Deed on file at Putnam County, Grantee Book W, page 398 between Jeremiah F. and Jane Pardee of Yorktown to James Heady of Putnam Valley dated 7 Oct 1850, witnessed by Stephen Lent, Justice of Peace. The consideration given was $160 and the land is stated as wood land in Putnam Valley:

Commencing at the northeast corner of said lot thence running along the highway sourth 3 3/4 degrees east 5 chains and 33 links to the lands of JAMES HEDY and thence along the said HEDDY'S land south 86 1/4 degrees west 2 chains thence south 3 3/4 degrees east with said HEADS lands 18 links to the west line of said lot thence along said line north 15 degrees east (?) chains and 76 links thence south 64 1/2 degrees east 10 chains to the place of beginning.

The parcel contained 6 acres and spells James' surname as HEADY, HEDY, HEDDY, HEAD.
