Whereas Alfred A. SUTTON of the town of Bedford, County of Westchester and State of New York, son of William SUTTON and Charlotte his wife the former deceased and Jane L. BIRDSALL daughter of Joseph BIRDSALL and Ann his wife of the town of North Castle, county of Westchester and state of New York, having laid their intentions of marriage with each other before the Monthly meeting of the religious society of Friends held at Chapequa in the State of New York aforesaid, they having concent of susviving parents and nothing appearing to obstruct their proposal of marriage was allowed by the meeting, Now these are to certify to whom it may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions this Nineteenth day of the Seventh month in 1859. They the said Alfred A. SUTTON and Jane L. BIRDSALL appeared in a meeting at the dwelling house of Joseph BIRDSALL in the town of North Castle, in the presence of a committe appointed for that purpose, and the said Alfred A. SUTTON taking the said Jane L. BIRDSALL by the hand, did, on this solemn occasion openly declare that he took her the said Jane L. BIRDSALL to be his Wife, promising with Divine assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful Husband until death should separate them, and then the said Jane L. BIRDSALL did in like manner declare that she took him the said Alfred A. SUTTON to be her Husband promising with Divine assistance to be unto him a loving and faithful Wife until death should seperate them, And Moreover they the said Alfred A. SUTTON and Jane L. BIRDSALL she according tot he custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband, did as a further confirmation thereof then and there to these presents set their hands Alfred A. SUTTON Jane L. SUTTON And we whose names are also hereunto subscribed being present at the solemnization of the said marriage and subscription have as witnesses thereunto set our hands the day and year above written
