Marriage Certificate Andrew KNIFFEN and Anna WOOD, 1d 1m 1817 

Andrew KNIFFEN of the Town of Wawarsink County of Ulster and State of New York son of Jeremiah KNIFFEN and Abigail his wife & Anna WOOD daughter of Benjamin WOOD and Eve his wife of the town of New Paltz County & State Before mentioned having Laid their intentions of marriage with Each other Before two monthly meetings of the Society of Friends held at the Rosendale Plains in the State aforesaid and they having Consent of Parents & Nothing appearing to obstruct their proposals of marriage were allowed By the meeting.  These are to Certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this 1st of 1st month in the Year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen they the said Andrew KNIFFIN & Anna WOOD appeared in a public meeting of Said Society held at Newpaltz & the said Andrew KNIFFIN taking the Said Anna WOOD By the hand did on this Solemn occasion declare that he took her to be his wife promising through Divine assistance to be unto her a faithfull and Loving husband Untill Seperated by Death or words to that effect & thin the Said Anna WOOD did in Like manner Declare that She took the Said Andrew KNIFFIN to be her husband promising through Divine assistance to be unto him a faithfull & Loving wife untill Seperated By Death or words to that import and they the Said Andrew KNIFFEN & Anna WOOD she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as farther Confirmation thereof and then and there to these Set their hands
