Marriage Certificate Elias DEGARMO and Rhoda ROGERS, 22d 10mo 1829 

Elias D. GARMO of the Town of Washington County of Dutchess and State of New York, son of Peter D. GARMO and Mary his wife, and Rhoda ROGERS, daughter of James ROGERS and Deborah his wife (the latter deceased) of the Town County and State aforesaid], having laid their intentions of marriage with each other before two Monthly Meetings of the religious society of friends held at Nine Partners in the State aforesaid they having consent of parents and nothing appearing to obstruct; their proposal was allowed by the meeting.  These are to certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this twenty second day of the tenth month in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and twenty Nine, they the said Elias D. GARMO and Rhoda ROGERS appeared in a publick meeting of said society held at Nine Partners aforesaid, and the said Elias D. GARMO taking the said Rhoda ROGERS by the hand, did on this Solemn occasion declare that he took her to be his wife, promiseing through Divine assistance to be unto her a kind and affectionate husband untill seperated by death, or words to that effect; and then the said Rhoda ROGERS did in like manner declare that she took the said Elias D. GARMO to be her husband, promiseing through Divine assistance to be unto him a kind and affectionate wife untill seperated by death, or words to that import, and they the said Elias D. GARMO and Rhoda ROGERS, she according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as a further confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hands
