Marriage Certificate Elias S. MORGAN and Rhoda B. MULLENIX, 19d 9m 1819

Elias S. MORGAN of the town of Thompson, County of Sullivan & State of New York son of William MORGAN deceased & Mary E. MORGAN his wife, and Rhoda B. MULLENIX Daughter of Gideon MULLENIX & Rhoda his Wife of the town of New Paltz County of Ulster & State aforesaid, having laid their intentions of Marriage with each other, before two Monthly Meetings of the religious Society of Friends, held at Paltz, and Esopus, in the state aforesaid they having consent of Parents, and nothing appearing to obstruct their proposals of Marriage was allowed of by the Meeting: these are to Certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this 19th Day of 9th Mo in the Year of our Lord 1819 they the said Elias S. MORGAN & Roda B. MULLENIX appeared in a Public meeting of Said Society held at the Paltz & the sd. Elias S. MORGAN taking the sd. Rhoda B. MULLENIX by the hand did on this Solemn occasion declare that he took her to be his wife; Promising through divine assistance to be unto her a faithful & loveing husband untill separated by Death or words or words[sic] to that Effect, then the said Rhoda B. MULLENIX did in like manner declare that she took the sd. Elias S. MORGAN to be her Husband Promising through Divine assistance to be unto him a faithful and loving Wife untill Separated by Death or words to that import and they the Said Elias S. MORGAN and Rhoda B. MULLENIX she according to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her husband as a farther confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hands
