Samuel W. LAIRD (LEARD)

Samuel W. Laird, b. 3 September 1804, in PA, married Delila Albin Secrest 31 May, 1824, in Guernsey County, Ohio. Delila Albin was born to James Albin and Barbara Hoover 25 December 1802 in Hampshire County, VA.

Samuel Laird was a Scots-Irish "navvie" worker on the canal systems in Ohio and Indiana. He moved to Findlay, Hancock County, OH in 1838; then to Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN in 1840; then to Battleground, Tippecanoe County, IN in 1845; and finally to Milford, Iroquois County, IL in 1852/53. He died 1 August 1871, in Milford, Iroquois County, IL, and is buried in Amity Cemetery, Lovejoy Township, Iroquois County, IL. Delila died on January 25, 1877.

My lineage from Samuel is James A Laird 30 May 1830 - 21 March 1905; Marion Laird 26 December 1852 - 16 June 1922; Lowell A. Laird 1 February 1876 - 4 September 1927; Glen L. Laird 24 November 1899 - 18 November 1973; and Robert G. Laird 28 February 1924 - 31 May 1968.
