Jonathan TRIPP, Town of De Ruyter, County of Madison and State of New York, son of Israel TRIPP and Sarah his wife both deceased, and Rachel CARPENTER, daughter of Zeno CARPENTER and Esther his wife, both deceased, having laid their intentions of marriage with each other before a monthly meeting of the religious society of Friends, held at Verona in the State of New York, and nothing appearing to obstruct their proposal of marriage was allowed by the meeting: These are to certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this thirteeth day of the tenth month in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty six, they the said Jonathan TRIPP and Rachel CARPENTER appeared at the house of Wells RATHBUN in the town of Verona, in the presence of a committee appointed for that purpose by the monthly meeting of said Society and the said Jonathan TRIPP taking the said Rachel CARPENTER by the hand, did on this solemn occasion declare that he took her to be his wife; promising, through Divine assistance, to be unto her a faithful and affectionate husband until seperated by death; and then the said Rachel CARPENTER did, in like manner declare, that she took the said Jonathan TRIPP to be her husband; promising, through Divine assistance, to be unto him a faithful and affectionate wife, until sepperated by death; and they the said Jonathan TRIPP and Rachel CARPENTER, she, according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband, as a farther confirmation thereof, did then and there to these presents set their hands Jonathan TRIPP Rachel TRIPP And we being present, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereof
