Marriage Certificate Joseph W. RANSOME and Sarah B. AUSTIN, 21d 9m 1831 

Joseph W. RANSOME of the Town of Marlborough County of Ulster and State of New York, Son of John RANSOME and Elizabeth his Wife, and Sarah B. AUSTIN Daughter of Cornelius AUSTIN and Anna his Wife of theTown of Clinton County of Dutchess and State of New York, having laid their Intentions of Marriage with each other before two monthly meetings of the religious Society of Friends held at the Creek, in the State aforesaid, they having concent of Parents and nothing appearing to Obstruct, their proposals of marriage was allowed by the Meeting.  These are to Certify, that for the accomplishment of their Intentions, this 21st of 9th mo in the year of our lord 1831 They the said Joseph W. RANSOME & Sarah B. AUSTIN appeard in a publick Meeting of said Society held at the Creek, and the said Joseph W. RANSOME taking the said Sarah B. AUSTIN by the hand, did on this Solemn occation Declare, that he took her to be his Wife; promising through Divine assistants to be unto her a faithful and loving Husband untill Seperated by Death, or words to that effect; and then she the said Sarah B. AUSTIN, did in like manner, Declare that she took the Said Joseph W. RANSOME to be her Husband, promising thro Divine Assistance to be unto him a faithful and Loving Wife, untill Seperated by Death or words to that import.  and they the Said Joseph W. RANSOM and Sarah B. AUSTIN, She according to the Custom of Marriage, assuming the name of her husband as a further Confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their hands
