Marriage Certificate Zeno CARPENTER and Esther HALSTEAD, 24d 12m 1816 

Whereas Zeno CARPENTER Jun Son of Zeno CARPENTER and Lydia his wife of Clinton Town Dutchess County & State of New York and Esther HALSTED Daughter of David HALSTED Deceast & Naomi his Wife of the Town County and state aforesaid Having Declared their Intentions of Marriage with Each other Before Two Monthly Meetings of the People Called Quakers held at Creek in the State aforesaid they having Concent of Parents and Parties Concernd and Nothing appearing to obstruct their said proposals were allowed of by the Meeting Now these are to Certify all Whom it may concern that for full accomplishment of their said Intentions This wenty Fourth Day of Twelf Month 1816 They the said Zeno CARPENTER Jun & Esther HALSTED appeared at a Publick Meeting of said People at Creek aforesaid and the Said Zeno CARPENTER jun Takeing the said Esther HALSTED by the hand Did in a Solemn manner openly Declare that he took her to be his wife Promising Through Divine Assistance to be unto her a faithful & loving Husband untill Death Seperated them or words to that Effect and then the said Esther HALSTED Did in like manner Declare That she took the said Zeno CARPENTER jun to be her Husband Promising Through Divine assistance to be unto him a Faithful & loving wife untill Death Seperates them or words to that Import and moreover they the [sic] Zeno CARPENTER jun & Esther HALSTED she according to the Custom of Marriage Assuming the Name of her Husband as a further confirmation thereof Did then to these presents set their hands
