Marriage Certificate Joshua CORNELL and Rebecca HAIGHT, 15d 10m 1795

Whereas Joshua CORNWELL Son of Joshua & Hannah CORNWELL deceased of Northcastle in the County of Westchester & State of New York & Rebecca HAIGHT Daughter of James HAIGHT & Barshaba his Wife Deceased of Northcastle County & State above Sd. having declared there Intentions of Marriage With Each Other Before Two Mo. Meetings of the people Caled Quakers held at Shapaqua & Amewalk In the State aforesd. According to the good order used Amongst them They haveing Consent of parents & parties Concerned And Nothing appearing to Obstruct therein Sd. proposals was allowed of By Sd. Meeting. Now these are to Certify all Whome It may Consern That for the full Accomplishment of their Sd. Intentions these 15th Day of 10th Mo. In the year 1795 They the Sd. Joshua CORNWELL & Rebeca HAIGHT appeared In A publick Meeting of the Sd. people Above Sd. & the Sd. Joshua CORNWELL takeing ye Sd. Rebeca haight By the Hand did In a Solemn Manner Openly declare that he took The Sd. Rebeca HAIGHT to be His wife promiseing through devine Assistance to Be unto her a kinde and faithfull Husband Untill Death Separates them or words to that Effect & then & there In the Said Assembly the Sd. Rebecah HAIGHT did In like manner Openly declare that she took the Sd. Joshua CORNWELL to be her Husband husband[sic] promiseing through divine Assistance to be unto Him a loving and faithfull Wife Until Death Separated Them or words to that Import & Moreover They the Sd. Joshua CORNWELL & Rebeccah HAIGHT She according to the Custom of Marriage Assuming the name of Her Husband as a further Confermation thereof Did then & there to these presents Set their Hands
