Marriage Certificate Jonathan HALSTED and Elizabeth POWELL, 3d 4m 1805

Whereas Jonathan HALSTED Son of David HALSTED Deceased & Naomi his wife of the Town of Clinton County of Dutchess for the State of New York and Elizabeth POWELL Daughter of Nathaniel POWELL and Anna his wife of the Town of Clinton County And State aforsaid having Declared their Intention of Marriage with each Other before Two Monthly Meetings of the People Called Quakers held at Creek in the State Aforesaid They having Concent of Parents & Parties Concerned and Nothing appearing to obstruct Their Said proposals were allowed of By the Meeting Now These are to Certify all whome it may Concern That for the full accomplishment of their Said Intention This Third Day of Fourth Month for the year 1805 they The Said Jonathan HALSTED & Elizabeth POWELL appeard In a Publick Meeting of said People at Creek aforsaid And he the said Jonathan HALSTED Taking the said Elizabeth POWELL by the hand did in a Solemn manner Openly Declare that he took her to be his wife Promising through Divine assistance to be Unto her a faithful and Loving Husband untill Death Seperated Them or words to that Effect and then the Said Elizabeth POWELL did in like manner Declare that she took the said Jonathan HALSTED to be her Husband promising through Divine assistance to be unto him a faithful & loving Wife until death Seperates them or words to that import And Moreover they the Said Jonathan HALSTED and Elizabeth POWELL She according to the custom of Marriage assuming the Name of her Husband as a further Confirmation thereof did these presents Set their hands
