About GINNY
I was born in Poughkeepsie just after WWII, grew up in Red Oaks Mill, and graduated from Arlington High School. I married in 1967 and lived in Pleasant Valley from 1974 through 1996. My youngest daughter was the 1st baby born in "Valley Dale" in 1974. After my divorce in 1986 I resumed my maiden name and continued to live in Pleasant Valley until my children were grown. In 1996, I sold my house in Pleasant Valley and bought a Town Home in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
I miss the good "old" days in Pleasant Valley and have many fond memories of raising my children there! I still maintain a P. O. Box in PV so as to give me good reason to visit often<g> Over the past 6 years I have become an avid "historian" and "genealogist" and enjoy sharing information with others which will hopefully help them build their family tree and have discovered many of my children's ancestors lived in Pleasant Valley. Therefore, my historical and genealogical research continues in the Town in which they grew up, never knowing that they had deeper roots there than they knew.
I am a firm believer that "we can't know where we are going unless we know where we came from". I also believe that history and genealogy go hand and hand. You can't have a true picture of one without the other. It is towards that effort that I volunteered to "adopt" the Pleasant Valley Pages at Dutchess County ALHN.
I
hope that you will join me in helping these pages grow!
