Benjamin SHELDON of the Town of Hyde Park County of Dutchess and State of New York son of Joseph and Elizann SHELDON and Mary F. STRINGHAM Daughter of Thomas and Mary STRINGHAM of the Town of Clinton County and State aforesaid having laid their Intentions of marriage with Each other beofre Two Monthly Meetings of the religious Society of Friends held at Creek and Crumelbow in the state of New York, they having Consent of Parents and nothing appearing to obstruct their their[sic] proposals of marriage was allowed by the meeting These are to Certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this 24th of 4th mo 1828 Benjamin SHELDON and Mary F. STRINGHAM appeared in a public Meeting of said Society held at Crumelbow and Benjamin SHELDON taking Mary F. STRINGHAM by the hand, did on this Solemn occation Diclare he took her to be his Wife promising through Divine assistance aid[sic] to be unto her a Faithful and loving Husband untill Seperated by Death or words to that effect and then Mary F. STRINGHAM did in like manner Declare that she took benjamin SHELDON to be her husband, promising through Divine Assistants to be unto him a Faithful and loving Wife untill Seperated by Death or words to that import And they the said Benjamin SHELDON and Mary F. STRINGHAM She according to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her husband as a further confirmation thereof Did then and Their to these presents set their hands Benjamin SHELDON Mary F. SHELDON And we being present have subscribed our hands as witnesses thereof
