Whereas Abraham CARPENTER Son of John CARPENTER and Charity CARPENTER of North Castle in the County of West Chester and Province of New York and Lydia TOTTEN Daughter of Peter TOTTEN & Freelove TOTTEN of the Same Town & County as Abovesaid having Declared their Intentions of Marriage with each other before Severell Monthly Meetings of the People called Quakers at Harrisons Purchase and Mamaroneck According to the good order Used Amongst them, [...] procedings there[...] after a Deliberate Consideration thereof and having the Consent of Parents & Relatives Concerned and Nothing Appearing to Obstruct were Approved of by the Said Meeting Now these are to Certifie all whom it may Concern that for the full Accomplishing of their Said Intentions the twentieth Day ye Ninth Month in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand Seven Hundred and fifty Nine then and there the Said Abraham CARPENTER and Lydia TOTTEN Presented themselves in a Publick Meeting Amongst the Said People at the Meeting house at Shappaqua in the Bounds of North Castle and the Said Abraham CARPENTER takeing the Said Lydia TOTTEN by the hand did in a Solemn Manner declare that he took her to be his wife, Promising to be to her a faithfull and a Loving Husband untell the Lord by death Shall be pleased to Seperate them, and then and there in the Said Assembly the Said Lydia TOTTEN did in like Manner Declare that She took the Said Abraham CARPENTER to be her Husband, promising to be to him a faithfull and a Loving Wife untill the Lord Shall be pleased by Death to Seperate them and moreover the said Abraham CARPENTER and Lydia TOTTEN she according to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her husband as a Further Confirmation thereof and then and there to these presents Sett their hands Abraham CARPENTER Lydia CARPENTER and we whose Names are hereunto Subscribed being present amongst others at the Solemnization of the Said Marriage and Subscription in Manner as Aforesaid as Wittnesses thereunto have also to these Presents sett our hands the Day and year Above Written.
