Created by an act of the New York General Assembly in Westchester is an area of over 457 square miles, a terrain of rolling hills, and a suburban lifestyle influenced by it's neighbor to the south New York City. The southern portion of the county is a heavily populated urban area while the northern still maintains it rural character.
