Marriage Certificate Leonard COUTANT and Mary ROBINSON, 4d 3m 1830 

Leonard L. COUTANT of the Town of Esopus County of Ulster and state of Newyork son of Gabrail COUTANT and Hannah his wife and Mary ROBINSON Daughter of Rowland ROBINSON and BERSHABE his wife of the Town of Esopus County and State aforesaid.  They having laid their intentions of Marriage with each other before two Monthly Meetings of the Religious Society of Friends held at the Paltz and Esopus in the County and State aforesaid they having consent of Parents and nothing appearing to obstruct their proposal of Marriage was allowed by the meeting.  These are to certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this fourth day of third month in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty they the said Leonard L. COUTANT and Mary ROBINSON appeared in a publick meeting of said Society held at Esopus and then the said Leonard L. COUTANT taking the said Mary ROBINSON by the hand did on this sollemn occasion declare that he took her to be his Wife promising through Divine assistance to be unto her a faithful and loving Husband untill seperated by Death or words to that effect and then the said Mary ROBINSON did in like manner declare that she took the said Leonard L. COUTANT to be her Husband promising through divine assistance to be unto him a faithful and effectionate Wife untill seperated by Death or words to that import and they the said Leonard L. COUTANT and Mary ROBINSON she according to the custom of Margage assuming the name of her Husband as a farther confirmation they did then and to these presants set their hands
