BARNS along the RIVER

Barns are frequent subjects for artists, whom we have to thank for the preservation of our past.  In part, it was the water colors given to my father that hung on our walls that helped to create my interest in historic barns.

Several paintings are displayed here as examples of some of the wonderful art work that abounds on the subject.

Summer Hay is the name given to this painting by Merrill Bailey of Cazenovia NY.  Although not of a River Barn, it now graces a River Home where compiler lives.

Another water color by Merrill Bailey, Winter Plumes.  Probably a barn near Cazenovia NY, in Madison County.

A water color recently done by Ann Rausch of Collins Landing.  The Barn is located in Cape Vincent.

A local artist, John Morrow of Ogdensburg, gave permission to display some of his work.  Entitled Late Winter Snow, it is of a barn near to the River in Heuvelton,  St. Lawrence County.  It displays north country style in the architecture.  More of John's work can be seen at his gallery or website at

Another painting by John Morrow, Ambience of Winter.  It is of a barn complex located near Black Lake, also in St. Lawrence County.
