Altie Karr

I believe,but, am not sure that this is Altie Karr , the wife of Samuel Karr ,the civil war soldier who is the brother of Charles Karr or in other words my Grandmother Ethels Aunt Altie.

This one is Charles Karr and one of his grandchildren , possibly Phylis, I am not sure. on the back is a prayer that he wrote, it goes as follows:

Our dear Heavenly Father, We thank Thee that Thou art ever mindful of our returning wants. Strengthen our bodies we pray Thee, with the food before us; our hearts with friendship; and nourish our souls with the bread of life. For Jesus sake. Amen

The boy is my dad, Berten Charles Bean who passed away this past November at the age of 87. He and my grandmother have told me many stories of the times they spent in Almond. Charles Karr is my great grandfather.This picture was taken up on the back pasture of Charles Karrs' farm.

I started scanning these pictures after I was given the suitcase full and my dad was ill,I would enlarge the pictures and bring them to my dad to enjoy and take his mind off his illness , it worked well and I always left him dreaming of chicken in golden gravy at the farm, or his Aunt Beth Karr who always took care of him when he was sick.

This one is in silhouette and is labeled Clinton Makely and Garland Karr at Lindenwood with their horses. They are cousins

This is a picture of my grandmother , Ethel Eugenia Karr, and her brother Garland Karr, both born and grew up in the Karr Valley.

This one is from the box of pictures that belonged to Ella Makely Karr, I am not sure whose tractor this is but it is surely interesting for the time and most likely belonged to a family member

Berten B Bean at the Ledges

Berten B Bean, in the striped shirt , playing football at Alfred or Oberlin ,not sure which.

My Grandmother Ethel Karr sitting at the far left next to her future in-laws John Bean and Harriet Bean , behind her are the Bean brothers and at the far right standing is her future husband Berten Bradley Bean, a student at Alfred University and future teacher and Superintendant of the Buffalo public schools. The picture is taken at the Bean Farm outside Hammondsport near Bath I think.

My Grandmother Ethel Karr standing to the left of the teacher, to the left and in front of Ethel is her brother, Garland Karr smiling. They are at a one room school that they attended in Almond.

This may have been in the 1930s when Ethel and Berten Bean went camping with friends Ben and Louise Ostrum. Louise took the picture , my Grandmother Ethel hand colored it . We have other pictures with an empty chair , they thought it was funny.

In this picture my Grandmother ,Ethel Karr Bean is seated on the Floor, Behind her is my Grandfather Berten B Bean, to the left of him is Charles Karr. The baby is my uncle Richard Bean, The man holding the baby may be Charles Karrs brother Samuel Karr , the Civil War Soldier. We have two versions of this picture , this one is the most clear. labeled 1909

100 Year Anniversary of Karr Settlement in Karr Valley

From a Karr family reunion about 1900, my grandmother Ethel Eugenia Karr is the little girl standing in the center front in a white dress, to the left of her seated is her mother Ella Makely Karr, to the right of her seated is her father Charles Karr. The house is Charles Karrs' formerly belonging to his grandfather Joseph Karr.
