Marriage certificate John UNDERHILL and Deborah DICKINSON, 19d 12m called December 1771 

Whereas there hath been intentions of Marriage between John UNDERHILL Son of Benjamin and Hannah UNDERHILL of North Castle in the County of Westchester and Province of New York and Deborah DICKENSON daughter of Zebulon and Joyce DICKINSON of the same place and they having declared their intentions before Severall Monthly Meetings of the People called Quakers at the Purchase according to the good Order used amongst the Said People whose proceeding after a deliberate Consideration and Consent of Parents and Nothing appearing to obstruct, their said intention was approved of by Said Monthly Meeting.

Now these are to Certifie all whom it may concern for the full accomplishing of their intentions this Nineteenth day of the twelfth Month (called Desember) one thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy One the Said John UNDERHILL and Deborah DICKENSON Presented themselves in a Publick Meeting of Said People and others at the Meeting House at Shapaqua, the Said John Underhill taking the said Deborah DICKENSON by the hand did in a Solemn Manner declare that he took her to be his Wife Promising to be a true and Loving Husband until Death Should Separate them and then in the Same Manner the Said Deborah DICKENSON did also declare that She took the Said John UNDERHILL to be her Husband promising to be a true and Loving Wife until Death or to that Effect.  Moreover the Said John and Deborah his wife did then and there Set their Names (She assuming the Name of her Husband) as a further Confirmation of their marriage

and We whose names are hereunto Subscribed being amongst others at the Solemnizing of Said Marriage and Subscription as aforesaid have also as Witnesses set our hands to these Presents.
