Marriage certificate George COCK and Jerusha MARSHALL, 19d 2m 1766 

Whereas there hath been an intention of Marriage between George COCK of North Castle in Westchester County and Province of New York Son of Josiah COCK Deceased and Rebecca COCK; and Jerusha MARSHALL of Greenwich in Fairfield County and Colony of Connecticut Daughter of David MARSHALL Deceased and Ann his Wife and they having declared their intentions before two Severall Monthly Meetings of the People Called Quakers at the Purchass According to the Good order Used amongst Said People whose proceedings after a deliberate Consideration and Consent of Parents and nothing appearing to Obstruct their Said intentions approved of by Said Meeting.  Now these are therefore to Certify all whom it May Concern that for the full Accomplishing their Said Intentions this nineteenth day of Second Month one Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Six the said George COCK and Jerusha MARSHALL presented themselves in a Publick Meeting of Said People and others at the Purchase the Said George COCK takeing the Said Jerusha MARSHALL by the Hand did in a Solemn Manner declare that He took Her to be his Wife Promising to be a true and Loving Husband untill Death Should Separate them then and there in the Same Manner the said Jerusha MARSHALL did also Declare that he took the Said George COCK to be Her Husband Promising to be a true and Loving Wife Until Death Should Separate them or Words to that effect.  Moreover, Said George and Jerusha his Wife Did then and there Set their Hands and She Assuming the Name of her Husband as a further Consideration of their Marriage
