The Petition of John Travis of the County of Putnam, respectfully showeth that your petitioner is one of the executors named in the last will and testament of Titus Travis late of Putnam Valley in said county, deceased. That the said deceased was at or immediately previous to his death an inhabitant of the County of Putnam and departed this life on the 4 th day of January last past and that his said will relates to both real and personal estate.
Your petitioner further shows that the heirs and next of kin of said deceased are Tompkins Travis, John Travis, Susan Hadden wife of Robert Hadden, Elizabeth Ann Odell the wife of Moses Odell, Hannah Post the wife of Aaron Post, Sarah Bell the wife of Watson Bell, Minerva Ann Pierce the wife of Cornelius Pierce, and Adilla Travis all of County of Putnam and Jane Odell wife of Benjamin Odell, Frances Shaw wife of Elijah Shaw, and Arvilla Hopper the wife of Dennis Hopper all residing in the County of Steuben, the only children of said deceased and all of full age. That said deceased left him surviving his widow Elizabeth Travis.
Your petition therefore prays that said last will and testament may be proved and letters testamentary granted thereon according to law.

In the name of God, Amen.
I, Titus Travis of Putnam Valley and County of Putnam, State of New York, being feeble in health but of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz:
First, I will, order and direct that all my just and honest debts and funeral expenses be paid out of such monies as my be in the hands of my executors after my decease.
Secondly, I will and direct that the whole of my estate both real and personal of whatsoever character be entirely and exclusively devoted to the benefit and support of my beloved wife Elizabeth Travis during her natural life.
Thirdly, I hereby order will and direct that my executors at the decease of my aforesaid wife Elizabeth sell or dispose of the whole of my estate of whatsoever character and divided the whole of the proceeds of the same into eleven equal shares to be distributed equally between my eleven children as follows viz:
One Share to Tompkins Travis
One Share to my daughter Jane Odell
One Share to my daughter Frances Shaw
One Share to my son John Travis,
One share to my daughter Susan Hadden
One share to my daughter Elizabeth Ann Odell
One share to my daughter Hannah Post
One share to my daughter Sarah Bell
One share to my daughter Arvilla Hopper
One Share to my daughter Minerva Ann Pierce, and
One Share to my daughter Adilla Travis share and share alike to each one as aforesaid to them and their heirs forever. (Transcriber Note – another document in this file dated July 22, 1867 lists her as Adilla Barrett.)
And Lastly I herby nominate and appoint my aforesaid wife Elizabeth as an executor, and my aforesaid sons John Travis and Tompkins Travis as executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me mad heretofore.
