands thence south 21 1/2 degrees east 3 chains 20 links to SARAH KIRKHAM'S land thence north 81 degrees east 4 chains 80 links to corner of wall thence north with stone wall 1 chain 27 links to a lane thence west 17 linkis to corner thence northerly with said land to the middle of the highway and northeasterly with same to beginning containing 10 acres of land.

[NOTE: Appears to be the same land that Samuel purchased from Stephen and Lydia Knapp in 1857. David T. Valentine is mentioned in Gravestones on page 178, the only apparent Valentine born before 1850 to be buried at the Ballard-Barrett Cemetery, born 22 November 1823, died 7 October 1888.]
