Marriage Certificate of John TITUS and Eliza W. HANDE, 2d 2m 1837

Whereas John TITUS Son of Thomas and Elizabeth TITUS latter deceased) and Eliza W. HANDE daughter of Elias and Guin HANDE all of the Town of Cornwall in the county of Orange and State of New York having laid theire Intentions of Marriage with each other before two Monthly Meetings of the religious Society of Friends held at Cornwall in the State of New York, they having Consent of Surviving Parents and nothing appearing to obstruct their proposal was allowed by the Meeting, these are to certify that for the accomplishment of their Intentions this Second Day of Second Month in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand and Eighty[sic] Hundred and Thirty Seven, They the Said John TITUS and Eliza W. HANDE appeared in a Publick Meeting of Said Society held at Cornwall and the Said John TITUS taking the Said Eliza W. HANDE by the hand did on this solemn occasion declair her to be his Wife promising through Divine assistance to be unto her a faithful and affectionate Husband until separated by Death or words to that affect.  and the said Eliza W. HAND did in like Manner declair that She took the said John TITUS to be her Husband promising through Divine assistance to be unto him a faithful and Loving Wife until separated by Death or words to that import and they the said John TITUS and Eliza W. HANDE She according to the custom of Marriage assuming the Name of her Husband as a farther confirmation there of did then and there to these presents Set there Hands
