The 1830s Hagadorn House in Almond, home of the Almond Historical Society, was the site of their annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 6, 2009.

This year's theme was "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and featured various decorations created by Mary Ellen Westlake, AHS exhibit chairman.

Dolls dressed as drummers, maids-a-milking, pipers and other characters from the "Twelve Days" were loaned by various children from the community, and dressed in costumes made by Dottie Snyder.  Several nativity sets from the 200+ collection of Alice Aultman of Hornell were also on display.

A full house attended the Christmas Musical Program held next door at Almond Union Church, where a 35-voice children's choir and a girls' ensemble, directed by Randi Corkey and accompanied by Donna Ryan, sang.  Others participating were the Pilgrims Hope a cappella group and Lee A Ryan, Steve Crandall, Ben Palmer, and Carl Leathersich in a barbershop quartet.  These groups will also sing in the Alfred Almond Bible Church's Christmas Coffee House Friday and Saturday, Dec 11 and 12, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec 13 at 10:30.

Hot wassail and Christmas cookies were served in the Hagadorn House, where a Christmas tree, decorated by the home schooled children was located in the parlor.
