Whereas John SUTTON, son of Benjamin SUTTON, late of North Castle in the County of West Chester and Province of New York, deceased, and Ann MARSHALL, Daughter of David MARSHALL, late of the Township of Greenwich County of Fairfield and Collony of Connecticut, deceased. Having declared their Intentions of taking each other in Marriage before several monthly meetings of the People Called Quakers as held at the Purchase and Mamaroneck. According to the good order used amongst them and their proposals of Marriage was allowed by Said meetings. Now these are to certify to whom it may concern that for the full Accomplishing their Said Intention this eithteenth of the second month 1761. They the said John SUTTON and Ann MARSHALL appeared in a Publick meeting of the said People and others at the Purchase aforesaid and this said John SUTTON taken the said Ann MARSHALL by the hand [...] in a Solemn manner openly Declared that he took her the Said Ann MARSHALL to be his wife promising to be a Loving and Truthfull Husband untill Death should seperate them, and then in the Same Asembly the Said Ann Marshall did in like Manner declare that She took the Said John SUTTON to be her Husband Promising to be unto him a Loving and Truthfull Wife untill Death Should Seperate them or words to that Purpose. Moreover, they the Said John SUTTON and Ann Now his wife as is further confirmation of their Promises did hereunto sett their hand this day and year above written John SUTTON Anne SUTTON and we amongst many others being present Subscribe as Witnesses to the Same
